Part of the reason you really don't see this much is because of how the devs try to force the holy trinity and required number of party members at every turn. In most other games, you tend to see a lot of solo or undermanned vids of content being won, despite the odds. I mean, we can see that here, but people have to usually be clever about it, such as queuing with friends and they leave once you're in.

Look how long it took them to allow solo and undermanned queue, and even that has some harsh penalties put in place lol. I get there's some technical limitations (can't have 300 people queuing to solo a single prime battle) and the affect it could have on lowbie dungeons or player mentality about "soloable" content. Of course, just like those other games, you probably won't see people playing jobs/classes that really don't have good survival mechanics soloing those difficult things lol.

An even bigger reason though is just because of how they designed a lot of jobs here. Survival is hardly the name of the game for DPS roles now. BRD was really the only one that had such a mechanic, and while they technically still do (at the cost of better output), the devs have been conditioning players to follow the bland format. Creativity is actually pretty difficult to have happen when the core gameplay is being suppressed in the name of balance and structured design.

Its incredible what the ability to put up a 2.4k to 2.6k shield up every 15 seconds does to a healing intensive fight.

Seeing all those goring blade dots and circle of scorn dots made me smile. I don't think folks realize how much dps goring blade is now, it's something like a 600+ potency DoT after the buff iirc.

I'm seeing a trend of "Minimum ilvl" parties for old coil and stuff on my sever, leviathan, but I wish there were more creative parties like this instead. To me, the minimum ilvl groups are a been-there done-that kind of feeling. I get it that some people weren't around for the lvl50 content when it was new though and want to see what it was really like.

Maybe I'll start some oddly balanced groups on my server, just, I'm not a bold leader, or good with people... lol I don't really talk well on the spot. Even here on forums, I'm always typing and retyping my posts before I hit the send button. I can't really don't that when in voip or whatnot.

I'd kind of like to do like a 7 tank 1 healer midas normal run or something. Hmmm...

Haha. On my server I own my own fc and a huge linkshell with Nice and cool players. We managed war run and some People really wanted 7pld run. We had few wipes with a whm healer at 2%, before the run we did on the video happened. I prefered being a sch than pld for this run as Well. We probably Will do 7drk, but it wont be as hard as pld for sure. We plan doing some more weird setups and other cool stuff for community to watch and Hopefully enjoy. I Would help you guys with clear runs but sadly we arent on same server.

Cheri, I might do that 7 tank 1 healer run later and stream too :).

But those are some lovely plds (and sch) who know how to play. :( then you get in PF, clear party/know all mechanics, wipe to first towers in phase 3 (yellow/green debuffs) and someone goes "lol that's the furthest I've ever gotten!!" and someone else chimes in "me too!"

My raid static went back and did T5 in i80-85 gear as a challenge to ourselves. It was actually a lot of fun. :3

When you get to the point that you're overgearing the content and just facerolling it, it's always fun to do things to liven it up a bit. Everyone go on alt jobs. All of the DPS go on the same DPS job. Run it with 7 Scholars. Shake it up a bit! :3

Yeahhhhh that's a whole different story. I dunno why some people seem to think that "know all mechanics" and/or "know last phase" is synonymous with "has seen first part of last phase as they lay on the floor." :/

Giving up ? Neva :D just a good challenge to myself against my playtime. Either walking in and clear with my PLD full lore gear, or DRG full lore gear whichever comes first.
