Anima Prediction: How we will customise stats

Because I have to set the bar low with the worse case scenario

IIRC, the devs confirmed that No materia will be involved. Which might be good for the wallets but this also means that the step is almost unpredictable, almost.

My prediction is that they will add a quest to alter the weapon and that it will go two ways

• "At the Mercy of RNG" Path: In which it will involve grinding light until the Anima weapon radiates with the blinding intensity of a thousand white hot suns. The catch is that we can get from anywhere, even PvP and killing over-world mobs. And that the light will direct add a random stats that will add from a pool that consist of...every materia effect, even the useless ones that add to resistances. Getting the BiS weapon will require a way to see which activity yields which stat for which weapon, which will change every 2 hours. Meaning a High chance to say get Spell Speed on Verethragna from a Roulette, and its always active as long as you have the quest (quitting will reset it) which means people vying for the BiS relic might wanna try getting another Weapon to use for the activites they want to do or risk getting a subpar weapon
• "A Grind as Long as War and Peace" Path: In which we instead go for the return of Books. Or rather a long set of objectives that need to be completed before increasing a stat on the weapon. The Saving grace is that we can choose what stats to use, but each list will require 100 specific mobs, 5 specific dungeons, 2 specific 24 man raid, 5 specific FATEs (which will include new ones on 3 days timers), and 5 specific Levequests (Which will also include the Large ones...and the Crafting ones). The lists will be obtained from The House of Splendors for...2000 Esoterics/Lore (depending on patch). RNG will decide the lists objectives.

Once either step is outta the way we can bring that sucker to Azys Lla and presto. A weapon with customized stats that will likely be obtained just in time for the iLevel raise.


Now lets relax and know that whatever step SE will bring out, it likely won't be as bad as this (or cower in paranoia and fear that might be) :P

And this is exactly why, regardless of the means to obtain it, I'll just take my sweet time. I don't rush the relics anymore. I'd rather just enjoy the ride.

Ha! I didn't mind the books at all, thought was one of the better relic stages. Except the fate camping and the 30 brayflox runs for each book lol

Now the light grind stage... for the love of god, please not this again...

A special scroll + many Alexandrite + many Materias for 2-3 secondary stats from materia I - V and with fail chances

The rng will be not in the choice of the stats, only in the success in putting in the wanted stat.

People, who already complained about the needed gil in the ilevel 210 step, should stop here

agreed the lights were the worst part... books werea close 2nd for me tho

It has been observed that the relic quest frequently encourages players to do content that was previously ignored, such as unidentifiable items coming from Gordias and aether oils from the towers quest. So what are people not doing right now?

Diadem?
Coil?
Lords of Verminion? (OK I don't really expect it to be this)

Well Diadem has been shall i say DEAD. Which is a bummer because Pegasus had awaited me, no he be gone somewhere else tired of waiting for me...
Previous relic atma was the worst, followed by waiting for the darn fates for the book portion. Crafting i really do not know why they added it again tbh, i just hope they have a "fresh" idea, not the same nonsense.
Perhaps we will be required to get dungeon drops again? Sigh

I like to imagine that the devs have a whiteboard with the sentance...

"The next stage of anima is *Insert old dead content here*"

And they just keep that there until the next expansion and change anima to whatever is next...

So this next step? Who knows? Guildhests? Levequests? 5000 Titan SM runs?

As long doesn't use Materia melding again or stupid expensive crafting things is ok. I like something like the Animus books (but without FATEs that take ages to spawn).

You have to choose between differnet book. Each book will give you a determined ammount of an specific stat. For example, for Tanks, you can chose between Parry, Critical hit Rate, Determination, and Skill Speed, and accuracy maybe. THe basic stats, like VIT and STR will be automatically corrsponding the item level als always. We can put every book give you 20 of a single stats, so you can use 6 Determination book for a maximun of 120 Det, but once you reach the cap on a stat, you cannot get more books from that type. This can take some time and people won't be struggling with the stupid high prices from Market board to meld materia and get the perfect relic, (like hapens with the fucking Novus)

I like the idea of choosing a book to get the wanted stats.
The only thing I hated in the book (and I think, most of us hated) was camping Fate. I hope they put some fate, but more like "3-10 fate in xxx or yyy zone" instead of specific Fate.
Likewise, for killing mobs, i'd rather have kill 100 from a list of mob instead of 10x10 of this specific kind (cause it'll be another battle of first to get aggro if it's specific)

How to customize anima. Be war. Have crit+det anima. Done customizing :)

it could go a way we'd never expect like: Fight "this" so many times or grind so many of "these" turn it select Primary 2ndary stat -> select 2ndary, 2ndary stat -> done with primary being 60% of total pool for 2ndary stats.... Gods I wish it was that simple -_-! but knowing SE it shalth never be, even thou 3.25 stage was stupid simple for some reason

I'm really hoping Gerolt is just like "Yo, which stats do you want on this thing?"

Barring that, I hope the quest is to do something to get bottles of booze for Gerolt, each stat point can cost a bottle, and it won't be because he needs it to work, he's just trying some hair of the dog to shake off the hangover from drinking half the aether oil you brought back.

Bard relic doesn't need customization, its already awesome! if they go with the materia way, it will be totally pointless because we'll put the same stats on it...

They use relic steps to breath life into old content, right? I figure they might throw people back into diadem.

And also 20 items that only drop from the last boss in Aurum Vale.

A lot of people say the Diadem is dead.
While it may not be serving it's original purpose, it is still the fastest way to accrue grade V materia.
I find parties going, full alliances even, at times.

obtain 1000 ultima weapon fragments in the praetorum, obtain 1000 white magitek plates from castrum merdanum, obtain 1000 soul fragments from the aetherial research facility, obtain 1000 pieces of "sickness must be pruged" from the vault complete that rare fate in the forelands with the tortoise solo,,,,collect 2000 steel sky pirate spoils in the diadem, or 2000 brass

I really don't care what it is as long as it never involves HQ crafting again.

My prediction

Kill 200 mobs in Sea of Clouds to apply +1 Accuracy
Kill 200 mobs in Coerthas Western Highlands to apply +1 Skill Speed
Kill 200 mobs in Dravanian Forelands to apply +1 Spell Speed
Kill 200 mobs in Churning Mists to apply +1 Piety
Kill 200 mobs in Dravanian Hinterlands to apply +1 Determination
Kill 200 mobs in Azys La to apply +1 Crit

Maximum 150 per stat, 275 total - meaning you need to kill 55,000 open world mobs to apply your stats. This is, of course, after the grind to move your weapon from 230 to the next stage.

My prediction is that it's going to involve the new treasure dungeons. They're running out of old content to revitalize, so some parts are definitely going to need participation in new content as well.

Another prediction is that it's going to require going through the Level 50 EX trials, all of them at least once.

They haven't started to touch the level 60 roulettes yet, which is the 'bulk' of outdated content. They may also wish to revitalize WoD, Diadem, and they also have Library they have yet to touch (For some reason wasn't included in the original Relic quest. Strange choice.)

Not only that, but even the current expert will be instant-invalidated next major patch, which is likely to introduce 2 more new dungeons (Sadly not 3 because... Reasons.)

Just a clarification here. Diadem was necesary for the 210 Anima, because you need material only availiable there (Well, not much activity here now). WoD was "revitalized" (More or less) with the 230 step (it's something) because you can get a Aether Oil from the Crystal Tower weekly.

In 2 steps you need the 2nd best tome to buy stuff. Lv60 roulette give you the 2nd best tome.

Frequently, we have used Tomestones, but it's usually a Tomestone + X, never just tomestone. For example,

(Well, there was a step before all this that had us doing a few dungeons that I forgot to mention <.<*)
Step 1 was Crystals and Fates.
Step 2 was Tomestones, Alexander, and Beast Dailies.
Step 3 was Towers revitalized + Tomestones.

"Tomestones" is never revitalizing old content, and is not considered as such. They will likely handle it like they did with books, where eventually, they will see us re-entering it.

The original relic didn't touch Amdpaor Keep (HM), Wanderer's Palace (HM) or Keeper of the Lake (HM) ifd I recall correctly? So they'll likely pull that going forward, too.

Amdapor Keep (HM) and Wanderer's Palace (HM) are already in step 2 of the Anima questline, where you have to visit all the dungeons from Brayflox (hard) until The Vault

Keeper of the Lake (HM) is not ingame yet

Thanks for the correction. It's such a footnote of a step compared to some of the grinding we've had to do in the past that this relic -really- didn't leave much of an impression, lol.

If it is Diadem, then I want the relic upgrade to unlock instantly, but for it to only be unlocked in Diadem.

After that give us the ridiculous long quest. The final reward this patch can be that the upgraded weapon can now be used outside of diadem.

Though I know realistically I'm just going to end up biting the bullet and doing whatever they throw at me because I hate adding to my tome grind for new tome weapons that have new sub-stats every patch...

Ill take books any day over HQ crafting items Again.

in all honesty i can forsee books AND alexandrite-ish maps coming into play after some thought. maybe that same 1 per day map for doing roullette, then you can buy more maps with poetics/esoterics. The catch is that each map will drop a random BOOK of with a random Stat, using the book would be like the same thing as the animus books, and you cant use another book until completing one but the. biggest catch? book stat is random each map. To be fair they'd be stackable for future use, but youd still have that hair pull factor. each book is 3 dungeons fates etc, the only other thing is lights which is fine. The thing about 2.x relic grinding seems to be that it makes you dislike all content besides raids by spamming in ad nauseum... so who knows

Something vile and time consuming no doubt, the last upgrade was mucho easy compared to the unidentified items/crafting items section...so they gonna give us a horrid one >.<
