I'm getting a pizza so I can eat my feelings :P
I heard about some of you in the LS selling houses and not being able to get one after the patch. I'm sorry! You can always hang out in the LS house, even though I know it's just not the same.
Debating on leaving the game or not.
Well seeing as i work during the day and would only get on tonight i sort of knew no houses would be left :/
Pizza or Starbucks sounds like a plan for me tonight :)
Sorry for my ignorance, but why is there such a great desire to have a house? I have only been playing for a few weeks so my knowledge of the game overall is lacking.
I was just trying to understand if the desire to own a house is just due to a desire to "own" something, or if there is a benefit to gameplay.
Please don't attack me - just curious. Thanks!
Yeah transferring isn't even and option for me, because SE has some ridiculous notions there too. Want to transfer sure, give us 18 bucks oh annnnd leave behind all your gil, disband your FC and lose all the hours you spent grinding, Rank and Rep and leave behind the RP community one of the main reasons you play and play on the server your on.
I'm not angry, I'm depressed. When I'm angry I want to punch said person or say mean things to that person. So I pass my anger and frustration on bashing mobs instead. When I'm depressed I eat because eating things I like cheers me up a bit. I also go to bed and sleep a lot when I'm depressed. I ate some chocolate earlier but I think I might order some pizza later this afternoon.
It really saddens me that if I would have not gotten those numerous errors at login I might have gotten a house.
There are several features tied to the housing.
-Chocobo Training (When your chocobo hits level 10 you can raise them further to level 20 and even dye them in housing stables)
-Airships (You can build airships and send them on expeditions to bring back rare items or use the airship to get to the diadem without forming a full party in ishgard)
-Orchestrian (Let's you listen to songs outside of an inn room)
-Vendors and other items (Housing allows you to have an armoire, cutscene log, summoning bell for retainers, aethsetician, mender, dye seller, materials vendor, FC bank, mailbox all in one location.)
I may be missing some things, but housing does have many features tied to it that are exclusive only to FC houses. Personal houses are actually lacking some of them.
debating rage unsubbing until housing is plentiful. I have enough games to keep me busy and all I do right now is log in to make gil to save for a house. Now that I have the gil, nothing ever avail. Levianthan sold out in 5 minutes.
I'm remembering why I moved to the biggest servers in the first place and enjoying the fruits of transfers well spent.
debating on skipping 3.3 after i finish story so im caught up with unlocks at least and unsubbing until around ishgard housing system at least
Depends how you look at it and what you want to get out of the game. For some it's a definite deal breaker. My FC has a house and has had one for some time, there's nothing so amazing about it that it trumps other aspects of the game for me personally. Things locked behind housing: Decorating a house, building an airship (really just advanced retainer ventures and access to Diadem without having to go to Ishgard), Chocobo leveling and dyeing, and gardening. I enter our FC house about once a month to go down to the junk monger and buy Dark Matters so I can repair my gear. I'm sure some people use the house, but there's nothing really ground breaking there for me.
In other MMOs housing is not as limited as FF XIV. FF XIV has the worse housing system. Housing means that you get to own your own house and decorate it however you like it. Some games like LOTRO you have to pay a weekly rent, others like here there is no rent once you've gotten your plot. I had a deluxe elf house back when I was playing LOTRO and I had a lot of fun with it. Players had the choice between regular size and deluxe size for their house, while FCs there all got the biggest houses on the wards. There only one house per account per server were allowed and alts could share the same house. Once a ward was full another one was instantly created.
The fact that people want to unsubscribe due to housing is honestly silly. Yeah I get the system may be slightly messed up, but is anyone throwing out any ideas to SE on how to fix it? Or are we just complaining without trying to even help?
Maybe be mad at the players who do this to you guys. It's not SE that's buying the houses before anyone else can and selling them to you and an even higher price. It's the COMMUNITY that's f****** everyone over.
I get other games may have better systems, but this one doesn't have a system like that, and I doubt they're just going to rework their system completely and start from scratch. What they need is ideas on how to make the CURRENT system better; not what SHOULD have been made from scratch, they can't do anything with that.
Personally, I have no ideas on bettering the system because it affects me little. But if anyone finds a reasonable and well thought out solution, maybe make a thread and petition that and SE will catch on and hopefully implement the idea in the near future.
Thanks for all the responses I received in this thread!
Because the only endgame incentive other than raid gear is glamour, mounts and housing. The game constantly throws at you furniture, walls, outdoor furnishings, materials etc., and it does it through retainers, primal fights, raid fights, treasures, dungeons, pretty much everywhere, skipping all this is your choice, but there are some that me that would've liked digging in. Granted, I'd buy a house even if there weren't all the existing features locked behind this system, I've always liked moving furniture and decorating small towns/gardens/houses (I loved Dark Cloud 2 and the construction minigame for instance), but it has got to a point where I'm inclined to think that people are just buying a house for the morbid feeling of seeing how exclusive they are and how many people are willing to sell their souls for one, because when you get to see the effort that the average player puts into decorating their house, you know they don't even care much about it, they just need to feel they are in possession of something exclusive. I know I spent hours and hours and hours decorating the garden of my house before losing it due to inactivity.
I'm fairly convinced housing demand would be way lower if there were infinite plots and everyone could have access to one.
Its basically just a luxury.
And most all like luxury if we can have it.
But 2 things.
- Players think they all deserve it. Which, is not suppose to be the case. Its first come first serve.
- Greedy people abuse it by buying a bunch of them up just to resell them for profit which kills the fair 'race' to buy the houses.
Thus all the QQ
No rage here, mostly because I already knew there wasn't really much of a chance when you have people purposely disrupting the process of buying a house, an entire Free Company out to buy and resell houses, lobby errors, and a queue time of over a thousand.
I'm more surprised people didn't see this coming, though. Releasing new wards is pointless without changing how the system works first, even more now that they dropped the prices on houses.
Very unhappy about this. Actually considering unsubbing. Was disappointed when this came out and I didn't have enough gil to afford a house, but I worked hard and saved up more than enough which took past the point when they added more land the first time. Then felt screwed back in December when they had the reclaimed houses show up at a random time during the middle of Christmas Day. Had family stuff to do and couldn't sit in front of this all day and missed that opportunity. Here (for US players) it was in the middle of the night on a school/work day but I stayed up all night anyway because I really want a house badly and after fighting through lobby server errors and a queue of nearly 1000 players on Gilgamesh, everything I was interested was gone even though I logged in as fast as it would allow me to. I tried, but couldn't make it to any of the last few houses that remained before they were gone.
They really should have locked out people that already own one or more houses on any character on their account for at least the first 24 hours or something to give people a chance to buy their first one. I'm not paying another player more than the cost of the land to have a chance to still also pay full price for the house. FC housing is nice, but it's really best for the leader and their few closest friends that can actually decorate the house and make it the way they want it. I don't really want a room or an apartment when all the rich kids have a whole house and yard and many of them have several. I'd would have definitely considered moving to another smaller server before this if I could have brought all of my gil with me. What's the point of moving for housing if you can't afford a house after you've moved?
The way housing was implemented in this game is so very cool and yet at the same time, probably one of the worst feature it has...
Pretty much this^. Myself and my FC worked to save that extra gil to buy a large plot only to have these pricing cuts implemented. Kinda expected the rush, but like a fool I got my hopes up for patch day! As soon as I got that first lobby error I knew that taking the time to wait out the patch was a wasted morning.
So...No rage to deal with, just crushing disappointment. I can't even begin to understand why they added so few wards after dropping the prices so much as well.
I threw my interest in a house in tke fk-it-bucket a long time ago...more upset about moogles being crafter only.
Guessing you haven't spent a lot of time in the Housing section of the forum. If you had, you would know that many people, myself included, have presented many ideas to better and/or fix the system. Obviously, we're not just complaining about it so that we can read our own posts and feel better.
Sorry, but all players DO deserve a house should they desire one. We all pay the same monthly fee to play the game, and we all should have equal access to the same game features. Like someone else said in another thread, you don't bring cupcakes for only half the class.
Nope sure haven't, haven't seen many housing threads lately either, besides today because of the obvious. And in this particular thread that's all there was, which is why the comment was made in this thread.
If the only time housing issues threads pop up is when new housing is released it's doubtful that SE will consider any actions. Reason I say this is because it's the first few day/s, and they expect people to be mad, but they also expect people to get over it. Which as said if threads only pop up once in a blue moon, SE is bound to over look the typical displeased patch-players. Tried explaining that the best I could, hope you understand what I'm saying.
With this saying though, SE fails in so many more ways than housing then. Because personally, I don't craft and have no form of gil income, and so I, and people like me, miss a lot of things, for example new glamours that people feel the need to price insanely high just because. And then GEAR and Materia (thankful for the Void Ark Materia feature).
The way the FF economy works is pretty much, you either craft a lot and sell things or you're sol. And as you stated, we all pay for this game, I shouldn't be inclined to craft if I don't want to.
Not an equal comparison.
The option to craft is there for everyone even if you choose not to partake. The option to purchase a house is NOT there for everyone, because there are simply not enough houses on the server for every player, let alone every character.
If that had been the intention, then the house mechanics would have been made differently when housing first came out. I read both the JP side and the NA side and the JP side doesnt have much grumping much less people saying they 'deserve' housing. Reading the NA side forums, we are much to greedy. Ones that horde the houses to resell and ones that think they deserve stuff.
Also keep in mind that the less populated servers still had housing available hrs after logins. The players also make the choice to go to busy or non busy servers.
Housing WAS made differently when it first came out. Wards were exclusive to Free Companies.
It's when people started demanding personal housing and SE rushed to give it to them that it all went to hell. Wards, as they are, were a perfect setting for FC housing. Personal, not so much.
My FC was in the closed beta and we were torn between two of the RP servers chosen by the RP community: Balmung and Gilgamesh. Since most of us did not play 1.0 and we wanted to be with players new to the game as well, we chose Gilgamesh over Balmung at launch. it's not our fault so many people have since moved or play at Gilgamesh. I'm grateful our FC has a house and I can at least decorate my room in our FC.
No rage here! Mateus, being one of the lowest if not the lowest pop server, has tons of houses on sale with plenty of empty plots. If you want a house our door is open. :P
