Dark Souls 3
Almost everyone I know is playing DS3 right now. Myself included. Major game releases always pull from MMO's for a bit.
Probably the above stated. But also its a down time in between patches, with a quick relic quest for the last one. People will do their thing and move on.
Lol though, I got on my Gilga character yesterday, and Gilga now, is more busy than Jenova has ever been.
I agree Zones have seemed more empty as of late (even before Dark Souls 3 was out) but I just figured it was ppl wern't on cause I log in at the "slow" times for my server... that & maybe that rumor I herd about some FC on our server (PF was full of hate & spite last 2 days)
I think this happens when every patch starts to die out, plus as others have said, DS3 will pull a large amount of the playerbase away for some time.
I don't think it's that empty, besides the reason for Limsa being more populated is because the Aetheryte and the Market Board are side-by-side, which means one less loading screen. There's always a lot of people that might spend the whole day/play time by their company houses or personal houses with friends. Sometimes the player search shows me more people at Mist/Goblet/LBeds than the cities.
But yeah, Dark Souls 3 is there, also pc version of FF9, alongside with Tree of Savior, Paragon and some other titles.
It happens when you are level 60 and no new items have been added to the fates or hunts since the release of Heavensward.
You must be on a bad/low pop server. Hyperion has people everywhere you look and queues rarely take longer than 10 minutes (unless you're doing something like gordias).
Yeah I can back up Areku here. Seems we've got activity just about everywhere lately.
Definitely quieter then usual though on Hyperion.
Far from dead, just quieter, many about but a lot afk. Late eve seems to pick up quite a bit which is nice to see!
Its expected with new games releasing and it is kind of a "lull" time for content.( at least it feels that way for me)
Every game experiences the same thing, so its quite normal. ;)
Pretty sure it is currently the most populated server. Last census puts them at 1.5 the pop of Hyperion for all levels and about the same for level 60s. Turns out Balmung has a slightly higher pop than Gilgamesh. The overall population isn't great to go by though as a lot of those will be bots. But the level 60 is more reliable.
Gilgamesh is right up there with Balmung yes. Also still plenty of people in Ul'dah and Gridania even if they are spread out a bit more in comparison. Still got people running fates in Coer Western and Central, run into people doing Vath dailies (and a little less with the Vanu dailies). And PF is about the same as ever.
Lots of people have the 230 Relics and/or 230 Lore weapons and are not really shooting for anything else (some statics are also in need to replacements). People without raid groups tend to cap loot in Midas Normal exactly at reset, and some capping Lore withing a day or two. They claim there's nothing left for the rest of the week.
On Malboro, it's usually quiet around 1am central time.
IDK, there are still large hunting parties here on Famfrit. And PF is still full on weekends. But DS3 has taken away some and in May I wouldnt be surprised if UCH4 takes some people away for a while.
Tank Que Woes /We have 3 Tank Classes and if they were more of a joy to play at lower levels or in general that'd solve Dungeon Ques
It's not an issue on Balmung, thankfully. It's consistently busy almost everywhere - which is very nice. For smaller servers, though, there's always going to be 'dry patches' where activity levels dwindle when there's a break between content patches or a major game releases.
We just hit the part of the patch where everyone has their Lore weapon, has farmed Seph EX and the raiders only log in for Midas Savage. Also yeah, Dark Souls 3.
Wait till Final Fantasy XV comes out, I seriously hope SE have a contingency plan for it because the active numbers will drop big time.
The only thing I've noticed is less bird farms in party finder. But that's probably due to a combination of people already having them and everyone else deciding they'll wait until the drop rate goes up.
So many hollows here.
Time to purge.

Dark Souls III came out as well as Final Fantasy IX on PC which is what's keeping me from the game other than logging in for an hour to do 60 and EX for lore. can see why people think this is now a job when it comes to logging in daily for that stuff. I tend to avoid Limsa and Idyllshire unless I absolutley have to go to those places, can't stand the meme speak.
I agree, I avoid limsa too, though convenient but with people talking out loud its so obnoxious to deal with, especially getting your chatbox bombarded with redundant stuff. It is fine if its constructive conversation and stuff but I've seen really odd ones like taking role-playing to the extreme or over-socializing(Especially if they find out you're a girl).
Anyway, I think its a little quieter because of several games coming out this month, on the 3DS you have bravely second and Fire emblem. You also have darksouls & TOS. Tonberry is a little quieter than usual over the past weekend but it is still as populated (having to queue to get in).
Oh, fellow Tonberry player! Then you know how bad it is. I've had to report people several times because of the disgusting things I see get sent in shout chat. I think I have half the regulars in limsa black listed, I find that I just go to Old Grindania for my market board needs, it's a little out of the way but that place is so peaceful.
Wow so Limsa is the place on your server too? I wonder what it is about that place. In Grid there is just the occasional emoting, mostly by leafs but in Limsa there is dancing, emoting and a lot of open chatter. I tend to just not go there unless I need to.
There are a few people who like to talk in shouts in Azys Lla about the silliest things and get annoying when I am out there red scrip farming but I think I got most of them blisted at this point.
hello~ :D Yeah sometimes its hella creppy, I mean green jokes are funny at times but there is a time and place for everything, they really go overboard at times.
Yup haha idyshire too but mostly limsa, azys lla is rather quiet in my server. If only I took a ss of their conversation.
I know I've been logging in less because it's School Crunch Time.
Gotta get them good grades man.
(also I got FE Fates and I'm running Revelation PLUS an all-swordmaster Birthright run.....)
The only thing I really dislike about LL these days is the bgm. Version 1 nailed the bgm for LL
For those who didn't play v1 or know Navigator's Glory, here you go...

Its a combination of the patch lull new games out like Dark Souls 3 and the lore(7 weeks) is about it. This is about the lull and end to the 3.2 series that youll just grow to accept. Theres little you can do about it but cap lore/scrips/etc. It will get more lively in 3.3 but for now the only highlight is feast, which has gotten alot of complaints apparently. Dont get me wrong, we got alot of mini updates int 3.2 series but look on the bright side, it probably wont be worse than the 6 months of nothing after 3.0. What do people like me do in these lulls? I just get more jobs to 60 until something interesting and new comes out
I'm guilty to playing less because of Dark Souls 3 (awesome game btw, already cleared NG while co-oping with my gf who is *way* better at the game than me).
That said, I'm experiencing the 'patch lull'. Being at lvl60 and also a non-raider, there isn't really that much for me to do right now other than lore roulettes (or the 210 weapon grind but I don't want to burn myself out). I don't feel like leveling more jobs to 60 either, because it will be the same usual dungeon routine/boring fate grind again.
With Dark Souls 3 out now (and Battleborn in a few weeks as well), I see myself playing the game to a lesser extent than a few weeks ago, when I was on nearly all the time. I really wish there was a larger variety of things to do at 'end-game', as I rather enjoyed all the things you could do in ARR's endgame.
guess dark souls 3 is a reason, ya. played it myself.
though not much reason to log in beyond your weekly caps anyway, especially if your static is very limited with their times and still can't beat A5S...
working on another relic, but crystal grind is so boring and tedious
