the choice of dragoons idea.

Since so many people are split over weather or not to have the pet, why not have it be a choice you make at the start of the job quest? As a LNC you start the quest to become a DRG. You end up having to make a choice at the end, kill the dragon and Lancet its power for yourself (trying to use lancet in a cleaver way) or take on the dragon as your partner, but not being as strong personally. This way we not only get more variety in the job, but both sides are happy.

Of course im not sure how much time this would take, but if it was possible, i think its the best choice, be a dragon slayer, or a master of dragons.

and just a side note, please do not instantly compare it to FFXI's DRG, this game plays differently and Yoshi could easily think outside of the box to make it a different experience.

Double the work for the dev team? Ha, that won't fly over very well.

It makes no sense from a story stand point. Dragon Knights in XIV kill dragons, they don't befriend them.

As you can tell SE cares nothing of the story as CNJ is WHM. which is perfect because they should not like a boring story effect gameplay.

OT: why does everyone want all the melees the same? Make DRG different give it a pet. If u want a strong DPS use MNK or MRD... Dont add a third to be the same....

they could add a second job "dragon tamer" with a dif focus of role abilties

They should. People didn't get attached to XI for the exciting game play.

Besides, I thought Yoshi confirmed they were gonna add a BST-like class in one of his interviews. (Could be wrong, all I saw was SMN and nothing else mattered).

Doesn't look to be much of a split really.. More like a few Die hard XI-2 people hanging on a little to tight.

Other hten ending with a pet i like the idea..

Problem is people are very against lasting decisions in mmo's these days.
I cant Imagen the tears If people have to chose something like that..

Yah i guess that would be the downfall, people would be mad because the community would eventually know which is the "superior" form. I wouldnt mind more things liek it though, it keeps people from all being the same.

its hard to tell, we dont have the #s of the other regions, for all we know the JP are the total opposite of us and all want the pet. Cant judge based on one region alone,

Yeah . . . because having Cure, Curaga, Protect, Shell, Stoneskin, Raise, being about keeping the world in harmony and revering life; none of that could possibly ever be construed to be WHM territory. Especially when compared to their competition from a greedy, hedonistic cult of morticians who have no party cures, use Poison, Bio, Gravity, Slow, and MP Absorbing spells (from corpses no less). Yep, Thaumaturges just scream WHM, which is why Con's have never been party healers. Ever.

Or so both play styles could be done, add a fuse and split option. Kinda like spirit surge from ffxi, but switchable on and off. This would be the best solution for drg. It settles the argument for a happy medium, and makes dragoon dynamic to it's jobs title.

They should make a new job that use lance Wryverm Caller, if they want Wrym pet so much with using a Lance as a weapon.

2 different dragoons. thats not fair, i want a choice of monks. GLDs should get 2 choices of paladins. and 2 black mages and 2 white mages :P i wonder if there is a better way to double the dev's work load.

the fact is some want dragon pet and some don't. well some are going to be upset and that can't be helped

Well if that's the way you wanna see it. But we have yet to see what jobs can really do. You don't know if more than one role can be performed per job. Take bard for example. We have yet to see how support/DD will work here and if they can focus on one or the other. Furthermore I believe it would be a cool idea for monks to have stances/styles if your so adamant about everyone having multiple styles per job.

if they build the job like you say, this will be cool. but i don't think they will be choices they you have to make. i just think dragoon should get a pet. or not get a pet. there shoud not be 2 dragoon char's running around. and if there is i want 2 monks

we are not talking about 2 different jobs. we are talking about the same job with different aspect/abilities

I still say no pet for DRG...if people want to play a pet job there will be 2 so far of that we know..Beastmaster and Summoner. I see DRG as a DD...I never really could picture them with a pet dragon following them around haha. When I think of a pet job I think of a Summoner class or Tamer or something...leave the pets to them :)

Stick with having DRG as a powerful DD. So far though from what I have seen majoirty of the community is against having a pet so here is hoping!

*sigh* Arguing that the devs will have double the work is silly. They -want- our opinions. They -want- their game to be successful. If people want a Wyvern they could find a way to work around it and appeal to a broader audience. Is that such a bad thing, really?

I don't want them to add Wyverns to Dragoons again personally, because I think it would be interesting to have the dragon's abilities on the Dragoon itself (Like breath attacks and healing breaths for example). That's not to say I don't want a pet Wyvern at all though. If the beastmaster class/job they have in the works allowed for a "favored pet" of some sort that you could keep with you, instead of having disposable pets all the time, players could always play a Lancer and cross-class their pet. Just an idea. I think I would just be satisfied with having my Chocobo fight beside me. Especially if we get to use our Chocobo in combat often.

I agree, personally I'd love to see a Dragoon without a wyvern but...

The wyvern could be something that don't exists physically, but rather a spirit bonded with the Dragoon. When you're in passive mode, it hovers next to you translucent. When you switch to active mode, it merges with you, granting you the power of the wyvern.

There, people get their pet and eat their cake too.

I hope if they grant us a pet, it will have jump! :D

sorry it came across like that, that is not how i ment it. i am against the choice of dragoon with pet and a dragoon without a pet in 1.21 as this would be like having 2 dragoons. as one job type having two different set's of stats and abilitlies. and when the second job does come out for each class that would give lancer 3 jobs instead of 2. if what you are suggesting is that lancer class gets a dragoon job with no pet or with a pet in 1.21. and when the second job comes out in the future they get alternate option then, well i'm not so against that but i do think it would be a waste of a job to give the lancer 2 dragoons one with pet one without

could always have it an ability that when you summon the wyvern your lose a certian amount of stats and the wyvern wouldnt really do damage but heal you like drg/mage did in XI, so it would be for solo purpose and you can choose not to summon it for pure DD as you keep your stats

yea, i am against the choice in 1.21 as well. however i think which ever one they dont implement could be used a another job in the future.

then it better not to give the Dragoon the pet as I dont see the point in gimp yourself to have a pet to show and not even sure it is useful. And I am sure the pet wont be useful if its master have decent dmg
