"Adjust" Housing prices --> Raising prices?

SE don't do it. =_= U already made a lot of players angry making the private housing the same price as FC housing, which i'm sure there are some players out there on the forums with a quote from Yoshi-P saying the private houses would be cheaper(I understand his point for making them more, that's not what I want to argue here)


Don't get me wrong, I think gil could be easier to make today than it was a few years back, but I'm just one person. Players still struggle to make enough for just a small. It feels like the majority of the playerbase can afford a small and these are most likely the players who can't play more and/or r more casual and seeing as u just luv making things easier for the casual side of players and make it appealing to new players in hopes of keeping them players... This seems like it could be a set back.


Or.. If this is rlly ur strategy to combat wealthy players that buy and resell land.. Sure it might set them back a lil and they might lose a lil gil.. but I doubt it's enough to remove the incentive to continue with their market.

N yes I get it. There's not much u can do with those that resell houses without also affecting the rest of the playerbase, just like with the bots.

I don't know what u could do. Maybe in reality this is the only way u think u can thwart them without affecting the rest of us so much.. Which would be a sad truth cus again it's gonna suck for the most of us out there.

They will probably raise the prices. I would say that is a good bet and by quite a bit in my view.

There is a lot more gil in circulation than when housing came out. Raising prices makes sense.

I spent all my gil on a small house (all decorated back then cost me ~7-9 mil) when private housing came out...now I can earn that amount in a day or two if I tried (and I don't have any 3* crafters, so...)

Gil almost appears out of nowhere if you put even a little effort into making it. Almost feels like you have to actively avoid making any to be poor

On my own thoughts, if they ARE gonna 'adjust' housing prices... I really hope they decide to make it so that it's moreso that they make it that there are more servers in the 'rich' list, and only newer servers on the 'poorer' list. That's the biggest adjustment I (hopefully!) see them doing.

Changing prices at this point doesn't do much but make it even more expensive for people who don't have a house. It benefits no one really.

It does make sense dont get me wrong. n yeah gil is easy to make but even still this is my POV and urs.

IMO they should find more ways to remove gil from the game instead of just making specific things more expensive.

Raising the prices only affects the people that put no effort into trying to make gil, if person just looking for a small house currently 5 million gil (the most expensive small) is quite easy to get a hold of.

I've been looking to buy a small house in Sarg but people try and sell it for 15m which to me is ridiculous.

Which they wouldn't be releasing the prices of the land if the prices weren't changing as people pointed out most likely going up in price.

Really? I thought they'd be lowering house prices. 2-5M for a small is really steep, especially for new players, and the others are basically unobtainable without putting in more time than most players can afford.

We've needed a price increase in housing for a long time... since 3.0 launch...

Making gil in game is stupid easy. I had 1 mil on my alt by the time I got to 50 without even trying. ( Just the money bags and money from quests ).

If you're having a hard time making money in game, you're not doing it right.

SE gives us all the tools to make gil easily in this game ( crafting, gathering, ventures, roulettes, extreme drops, chall logs, heck even hunts, fates, treasure maps and monsters give you gil ) but are you utilizing it?

I can easily make 10-15mil a week just making sure my retainers stay full....

Hopefully they raise the prices high enough to keep the housing mafia away so FC's actually have a chance to get houses without having to pay 200% over the value to those sharks.

You really think raising prices will deter the so called housing mafia from buying houses to flip? It will have no impact since they got all the capital to do so anyways. Only thing raising prices will do is peeve off the majority of the player base that is trying to obtain housing.

Well I guess that's too bad because they've already confirmed they're adjusting the prices ( thank goodness! ). And I sincerely doubt they're lowering them for anyone that's hoping this.

3.3 wont be until.. likely June. That's plenty of warning for people to start saving more gil. No reason to be angry. Just start preparing.

they will most likely be raising the prices sadly, with the installments of apartments and many more housing they will probably be pushing players towards the apartments while trying to stop solo players from getting houses as fast (which we know won't work already got my 100mil waiting for my mansion as i speak!)

Aim for more than the current price. Also, that's the most recent official price because it hasn't changed since then.


Houses have desperately needed an increase for a long time. I'm hoping they do the smart thing and only increase the maximum price (drastically), while keeping the minimum price the same.

It may not go away completely but it cut down on it a lot, cause the house will cost more so the flipper will charge even more so the person trying to sell the house with just be stuck with it cause no one will want/be able to buy it if they so poor they can't even afford to buy it from the system. As the current system is there lot of players out there buying houses for inflated price anyways there a whole reddit section dedicated to it, so pretty much won't be any different instead you will be giving that money to the system instead of some greedy player trying to make quick money off of desperate people.

Well the amount of housing is finite, they have a system in place wherein price deteriorates with time so I would expect the initial cost to be ridiculous so FCs have an advantage over the player with 100m saved up. Also, housing in this game doesn't by any means cater to the new adventurer, unfortunately.

Thats how it was with the new wards over a year ago. Ppl paid 65m for a large when new wards dropped. It did lower over time.

Worrying about housing for new players isn't a good practice with how limited housing in general is. That'd be akin to worrying about new players being able to successfully clear Extreme or Savage mode fights right out of the gate lol. Housing is one form of non-combat endgame here, just as Glamour can be.

For all we know though, the adjustments could be referring to any server population shifts (i.e. formerly low pop ones now needing to pay fees that high pop servers have and vice versa). Unlikely, but it'd fit the currently vague statement.

I get the feeling the majority of the new money does not actually circulate, but rather goes from battle classes to crafting classes and then stays there. There are people approaching the gil cap, that money does "not" circulate and that money definitely came from other players primarily. With people hoarding gil like that it effectively fights inflation for everyone else and makes further or bigger gil sinks pointless - the money is already effectively taken out of the system since it does not circulate anymore.

So yeah, I don't see the point.

All it would take to make that impossible is to add in a random delay after a house plot is released before it goes back up for sale. It's already impossible to directly sell a house or plot itself to another player. Players "selling" them are really just selling the timing of when the plot will be relinquished. Make that timing useless as a predictor of when the plot will be available again, and nobody will pay for it. Once nobody's paying for it, nobody will have an incentive to hoard them for resale.

Honestly this game needs a good gil sink, I don't mean buying materia off the market board or anything like that, but an actual system where it gets gil out of the system reliably to keep the inflation down.

While I agree with this, I don't think House prices are a good place for it, mainly because they're a one-time cost and not an ongoing one, and because only a minority of players will (or even can) take part in it.

The only gil-sink on the Market Board is the MB fees that get deducted between the amount the purchaser pays and the amount the seller receives. Increasing those fees could be better as a gil-sink than increasing the cost of housing plots. It's a steady continuous stream and one that automatically adjusts to the server's economy. A continuous stream of a gil sink beats a huge one-time purchase as a gil sink.

It seems like the outrageously high cost of housing has more to do with artificially lowering demand for it to come closer to the woefully limited supply, rather than being a real attempt to provide an inflation-blocking gil sink.

Am i the only one who thinks they are going to unify prices rather than have them separate by server type?

I agree. Completely. They shouldnt just rely on hwousing. They could slap gil fees on a lot of stuff but they dont. This currency is just a mess and the bots arent helping.
