Because it wasn't part of the Q&A, just something they teased afaik. We also got very little information about it, so it's possible they're saving the translation for the next live letter.
They usually release a digest that talks about all the stuff that isn't in the Q&A, but it often takes them awhile to get it up.
Hello Zeno_McDohl,
Nice catch!
During the stream, Yoshida showed off an image (the one you pointed out) of a new dungeon-like content which is currently planned for release in Patch 3.3. It's being referred to internally as the Treasure Hunter dungeon.
Uncovering treasure maps, such as a timeworn dragonskin map, may sometimes reveal an entrance to the dungeon instead of the usual treasure chest. Once revealed, players have the option to challenge it or not, and by entering, players would need to clear out the monsters within this dungeon in order to unlock chests. The difficulty isn't set too high and they can be cleared without any practice. The image shown was just an example of the final room players can reach, which is filled with treasures. Players would need to do something to levers located in the rooms; however, the full details will be shrouded in mystery for now!
Oh I think they should add variety of more difficulty to this, also make it free company content focus as well. If these are treasure dungeons I would welcome random chance of a boss fight might start here to hope for this feature...
Please make this have some sort of random/branching aspect to it square!
I'm hoping it's at least as interactive or rewarding as WoW's version, back during Mists lol. That was interesting while it lasted, as it utilized jump mechanics and player attention/cleverness if you wanted to have a good chance at the best yield in the short time limit you had. Along with being able to output a decent amount of DPS, should you have made it to the boss at the end of the solo run. Even if not, you'd still walk away with something (like a nice amount of currency), as chests were abundant throughout the whole instance.
Very cool and unexpected feature, looking forward to seeing it.
If I recall right, you had to really haul ass and ignore pretty much everything if you wanted to get to the boss to kill it before the time limit was up. I think I only attempted that like once... and the boss wasn't really a push over at the time. Don't remember if I beat it though.
I hope our Chocobo's can join us in this Mysterious Dungeon
After seeing a more clear synopsis of this feature I am excited for it. I know it won't be game changing, but it's a nice addition to the treasure hunting feature.
This actually sounds good, please don't ruin it like you did with diadem.
Strangely enough, this kinda stuff is what I've been asking for but I'm REALLY hoping the dungeons are randomly generated and not the same thing over and over.
Yea I hate when you say don't worry it won't be to hard. Why can't it be hard. All this means is the treasure will be Garbo
Would be nice to see more stuff like that, that gets the community together. Also, we need more open world stuff to do, so it's a nice start.
Thanks for the info! I'd love it if this system had some procedural generation in it.
idk why but this reminds me of the dungeon game from ehirgeiz. I like the idea but I really hope they dont make it a super rare drop to get into the dungeon.
This looks like the vault in diablo 3 treasure goblin.
But if this will be easy I am not seeing any good gear come from it and will be another thing to go to oblivion. Only thing may save it is in case some mats dropped there are exclusive like diadem.
Tbh, they should spend their time in doing something more useful, we have a lot of casual play and barely endgame options every patch.
Still praying to them release the 8-man dungeons like 1.0 were and being endgame instead faceroll content. My hopes are in 4.0 :(
My only gripe is that you need gatherers to obtain maps (unless I am mistaken, please correct me if I am).
Otherwise, I am pretty excited for this content =D
You've literallly never done any of the savage raids, how can you say we have faceroll content when you haven't completed any of it?
People complain that SE is always doing the same thing yet when they want to put something new in some people will already be against it.
I'm not getting my hopes up.
My prediction is for face roll easy dungeon for yet MORE mounts and minions.
I guess one can hope tho ...
i swear some people are never happy.. gotta whinge about everything.. they scream for new content different from usual linear dungeons so we get treasure dungeons and people are salty cause its said not to be to difficult... ffs... go design your own game so we can all complain about that lol
Talk the dude that didn't clear any coil and any alexander and didn't do any primals... Plus I did gordias savage until a3s and started late because no static at start. I just didn't clear and I didn't clear because gordias sucked and not fun unlike midas.
And you weren't here in 1.0 to talk back to me without knowing what i meant by those 8-man dungeons so please, shut up.
Having more variety and more to do is better than just 1 raid each 6 months.
Who said I am against it? I just don't have high hopes for this. I was hyped for Diadem and what turned out? You know the answer, resources wasted. What I tried to say was to make a content that would last because what I see looking at this is being full in first month then will die like Diadem. Who do Diadem now is purely gatherers for mats and those that want free materia V. Beside that is not fun anymore because no one farm those S monsters anymore in those farms. So to them keep people going there will be the exclusivity of some mats that can obtained for sure.
I can be wrong too and being super fun but last year of SE everything failed after the initial hype. So much work of vermilion and almost no one does that too, list goes on sadly :\
And don't misunderstand me, I am not just after super hard content but want something that last and only thing last are raids.
I'd wager about as likely as getting a unhidden map. So uhh... probably around that 5% range. The game really needs to start getting out of the RNG mentality for almost everything pertaining to its side content, at least occasionally. True RNG, which is notorious for cluster effects, is seriously horrible with this game, given how the content surrounding it has other limiting factors in place with it. Example: Triple Triad with widespread Random rules on NPCs with cards that break the player restricted rules AND the RNG wall with winning a card. Maybe lay off the Random rule for a while.
i thought the same...
yay, awesome new content.... with an 18 hours lockout on the treasure maps and then low %-chance that such a dungeon will spawn? wow!
this is something nice for a mini patch like 3.35. but not a big one like 3.3. and: we are getting this instead of next diadem. and we are also getting this instead of a third ex-dungeon. so we are getting a mini dungeon wich we can not even enter when we want instead of a real dungeon...
it seems more and more the dev team can't handle this game's patch-policy anymore. has square stolen all people to work on FF15 / FF7 remake / Kingdom Hearts 3?
There's no lockout timer on doing the maps, therefore on finding Treasure Dungeons, just on gathering them.
You have at least two months until the patch that brings Treasure Dungeons. Gather a bunch of maps, buy the cheaper ones off the MB, distribute them to FC/FCmates/Retainers, and use a million of them when the feature goes live.
I know I plan to.
