This death=no exp thing is starting to bother me. Why punish those who die for their teams by not rewarding exp once the mob dies after me.

Brave =! Smart
The main goal is not to die.
I really hope there aren't MMOs out there that give you exp while you're dead, that would be one of the very true signs MMOs have degraded.
Indeed. /10char
This just got Flight of the Conchords going in my head.
Not that I particularly care but we don't get xp when dead anymore? When did that happen? 1.19a? I haven't noticed. We used to. I remember several times leveling up while dead. :D
Next time someone gets indignant at the suggestion that some people want to be rewarded for just about everything these days.. I'm linking them to this OP.
Now I'm just going to wait for someone to seriously argue, "Well what's wrong with that? These games are supposed to be fun! Not getting xp just because you're dead isn't fun! It's a pointless time sink intended to drag the game out longer!!"
You should be glad we are not losing EXP from dying. OMG The countless times when I just leveled up, my party would clap, cheer, and congratulate me, only to see that I drop to the ground fighting the next monster and have that big text popping up on my dead body "LEVEL DOWN" accompanied with a depressing sound efect.
Well, back on the topic, I must admit that I frowned when I first found out that the patch changed it so we don't get EXP while dead anymore. But I think this is quite good. It gives incentive for people to stay alive in EXP party! It also let you test and see how loyal your party mages (or team members) are, judging from whether they made effort to raise you immediately or not. :P
In a more serious mode, it's actually good that now people (including me) can't be spoiled by just laying there as a dead body and still get EXP from the kill. Have to struggle to come back to life one way or another. This is what it should be from the beginning. I wish SE have never spoiled me with all the EXP gaining in my death! Because it makes me miss those EXP nowadays. *sniff*
No, I agree that if you just lay dead and your team is fighting mobs (new ones) since your death, you shouldn't get exp from that. However if your close to killing a chain full of mobs, and you decide to keep the party alive in exchange for dying, you should get the exp especially if they die just a few seconds after you do.Quote:

Should have made myself more clear when starting the thread lol, but I was called into a meeting right before I finished posting.
and how can the game understand when you're enough "brave" to die for others ?
Ahh I see your point now.
It also meant that while people went afk and died and didn't raise they wouldnt get exp for just sitting there.
Anyway exp is easy enough to bloody get now, stop complaining. There'd be no point in dying at this rate if SE actually listened to some of these idiotic suggestions. Oh well why not just give us infinite HP so we don't die at all! how much fun would that be?!
>.>
We should get 2x EXP when we die to reward our bravery.
this is stupid idea lol
You are my new favorite person in all of Eorzea! Sorry if that hurts all my old friends (no I'm not)
As for the topic at hand- I could swing both ways. Sometimes when someone does something crazy I feel they should get exp just for dying like a hero. Other times they are just not paying attention or are afk in a fight and should not be rewarded nor satisfied for eating dirt :)
Easy fix.
Gladiators and Paladins still gain EXP even when dead.
:D
