Question on shields against DoTs

So I was reading the in the sub-forum on how others handle the bleed on ozma and saw an interesting? post. Person said to "medicaII&asylum/succor then esuna away." I get the medica part, but succor? do shields prevent dot damage? never really looked close enough for me to notice, and Google's not helping.
Cause idk why, but I always felt as if shields block incoming damage, while dots aren't seen as "incoming" to me. ?.?

Shields do prevent that damage if I remember correctly. Though as a SCH i usually just use Fey Caress to aoe esuna the bleed when it pops up

yep its how i handled bosses in toto rak or that annoying guildhest with the blue bubbles as a sch without esuna, adlo and stoneskin absorb the damage, you can test this in labrynth of anciencts as a pld with stoneskin during the behemoth fight will tick for 0 till the shields fade

nice! now I have another way to prevent a potential wipe, lol like when selene is on CD and 5/8 ppl got 2+bleed a succor just might hold the tide a bit longer

Another way to handle the bleeds is for people to spread. It's small aoe targeted to player which can stack. It's not, if I recall right, targeted to same person twice. So if everyone take just one hit (the one targeted to themselves) they get one stack at most which goes away soon enough to not cause much problem. But since people like packs, they get hit by more of those than necessary. I understand that the melee need to stay close to ozzy, but on triangle phase there is no reason for people to stack apart from meteor avoidance.

The bleed DoT damage are kinda direct damage so adlo or succor absorb them as well (i remember A4 Nisi, a critadlo would take up to 3 tick without going off)

Agree to Sida, people are suppose to spread in prévision for the bleeding splash incoming
Even with 3 melee they can spread out easily and still DPS

Priority as a Scholar, at least for the DoT @ Ozma) should be Indomitability -> Queuing Selene's Fairy Caress -> Succor as a safeguard. To answer your question though, galvanize shields almost any damage in exception to the unavoidable raid AoE in the last boss of LoTA (not Flare).

Depending on the dot you can stop it from applying altogether.

We have in this game 2 ways of getting DoTs and Debuffs.

1. The ability of the enemy does just put up the DoT/Debuff -> no way to prevent it with shields.

2. The ability of the enemy does some damage and put up a DoT/Debuff -> in the most cases, when you fully migitate the direct damage of that ability with shields, you also prevent the DoT/Debuff.

Not related to the dots, but do Healers actually want things to be more difficult on Ozma?

I saw a person in Weeping City today saying that it's ok to have stacking meteor impacts (not stacking close enough to explode, just stacking enough that there's no safe spot out of meteor range) because it makes things interesting for the healer. I'm a tank, not a healer, so I wouldn't know better, but...

Is healing Ozma really so simple that it's ok to be lazy with mechanics like that?

Oh Hell to the no !
If the healer is bored because player are awesome and take no damage then he must do his job and contribute to the DPS
The healer must never sit and wait for damage, either prevent them or prépare heal for the incoming damage

Plus on Ozma healing can be very horrible if your co-healer is not managing his aggro and spam heal to the death taking aggro on every adds
And/or if other team are LAZY and give you their adds -,-

1 meteor isnt particularly bad, but most characters dont have enough hp to survive multiple simultaneous hits. Ozma isn't very difficult to heal through. On the little rectangle you get to stand in, we place the tank in the left corner close to the boss, and the party in the right corner close to the boss (careful of the small knock back). No one moves unless a mechanic needs dealt with so most of the time everyone is in cure III range. Very easy fight to DPS in.

Just a side note, I've seen a lot of parties try to spread meteors for whatever reason. This is not necessary and makes the fight unnecessarily complicated. I asked a buddy of mine why he wanted to spread them... he said it was in a "Mr Happy" guide... the meteor impact doesn't happen immediately. You can just stack all the meteor targets at the bottom of the rectangle and have them run back before impac t

When they are to close together, they explode, do a huge raidwide damage and everyone get a damage down debuff. Paired with other mechanics at the end of the fight, this can wipe very fast a group completely.

Hmmm. Perhaps the distance they need to be spread is very small? I have personally dropped these with other ppl at the bottom of the rectangle simultaneously and didn't notice anything significant. We cleared without issue.

Granted, this dungeon is pretty new. I'll look into this again over the w/e

I guess the safe distance is the distance of the rectangular platforms, because closer together will cause a raidwide blast.

My problem with what the guy said was technically true (there's enough room on the rings for two meteors each), but it meant that there was nowhere really out of meteor range. And given how many mechanics there already are to handle, I'm against making things harder for healers, especially since alliances can't really help each other out in Ozma, I think (but could be wrong) that each party is too far to heal.

Always play it safe with mechanics, because at the moment you're gonna have the other parties in your alliance struggling (or you may be part of that group). And I'm pretty sure that the space between each meteor is basically 5 or 8 yalms, which (IIRC) is the same distance for T9 meteors.
