Unable to Update Client

Is anyone else unable to update their client and getting the unable to complete version check error?

That's because there is maintenance, and the servers are down, including the patch/lobby server

I'm aware of the maintenance. I'm aware of the servers also being down. But usually you can still log in with your stuff and see if the patch is available to download. Guess it's different now.

They'll post on Lodestone when you'll be able to update your client with the new patch. It usually doesn't happen this soon since it's a long maint. Just keep an eye on the site.

No right off the back. Usually when the Maintenance is around 60-70% down or there's like a good 5 or 6 hours left in it, they bring the Update/Patch servers so everyone can download the Update to help ease Overflow/Congestion come Completion.

If SE follows pattern then the patch should be ready for D/L around 10:00 PM PDT

The best way to tell when the client will be able to be updated after logging in, is to launch the launcher and see if it does the "updating launcher" which is like 3-5MB If it does, then patch server is available. If it doesn't, then no point in trying to login.

Example launcher update:

If you see that, then go ahead and login, more than likely the patch will be available for download.

Surprised there hasn't been a "do we get a refund/credit for the downtime" post here in the General Discussion section.

I have the same issue, you cannot start the launcher. Not the game, the launcer., boot error, unable to complete version check.

I this normal due to mantenience? If I remember, this didnt happened before, you could start the launcer but not entering the game ( due to servers offline )

Actually there was one similar to this lol. It was about the PS4 Online Maintenance that prevented PS4 players from logging online during the downtime.

You can pretty much bet there will be complaint threads when the servers are due back up and someone complaining they can't get on, when its obvious heavy congestion is bound to hit the very high pop servers.

if you were paying attention to the posts above they said clearly during larger patches the launcher WILL NOT be available till the update is roughly 60-70% done to allow some to begin downloading to avoid or try and avoid heavy congestion this does happen on larger patches in the past when it's been all day mainenance. you guys should take this time to go outside and enjoy that summer weather see the sun for a change.

Hmmm not sure what to suggest Frederick, my launcher is working just fine, brings up the login box and all. It's after trying to login that it fails of course.

I would just try to start it later tonight maybe before you head to bed and might get lucky.

I get the same error, I understand there is a maintaince going on. The only point we're trying to say is normally the launcher would atleast load so you could see the news and updates on things. Which its not doing that. Other friends of mine have stated they get the same message though.. so maybe they have changed the way its being handled. I would hate to still ahve the same problem when the patch actually goes live and miss out on a home ;p When i could of been using this time to fix the issue. But since others got it as well.. I'll wait and see

It normally lets you download a couple of hours before patch maintenance is ending... we still have ~12 hrs of maintenance left. Be patient. :)

True people getting way to worked up about it, I could see if it was closer since maintenance ends at 6am edt and it not working at 3am people coming with their pitchforks being mad they can't update their game but people have been complaining about this as soon as like 3 hours after maintenance started.

Hmmmm, considering its not 6 hours before the maint is supposed to end you'd think they'd put up the update so it could be downloaded. This is especially considering that its most like going to be a multi-gigabyte patch, and not everyone is going to be able to download it in time if they only give one or two hour download notice.

Didn't know there was a thread for this. Well, hopefully someone posts when they successfully get the client to update. I'll stop bothering the other threads since I found this one.

As far as I know it doesn't refresh on its own you'd have to keep closing out and relogging into the launcher to check. Its a bit tedious.

For patch 3.2 the launcher update/download happened 11:35pm pt and the maintenance completed at 1:30am pt. Hope this helps.

you have to close it and keep trying. it has to do the version check when you start the launcher.

Almost 1:30 edt and only about 4 1/2 hours until the game is scheduled to come up, yet they're STILL not letting us start the download for it. :mad:

I don't know how the PC downloads go, but downloading patches to PS3 or PS4 is atrociously slow when the patch servers are busy (or pretty slow even when they're not). A full-sized patch is likely to take significantly more than 4 1/2 hours to download. They really need to get the patch servers up far earlier than this.


EDIT:
Patch servers came up just before 2 am edt, four hours before end of maintenance.
Patch size: 717.25 MB on PS4 (not counting download of the launcher itself)
Download initially estimated at about 2 hours, but that's likely to double or triple as more people hit the patch servers and download speed slows down.

ok, about 45 minutes into the download now, and not only hasn't the estimated time increased dramatically like it usually does, but it's actually decreased a bit. Looks like the patch servers are holding up better than usual and there will in fact be time to finish downloading after all. :)

yup just woke up to do People stuff, threw my pc on thinking i'll get this downloaded, and.... nope! :( gonna summon my sad panda minion.. oh and grab a coffee

What speed internet you use? My PS4 did the update in like 12 minutes.

Anyone having pre-download issues? I keep getting an error message when trying to log into the launcher to start the patch download...

your probably in the queue with the rest of the world, server probably stressing a bit
