Too Many Tokens

There are way too many tokens in this game that should be currency and/or key items instead.

Relic has 4 unidentifiable items.
Midas has 4 tarnished items.
Gathering and Crafting each have counterfoils, red scrip tokens, blue scrip tokens, crafting receipts, plus the bazillion different types of bridge tokens gathered for crafting materials.
Certain quests drop token items like flamefang choker, coral armband and titan [metal]shield.
There are more, but you get the idea.

The point is, this all takes up inventory space when it doesn't need to. It's just bloat.

Totally agree. I think the reasoning that has been given before is that tokens need to be able to be stored & accessed differently to allow hand over to the NPCs. I don't know why it's different for something called Tomes of X than it is for, say, Beast Tribe Tokens. To me it seems a waste of server resources given that the Inventory needs to be updated near constantly whereas Key Items & Currency only need updating on changes.

Could not agree more! I have currently 31 spaces in my inventory filled with tokens (and there are many more which I don't have) that in my opinion belongs to quest inventory! :mad:

Unidentifiable items, tarnished items from gordias (both for anima), gear tokens from Midas, beast tribe currency, red scrips, blue scrips and more! Please put them into quest inventory.

Thanks for raising this issue OP. At the moment I have 3 beast tribe currencies, crafting and gathering tokens and the unidentifiable items for the relic all taking up room in my bags. It makes gathering and crafting a pain, because I'm constantly shuffling items between my character and her retainers. I have sold stuff to make room but often find I need it and have to buy or gather it again. In other words, I could really use the slots these items are taking up.
What''s really annoying is my 'key items' tab is mostly empty. Even doing the hunts and treasure maps, I don't think I've ever filled up more than two lines of it.

I have so many tokens... more than one page of them so special quest inventory would not be enough.
Please remove tokens from inventory and teat them like Gil / PGS / tomes / scripts.

In currency menu, there is an "Other" tab that's not being used. Let's put all those items, including Atmas & Crystals, in there.

When currency was moved out of the character window and given a window of its own, I was really hoping that was done as an initial step towards being able to move all these extra currencies and tokens out of our inventory to keep them there. Now they need to follow through and actually move them all there. Get all these beast tribe currencies and miscellaneous tokens out of our inventory.

But we do still need a lot more put in there. At the very least, there should be another tab for all the different Beast Tribe currencies. And things like Venture Tokens could be added to the first "Common" tab.

Agree 100%. Put all "currencies" into the currency tab. While your at it, remove the caps on totals.

Currency should be ANYTHING that is only used to exchange for another item, and should include: Beast tribe currency, Ventures (currency for your retainers), all the various tokens (red and blue, crafting and gathering), clan marks and logs, upgrading items (all the Alexander Gordias and Midan drops), Pirate spoils, Aether Oil, Mhachi Farthing, etc, etc.

Maybe not even in the currency tab. Just put them in key items instead. There is plenty of room in there that is NEVER used

At this point...there's becoming so many tokens that the token tab would need token tabs. Primals, Tomes, Alex, Relic, Beast tribes, Diadem, Scrips. It's crazy.

Add more into the currency tab + Wildstar crafting tab. And Wildstar housing. And Wildstar glamour system.

I think instead of clogging up the key items or the currency page or the quest log or whatever, we should just be able to submit our tokens to their respective NPCs, and they'll hold onto them for us. We can check how many we have by going back to the NPC and talking to them or something.

Scrips, Ventures, beast tribes tokens should go to Currencies tab.
Primals tokens, Alex tokens, Mhachi farthing, etc, should be key items.
Thats what I think, anyway.
One question, though, as I'm away from the game right now: can Key Items be discarded? I think that would be the only counter-argument to moving those items to key item...

Raid tokens
Crafter scripts
Gathering scripts/favors
Diadem tokens
Fishing baits
-I consider that all those essential items should be move to the forever empty key items section, bcuz why not? Key items never see it pass 7 including huntings...

If you pick up a dozen beast tribe quests that have between one and three key items each (as the Ixal ones do, for instance), plus have a hunt bill or two or maybe a miscellaneous item from whichever MSQ you're in the middle of, then you most certainly can fill the key items tab.

(I've never actually seen what happens when you run out of room there, since I more typically do 6 of those quests at a time, and then the other 6, and there's room enough that way. Maybe next time I'll try doing all 12 together and see what happens. My guess is that you can't advance the quest, just like if it needed to put something in regular inventory when your inventory was full.)

I think you can't fill it since there is a limit on concurrent quests you can start. But I'm not sure ^^

I was just going to post this but searched for a post to like, at least if they can treat it like the other currency it would help, or even key items, as theres a lot of room in key items.

How about ditching the crafting/gathering currencies entirely and just get the scrip envelopes directly? I.E. collectable ->turn in-> envelope rather than the current system of collectable -> scrip -> envelope. That extra step could definitely go. They'd just have to convert the scrip specific items (master books costing envelopes instead of scrips). Ditch the counterfoils and ditch the crafting/gathering receipts while you're at it to but leave the envelope cost the same.

Or even a friggen wallet which is an item in the inventory but acts like a bag for currency tokens... BUT They will never fricken fix this because they make SO much money off extra retainers. Beast tribe tokens etc are literally just cash schemes by SE.

Understatement of the year. I second guess leveling another class, doing a dungeon purely because I know how limited the space already is. This expansion they told us about can't come soon enough!

If it's not an inventory expansion, it had better be a better Currency tab for items that exist only to be used at special vendors. I even threw away all my Titan Cobaltpieces from the kobold tribe because I forgot they're used to buy stuff.

Whilst on the subject of tokens remove the stupid low caps on lore/scrips. I mean when u first made it 450 we had 4 less classes so it wasn't as bad. Now we have many classes at 60 and an extra 4 classes since the start of ARR.

We also have silly things now like alex/lore weapon get 7 tokens for weapon, yet palace one is easier and better to get. Then we have Anima you go through all the **** to get the 230 and then just do palace in a day to get a 235. I wouldn't mind if palace was challenging in comparison but it is not.

I dunno what @coco1851 was talking about though, hopefully there IS an expansion of inventory coming or some sort of update come the next expansion?

I must admit there are way too many for my liking. Including all the ones OP mentioned plus all the gear tokens which exchange directly for gear whether from dungeon type tokens and NPC trade in ones for glamour gear, the general Dow/DoM ones like soldiery, poetics, law, esoterics, lore exchange tokens on top of airship (exploratory and diadem) ones too like spoils and such. There is also seasonal ones which end up taking up space if have an excess of them during the event itself. Beast tribe tokens too. Not sure what exactly SE could do about it as it will get worse as time goes on but I do agree there is a huge amount these days already.

Copy the code used for manderville point vouchers
-> Turn every token item into a usable voucher, which is consumed in the process and simply increases the currency for the respective vendors, filed in the currency tab.

That is assuming they cannot just put them in the currency tab directly for whatever limitations. This workaround already exists ingame with Manderville points, so I have a hard time seeing why it could be problematic to implement.

Honestly they are able to add new Tombstones and take away old ones so there should be absolutely no issue with them taking at least the beast tribe tokens and stickign them in there.

I also think there SHOULD be no issues - but hells I know how their code looks like. Take the 10 lore tokens you need for the weapon - it seems they are unable to directly process the currency (tomes) and the other tokens (gears) at the same time. I can't remember any case where we use two currencies for the same purchase on vendors either. They might not even be able to process that with their code given, hence the workaround with the handover menu >_>

Also, another coincidence: No "currency" ever has an actual item. Whenever they give players a choice, for example between the beast tribe tokens and the venture, they can't make any of the options a currency, only items, which might have an incompatible file format. This does not excuse the tokens you get for quest-turn in from FATEs however, but that then begs the question if currencies can even be a requirement for quest completion. I can't remember a single quest where that would be the case so again, it might be their code doesn't allow for that.

Note, I have no clue if they simply want to promote retainer buying, if they lack ideas, if they're too restricted by their framework or any combination of that. I just see a big mess, am trying to understand and want change. Ideally pocket change, which goes into the currency tab.

In honest it HAS to be a retainer buying scheme, because the beast tribe tokens are absolutely not required for any form of quest hand in etc. Plus even then, items don't need to be used... Something you gotta think about is this, there are /3 requirements etc for you to simply search a destination, kill a mob, etc. They just need to build it into the quest that you killed the mob with a gold... Bam, you secured the objective!

There's no real excuse for what they are doing other than money mongering :(.

No confirmation of Inventory expansion but the armoury chest must expend when the new classes come in there will not be enough room in the current armoury for all the main hands of all classes.
Currently there are 23 main hands and since they have announced Red Mage and Samurai, would bring us to 25, which would leave no room at all for weapon exchange, i.e. Relic or upgrade.

Ok, I tried it, and it turns out you can actually pick up more key items than there are slots. The key items interface simply adds an additional page when needed.

Normally, there's a "1" button at the top of the window (which I'd thought was a bit redundant, since there normally is only 1):

p.s. I still think currencies belong in the currencies window rather than in key items. There may be some tokens that could be appropriate as key items, though.
