Tending Gardens

Hey SE - how about you add a craftable irrigation system that gives us a one-click tend-the-whole-garden option.

Additional types of fertilizer would be nice, as well, that affect the chance of getting seeds, or better yields.

Every patch since gardening came out, it has had nothing but new seed combos that don't integrate the old ones. How about re-using 2.x stuff so it doesn't become complete inventory clogging vendor trash?

There are a few new uses for old seeds. Midland cabbage and prickly pineapple are highly useful for efficiently growing blood peppers, for example.
Agreed on the "tend everything" option. There's no good reason why anyone would ever want to tend only some of the plants (except for finished ones if they don't want to harvest right away, but "tend all" could just skip these.)

And another thing: why do I need to select Fertilize Plant, then select the fertilizer from my bag, then CONFIRM what I just did, when there is only one typ eof fertilizer in the whole freaking game?

Very huge quality of life update that would help gardeners :o

How about an NPC that does the work. Name him "Gardener" or what you will. You put him in your garden. Then tell him:

plot 1 - crop 1

tend plant at xx:xx time every day

fertilize plant every xx hours until fertilizer (that you put into your
garden shack - new furnishing to store seeds etc *hint hint*) is used
up

plot 1 - crop 2

select what you want for plant 2

plot 2 - crop 5

copy paste you get my drift

NPC will do what you told him until told otherwise. Planting and harvesting would be the duty of the player of course. Make it tough to obtain that NPC "furnishing" if you want, like "have to plant and harvest every seed there is at least once" or something crazy. Like an achievement reward for being a crazy gardener.

Probably won't happen. Would be nice though!

A gardener NPC who at least waters plants would be great. At least this way you don't go home to dead plants during extended absences from play.

Well, there's the shared housing feature now. Can get a trusted friend to help you out.

You don't need a shared housing person for that. Anyone (even a random stranger walking by) can tend the plants to stop them wilting. Only people with permissions can actually fertilise though (because it changes the grow time which could catch the owner out if it grew/wilted before they expected).

Adding someone to the shared housing certainly would make it easier for someone to actually get to your house to do it though!

I feel like adding a botanist retainer to the yard should have them water the plants for you or something. Watering in general is just very tedious, especially with 3 large plots.

I agree, but can't see SE wanting to do that as it's another reason for us to login each day. A "tend all" and "fertilise all" options would certainly make life a lot easier though...

Idk why would SE care if we logged on every day? As long as we pay our monthly fees they couldn't care less. Actually we would create less traffic for the servers if we paid for the month and don't log on lol. I totally vote for the "tend all fertilize all" option though, would be really useful.

You might be right, I don't know whether it's important to them to make the servers look busier or not (although if someone only logged in, did gardening and then logged straight back out, that wouldn't make much of a difference anyway). Awesome as it'd be, it'd probably make gardening just insanely easy if it was one-click and then come back in a week and get your produce because a retainer looked after it for you (not that it's exactly hard to click, just annoying). I don't know :D
