No materia slots on hyperconductive anima!?

Someone please explain to me why they did this? Why should I waste time and effort on a weapon with no materia slots when in two weeks I can get a hellfire/torrent/slipstream weapon that is just as good with 2 materia slots? Why are they making the relic weapon so useless? Are they going to change this or just leave the relic as a shitty reminder of how much time and effort you wasted on this garbage?

Apparnetly the 230 version's current secondary stats are increased as if you put in materia for those stats. I believe this also means whatever stat is the higher one actually goes past the usual cap? Not sure on that. As well 3.3 upgrade will have stats you can choose apparently, though we won't know the exact details till it comes out.

Makes me sad...the Ninja Anima already has inferior stats to the Lore weapon and it doesn't even get materia slots :-(

Hyperconductive Nothung gas already capped CRIT and DET, so unless you want to meld Parry lol, is not a significative lost, at least for DRK

The reason is likely because the relic is always evolving and upgrading that adding materia that would fall off each time seems counterintuitive to the design.

More relevantly though is that relic will be getting start customisation in 3.3 making materia melding redundant

That didn't seem to stop them from adding materia slots to the i230 lore item, and besides. That would help the materia economy a little more.

Also they could just make it so the materia's didn't fall off when upgrading, problem solved. Now add those slots I want!

I'm sorry but you are coming off as rather entitled in this post, and you failed to acknowledge the second half of my post, which is the main reason why this isn't a thing. The relic is a different method of progression in that the "materia slots" will be built into the weapon itself via the quest. This is why it has no materia slots, as in a few weeks they will become redundant.

The secondary stats on the relics are elevated.
Material was accounted for.
Posts like these are part of why the devs don't respect our opinions.

Its capped stats atm also it is said that the 240 coming in 2.3 will be customisable (or however that word might be spelled) so... any point in NOT getting 5 Aether Oil?
For me atm all the Pie on SCH relic is a pure troll but it will be a bit until I get A8S weapon I guess...

You get an extra 33 Det or 34 Crit/SS, vs the 24 you could get from putting two tier V materia on a 230 Lore weapon.

In the case of Ninja, we have:

Torrent Kris
Crit 114
Det 76
+ Materia

Hyperconductive Kannagi
Det 109
SS 114

Torrent Kris wins even without the Materia slots being used. Not every weapon suffers from this, but given the investment required to get the Anima Weapon, those stats are weak. The Materia may have been accounted for, but the Anima still remains inferior, while the superior weapon is able to allocate additional stats.

We will see if I can I'll get less pie on mine... but as said We'll see..

1. Because there will eventually be a stage in this relic dedicated to customising the secondaries via materia, this relic is following the rough same path as the old.

2. As said when you eventually upgrade it to the next stage that materia would be lost so whats the point?
"But the non-upgraded Lore wep has slots" not everyone has access to the ability to upgrade it and wont do for a while.
"Make it so you dont loose materia when upgrading" the reason why this happens was explained by SE a while back; when you upgrade your weapon the game essentially creates a new one from scratch, thus no data is carried over regarding materia slots. the chances of this changing are super slim as they would quote it as requiring alot of reworking to core parts of the game design or smth.
Still doesnt cover it? the relic has always been a special case not goverend by the same laws as other weapons in this game.


besides, relic is typically for catch up and/or alt classes, you wont be using relic if your in for serious progression of raids unless your way behind so, whats a few slots of materia when its not really needed

Well i have not seen next Relics but if stats remain pretty much the same for blm as example, it's just another weapon to sit with the retainer
I mean it could have maxed stats but if those stats are meh, well .....
Materia slots if ever added will come much later on in the Relics lifespan i would think
