Decreased Chocobo stamina?

Has anyone else noticed our Chocobos get tired really fast, now? I went from winning every race pre-patch to coming in last place every round. It seems like the ammount of stamina we have was either drastically reduced, or the amount of stamina burn was ramped up. We might need to alter our chocobo skills to offset this change.

My chocobo seems to get stuck in the "lathered" status all the time now, and slowing down won't make it go away either. I'm not sure if it's because he's relatively new, bred him about a week before this patch, but nothing I do seems to stop me from being constantly lathered and it's really annoying. Trying to bump his endurance as much as possible to see if that makes a difference.

Still winning races okay, but it's definitely harder than it was. Also the stamina bar is smaller now, wtf happened to making it easier to see? xD

Edit: Straight after I posted this I discovered the real problem with whatever adjustments they've made - if someone uses an item that reduces your stamina in any way, it's almost impossible to recover now, whereas you could before. Definitely didn't need changing.

I'm having the same issue. I started investing in stamina stats to off-set it.

Dunno, i'm winning more than before that's all i need

This is really harsh at the higher ratings. Makes it very frustrating and RNG dependant. Stamina just bleeds out so fast.
I think two good changes would be easing up on the speed that stamina is decreased, and also reducing the speed penalty you get when stamina is completely empty so it's not such a crawl to the finish if you run out early due to bad luck.

A few months ago they tweaked one of the major mechanics of chocobo races in that acceleration/deceleration is controlled by hitting your Movement Key Forward or Backwards/Left Analog Stick up or down, rather than the old method of holding/releasing a single button. If you haven't raced in a long time you're probably used to the old system, and that's why your Lathered status lasts forever.

I've played chocobo racing on and off since it came out, and only noticed this stamina issue after yesterday's patch, even with exactly the same chocobo. I also said in my post that slowing down using the S key does not remove the lathered status any faster than just letting go does, it just means you're going slower but with the same stamina loss. I'm starting to think it's bugged at this point. I had issues with this chocobo before because his stats needed boosting, but it was nowhere near this bad and I still felt like I had control over my stamina use. The whole thing has basically been reduced down to item nonsense now, because if you get trapped into a briar or someone uses Frenzy on you, you're screwed and there's nothing you can do about it except hope the now-even-more-inflated item pool blesses you with a stamina tablet or a potion.

I'm going to reiterate this because apparently people aren't understanding - this is NOT about the nerf to stamina that happened before. Either it's been nerfed again or something is bugged because there is a marked difference between how chocobos acted before and after Tuesday's patch.

My chocobo has performed the same before and after the patch. However, way back when there was a patch that nerfed a lot of stamina things, increased timers on heavy, etc. That was the patch that changed it up for a lot of people. Before that it was basically all head start + sprint 3 for levelling and the NPCs couldn't touch you. After the patch you need a different build to be consistent, and even then the NPCs are often pretty close.

You just need to change up the playstyle or use a different build. With a stamina based build you can eat a briar or a couple waters and still finish with stamina. I full sprint the entire course at r300 most of the time.

this patch, 2.55, was one year ago - and you didn't noticed that changes until 3.25? >.>

well I played chocobo racing a bit when it was new and then stopped, I used to have like 30% chance to win and now I have 30% chance to be in the last place, I cannot win any race even if I get hero drinks or stamina items, so AI is far stronger now, but today I got 1 human player and suddenly all AI was delevelled and I easily beat all of them, I still barely lost to the other player though.

i find the controls are still jerky when trying to move the chocobo different lanes lol
