Anima weapon's quest

Hi everyone,
Since the Questline patch 3.2, the anima weapon got harder than before, we have 3 ways to get the items from the anima quest, 680 Eso/Poetic, Beast tribes, Alexander Gordian Normal mode.
Now that we have Midas, Gordian is a sad forgotten stuff that we can't find a party to farm some tokens, so... we should get another way to get the tokens, other than doing the roulette and the rest of the day doing beast tribes to get one to two tokens a week per tribe, so... what do you guys think? we should get a nerf on the amount of itens we need to deliver of we should get another way to get it? maybe doing something like gordian to midas.

They will likely be nerfing it within the next patch.

80 unidentifiable items are way too much, it needs to come down.

That said... Currently sitting at 79 and will hit 80 today. Would like to see something resembling a nerf of that step for others in my FC. There are certain grinds in the game that are absurdly high at the moment and really need to come down some. Namely the 80 unidentifiable items and the grind to get the ilvl 170 crafter / gatherer gear mats. Not saying to get rid of the entire grind, but they're too high right now.

There's actually two additional ways to get tokens - treasure maps (average seems to be one every 10 or 15 maps) and Allied Seals from Hunts.

Alright... i didn't count the allied seals and hunts... but those are the less reliable way since when I was trying to do some hunts they were killed so fast that I gave up on farming them. depending on the server it's too difficult to get the full bonus from a Hunt, and if it takes around 10 maps to get a token we still have almost 2 weeks to get one, if you are not lucky just like me I opened around 30 maps and I got 2 only.

Personally, I thought 75 Alexandrite/75 Materia for the 2.0-era relic was worse than this. Took awhile to nerf that.

I partialy agree with you, since materia IV was really hard to get, but we could get alexandrite from any fate and even with RNGsus being bad with all the FFXIV players, I think the gate to get one item is way to big since the best eso DG give us 80 eso (not counting the roulette bonus), and it takes 20 to 30 min to clear it, so 680/80 = 8,5 dgs so its 170 min that is almost 3 hours farming dungeons, 4 days farming beast tribes and 10 S-rank Hunts or 25 A-rank Hunts and the RNG from Maps that we just don't have a way to predict when we will get a token.

Alexendrites, not so much since you had the option to expedite it, and you'd get 1 daily from a quest. The materia on the other hand though...

Doubtful the number of items needed will go down, but rather the cost of said items.

I don't see what the problem is here. This is meant to be a grind and not something most people can finish in a week. Just do your dailies every day, BST, Roulettes, some hunts here and there and you will get all 80 items without much effort at all. Also, I still see people running Gordias all the time, I say this because 1 out of every 6-7 DR: Mentor runs pops me into Alex 1-4 as well as seeing on Excalibur PF groups forming to farm one of them 10 times for the precision items.

It's more on the context of this quest no longer holding true. They had intended for relic to be another method of getting to that ilvl(210 in this case), which was only possible through clearing a4s at the time, or three weeks of tomestones and void ark after I think 3.17. That's no longer true now and it's very disproportionate when you compare the means of obtaining a i210 now.

In comparison, the follow up quest is beyond easy and can be completed in an extremely short amount of time. This in turn nets you an i230 weapon which is either good/bad depending on your job. Unless they make every step as grueling as the previous step, they shouldn't be nerfing anything until later in the patch cycles. Just because the i210 version is outdated, doesn't mean the current end step is.

And in comparison to what the developers have mentioned the anima questlines being (an alternative way to get similiar ilvl), obtaining a i230 tomestone weapon is relatively easy as well when it requires 3 weeks of tomes and 7 weeks of clearing A8 once when compared to getting a i210 previously.

I would argue that statement only holds true for the current step in the quest line. As you just stated, obtaining an i230 tomestone weapon takes 7 weeks of A8 and a little over 2 weeks of tomes (assuming no savage raiding). To upgrade the i210 relic to 230 requires at a minimum 5 weeks of LotA, ST, WoD runs. That seems comparative to me and a faster alternative compared to the minimum 7 weeks to get the i230 weapon via tomes. At this point in the game, people who do not have their i210 relic are those who aren't really trying to get a relic to begin with. I count myself in this group as I'm 79/80 on unidentified. It really isn't hard to get all 80 items if you actively work on it (roulettes, Beast dailies, ect).

While following the 2.X series relic trend, SE will eventually nerf the 200 > 210 step, I feel that it is still too soon to do so. If people don't want to actively work on their relic while it is relevant, they shouldn't be expecting a quick nerf to a step so they can easily catch up to the current stage. At a minimum, I would argue that the current step and previous 2 steps should remain unchained, when a step becomes past the last 3 introduced, they should ease the requirements. In this situation, they should raise the drop rate for the FATE Crystals upon the next step being released (let's be honest here, they can't really nerf running the dungeons step as that is already short and relatively easy to do).

I personally see 2 more steps being added prior to the next series of Alexander raids, an i240 step in 3.3 and i245 in 3.35. If that holds true, I would argue they should wait until the i245 upgrade step to ease the requirements of the 200 to 210 stage.

That's part of the point I'm getting at. If we're comparing step by step on the amount of time investment:difficulty for each upgrade, the i210 aspect is incredibly disproportionate after they removed the tomestone cap and made the gobtwine obtainable through void ark (which is also no longer weekly capped). The difference in this is that in order to get the 230 via relic, you have to get the 210 first, compared to being able to skip straight to i230 with the midian gears (though this is mostly for alts and new-players).

In that context, their reasoning of relic/anima being an alternative to a specific ilvl no longer holds true due to the progression-aspect of relic/anima and the i210 step being unchanged in relation to the other options for i210.

Favors don't take that long at all.

The unidentified items are dumb though.

You are arguing for them to make that step easier because obtaining an i210 is easy now. Due to the nature of the relic upgrade process you can't take the current method to get an equivalent ilvl of a past stage. I say this because you are ignoring the fact that the later stages take into account the time it takes to obtain the prior stages. Essentially, think of it this way, they are taking into account that it takes X amount of time to complete stage W therefore stage Y will require Z amount of work.

Also, keep in mind that by your logic, you can now obtain multiple relics at a fraction of work which devalues the relic overall imho. Tome gear and weapons in nature are devalued the moment the next ilvl tier is released whereas relic is not only an alternative choice, but also an investment that gains interest over time (i.e. upgrading it over multiple patches and eventually being able to customize stats).

For the most part, I don't think the majority of people in the "Don't Nerf" camp are of the mind to never have that stage nerfed. I feel that the majority of us are in the mindset of "It's too soon to nerf" as we know based off past trends that a nerf will happen eventually.

Lastly, if so many people feel the work isn't worth the end product, then why complain about it? You are exercising your right to choose not to obtain that item as you feel it isn't worth the effort to obtain. In that regard, it is still an alternative weapon choice that you are choosing not to pursue. Just because you do not like grinding and you feel that the relic itself is too much of a grind, doesn't mean others do not enjoy a grind and actually find it enjoyable. Those who do not raid and do not like grinding have the option to obtain a tomestone weapon. Those who do enjoying raiding are given an option of a tomestome and raid weapon (and a relic if they enjoy grinding as well). Those who enjoy grinding are given an option via the relic (as some people feel that the tomestone weapon is on par with a charity weapon and take no enjoyment in obtaining one).

(The you in the last paragraph is a generic you and not directed at any one person)

Edit- When I mentioned current step in a previous post, I was talking about the most current step of the relic quest line. As stated above, I don't think you should compare past portions of the relic quest with their tomestone weapon equivalent when that tomestone weapon is no longer relevant.

Favors are RNG and share a weekly capped resource with the ilvl 180 gear. I'd have no problem with them if not for the red scrip overlap.
