That bottle is nothing the textures are so low resolution their own graphics setting goofs and make mountains look like putty.
Yes, Yoshi pls.
This, please! Let's have the "option" for texture options on the same level and/or above that of what we had on 1.0. Let the players make them and share them with each other. Would support this similar to simple texture mods for games like Skyrim and Fallout.
Yes please this game needs it. While shadows and lighting are very nice in this game texture resolution suffers a lot. It shouldn't even hurt performance for those having mid range cards and above. If something like this will come it will be on 4.0 or later sadly. Wish the dev team could pleasantly surprise us and announce that they are looking into it.

I'd rather they not, atm the dev team is limited in size as it is, so to have them recreate every texture in the game, with an HD upgrade, then to also create a normal and hd version of all future textures, will either slow down the rate that content comes out, and/or reduce the amount of content released in each patch.
Not to mention that it'd be asking for something that would eat up a lot of time for the devs to work on, but that only a portion of the community would get to use.
Maybe in the future when PS3 support is dropped, and FFXV, FFXII HD, and FFVII remake projects are done, and we hopefully get a larger dev team, then maybe, it'd be time to add a UHD texture pack.
Agree with Gralna. You're asking for a lot resources here resources that could be better spent elsewhere at the moment.
If not the whole game, at least the armor, glamours, weps, everything you can use on your character. This alone would make it a lot better imo.
"Oh hey this set looks awesome" then you zoom in and just "Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah nevermind"
They don't need to recreate anything though because that's not how game art is done. When creating models and textures they are initially created in high resolution and then scaled down as necessary to suit the platform. They already have everything for this; they literally just need to package it and offer it as an optional download in the launcher.
Please please please! Most of the MSQs that have close-up shots of players and NPCs look awfully pixelated. It's very distracting since most of the game looks beautiful. Back when 1.0 was underdevelopment there was a comment about how the design team created all textures in very high resolution and reduced these down for the game client to run smoothly. A smooth running game is obviously top priority but if an option high resolution texture pack would be the bee's-knees.
Once they drop PS3 support i'm sure we'll get better textures, however i don't know if they'll do that starting with everything from when the PS3 support was dropped or if they will already have high res textures but haven't released them yet.
I also support the idea of a higher resolution texture pack. There is nothing more immersion breaking than seeing the ground putty trying to eat my character's feet or having a very epic and/or sad scene gobbled up by awful textures and pixelation.
Does no one remember that the very same 1.0 graphics is what was one of the biggest reasons it did not run well? A flower pot using the same amount of data as an NPC.
As for the texture packs. Why? The game already has a Low > Maximum setting where the textures and graphics have a significant difference. Not to mention, DX9 and DX11 have a lot of differences also.
You won't see an increase or added features till the PS3 version is dropped.
Never been a graphics junkie so never really noticed.
Ill never understand why this isn't an option. Still holding out hope it gets released in the future.
This isn't exactly how this works. The devs don't have to "make" two different versions of the textures per say. I'm guessing it would be downscaled with some sort of software. The textures that are used in the game now are likely downscaled versions of the originals. So the process of releasing an optional setting to use higher res textures doesn't seem like it would take too much work. I think many people with higher end systems would love to use the full power of their rigs.
But, I also agree that this may be a problem for PS3 (maybe even PS4) users.
edit: sorry, just realized that someone else already said this. didn't mean to parrot them
Yes please, I'm all for this:)
Increasing textures, heck even increasing poly count which is what you're thinking of with that pot, can be done in an intelligent way such that we don't go back to the bad graphical decisions of 1.0. Like don't put as much emphasis on random environmental objects no one is going to notice as you would a character model. Also, it's not a problem as long as you give the correct graphics options so that people with less capable rigs can still use what they have now.
Because even at max settings most textures are pretty bad, and even the good ones don't hold up too well when you zoom in. Look at this screenshot I came across. You can't seriously tell me you think those look good. http://i.imgur.com/bCtvVlG.pngQuote:

There's no reason something like this couldn't be implemented right now. Just don't give the option to the platforms that can't handle it.Quote:

This could all be solved if SE just gave the Mod Support like they promised...
It might be as simple as you suggest, or it might not...
The step that would almost certainly take more work would be the optimization step - assuming they have higher resolution versions of every texture that could be brought in as an option without much extra work, it could also end up running like crap on even beefier systems, so taking the time to find that right balance so it's not terrible...
For every texture and location in the game...
Would almost certainly not be a simple task. Optimization can be a helluva thing (and improperly done it's how you get games that work smooth as butter when facing one direction, but face another or with certain things in view *even on beefy systems* and and the fps plummets) to get right.
On the other hand (again, assuming it was as simple as using original textures already created and was a simple process to implement), they could just set it as an "Extreme" setting with a couple visible warnings that it may not be optimized and your computer may suffer performance issues, and then point to that whenever someone inevitably complains that it isn't both HD and running smooth as butter at 120 fps.
I have to admit the entire game needs improvements.
MSAA would be enough for me. Fixing the terrible parallax mapping would help a lot as well
HD textures + this please.
The environmental textures and parallax mapping are abysmal. Shit like

hurts to look at
The HD textures already exist! This "option" should be easy to implement.
The only downside effect that can be considered here, is the server traffic needed to download all the huge data (and the additional cost).
Why? When i see those graphics, i could honestly care less. im not here for graphics or pretty pictures. im here for fun and immersion and chilling with the friends. like jeesh i swear pc players want real life graphics in every single game like relax jeesh.
Real life graphics? No thank you.
I like my immersion as well. Whenever there's a close-up of characters and they're near any ridiculously bad textures (ground, mountains, actual wearable armor) though.. it throws me off.
It's less "Yeah, this moment is nice" and more "Holy crap, that looks like absolute garbage!".
Do I want it more "real life graphics like"? No.
Do I want it to look better and not like something my cat threw up after she ate her dinner too fast? Yes.
Some of the textures on armor do remind me of FFIV on DS and how that game was textured. I'm playing with DX9 still, is it still the same with DX11?
Not my picture and 3.3 spoilers

I'm not even too sure if the above image is DX11 or not.
What does that even mean? People just want a nice looking game is all and an option to have a HD texture pack sounds like a good idea.
They need to fix this. I mean look at this. Just look at it. (Warning potential Spoilers of 3.4)

Does this heavy pixelated image looks nice? No it doesn't. It looks really bad.
Bruh thats what that looked like on pc? shoot mine looked slightly bette on ps4 when i saw that scene
What annoys me the most is that the textures are made uncompressed and at 1080p (Maybe even higher) and then compressed down to w/e quality that the PS3 can handle. They have the textures but don't want the PC to completely blow away the PS3.
I'm about to get a new nvidia 1070, It's ordered. Please let my game look as pretty as possible. As pretty as SquareEnix normally makes games.
We all admit that 1.x had issue with going so far into graphic it was an issue but many people have much more capable computer nearly 6 years later.
My hubby and I would both gladly pay a 1 time fee in the moogle store for 4k texture pack.
Everytime there is a closeup in a CS it make me cringe when I see stuff like this.
Until they state that its for time management or low staff reasons then I'm going to keep the assumption its laziness and console whiners. Lots of other games give an option for a high end mode so I don't see the issue. Even then I still won t be happy about whatever they say so I guess it doesn't really matter :)
