That weird feeling after a nerf

So a week or few, I read that they nerfed A6S. I didn\\'t care much since I don\\'t do savage. I laughed a bit to the reactions i see of it being nerfed. But then I remembered Steps of Faith. The uniqueness of that fight, and with no knowledge it was a rather difficult experience. With the stubbornness of other players I was with in DF, we were able to clear it in the few hours it was released. It wasn\\'t that difficult. Then again it was high for the MSQline. Later it got nerfed hard. After running it again, I\\'ve grown to dislike the trial and feel slightly screwed when it got dumbed down. That weird feeling stood with me after that. Is this how Raiders felt when they beat A6S, only to see it get nerfed later?

xD Made my day. 6/10 Steps are still Vote Abandon after 15 min xD

So they will faster give even easier content than harder.

Steps was different as it was MSQ (as you point out), so everyone had to do it to progress the storyline, and a large portion of the playerbase couldn't handle a fight where mechanics couldn't be ignored. A sad state of affairs, but I understand why they nerfed it.

A6S was only being attempted by a few anyway, and raiders are expecting to be challenged, so the nerf was a bit of a surprise, and, speaking only for myself, I didn't so much complain about the nerf as feel a bit disappointed. We were quite close to clearing, and just tightening up the last few runs. We have since cleared post-nerf, so I guess maybe our group was the exact sort of people they implemented the nerf for, but it was still a bit disappointing that we never got the clear before.

Think they were overly nervous they'd have another A3 on their hands, which did break groups, and there was a lot of other weird fallout with people moving servers and stuff trying to find groups

Yea I hate how the game is built only for the worst 20% players and the best 2% of players... Meanwhile they keep watching thier fans unsub lol...

I sorta know what you mean. I noticed with when I got Ultros fight earlier this week. They changed Typhon's mega sneeze move. It no longer knocks everyone out of the ring so no more auto fail for not doing a mechanic. It's.. like "yay" i don't have to lose 30min on this now, but.. newer players will never know the joy of the fight the way it originally was.

It doesn't? Are you sure someone didn't preemptively jump out in order to save everyone else? If I know the imps don't have enough stacks, or one of them simply cannot follow instructions, I'll just jump out before the sneeze. The stun wears off as the sneeze comes out so I jump back in as everyone else flies out.

They did that, because the mechanic did work even worse then when it was implemented. They have a move that evens out the health between the 2 bosses. With the high dmg output today (even when synched) this mechanic is used often right after people get the imp buff. This results in a problem because the imp buffs runs out before you even get the chance to use the stacks on typhoon. This resulted in death even if you played the machanic correctly. Its kinda like the old EX-primals where you are always punished by instant death for too high damage output.

They nerfed it. I did it recently in roulette and didn't get knocked off when I was standing under Typhon.

As for Steps, I think the real problem with it was that there was no way to reset a bad run. People would leave immediately when they got it in Trial Roulette since it took longer than everything else in there so new players wouldn't even get a chance to try.

With all these nerf to trials and dungeons, what I don't understand is why is it so hard to follow instructions. I mean with the typhoon fight you only need 8 stacks which means 1 of the 4 dps can have zero stacks or die and its still doable.

Sadly it was changed. I was just in the fight a couple days ago and I saw that only ONE person was gett hit by the bubbles and all I thought was WELP this is over. The sneeze happens and 2 people fell from being too close to the edge and there was no wipe.

How was it terrible other than no way to reset the fight? It was a pretty cool fight that REQUIRED people to actually take a second to discuss a game plan to succeed. But again that's too much for people to do in gaming theses days.

And that's exactly why it was terrible. Stuff that's difficult enough to the point where the DF usually can't do it is not something that should gatekeep an entire expansion. It would be as asinine to me as making a fight like Titan EX the requirement to getting into Ishgard instead, and that's basically what pre-nerf SoF was like for me in terms of how often you'd get a win on it on the DF.

When pre-nerf SoF was put on the trials roulette, I stopped doing that roulette for a while because the roulette landed on it the vast majority of the time, and the vast majority of the time it would be a group that could not clear the content, so why waste my time?

The initial fight left such a sour taste in many players' mouths, to this day I still very often get people who immediately leave the group when they land in SoF as their roulette, even though nowadays the fight is pretty much pathetically easy to clear. I don't think many even realize that it was nerfed.

You see though, this is why the dragon's neck nerf is so hilarious and/or saddening, because 90% of the playerbase can't even manage to follow the simple instructions of "stand in front of the boss then hit one button".

I've literally never had a pug group able to do this fight without cheesing the mechanic, and it makes me laugh every single time. I don't understand why so many DPS players are so oblivious even when you specifically tell them what to do.

I feel this way in Thornmarch EX. It amazes me how simple that trial is, but people are to dumb to listen to mechanics and do what they are told for a megar 15 minutes to get their clear, even on unsythed.

Wow I guess I missed the patch notes on this one.
That's really sad. The fight was fun. Challenges are fun to overcome. Wish they could just leave things as they were.

They did a lot of stealth nerfs a few patches ago that they didn't really go into detail about. There was a reddit thread about it at some point.

They even nerfed health and damage in a lot of leveling dungeons, including Sastasha normal...apparently baby's first dungeon was too hard? idk lol

Almost as sad as people who give poorly worded instructions to a group and then blame the group for "ignoring them" because they're impossible to understand.
