Paying for them feels bad. I mean, it is a subscription based game and they have a lot of materials in the game. Having them paid seems like they do have all those different items on purpose so we basically have to pay for them if you want to craft etc.
So, SquareEnix, are we getting any inventory upgrades or more FREE retainers in the future? I don't mind paying with GIL for them, but paying with Dollars or Euros is not OK in my honest opinion.
Will we get more retainers at some point?

Don't count on it. They are making money with people who pay for extra ones each month, I don't see them giving us more for free and cutting their revenue down.

Honestly, I expect them to take away free retainers from us. They've already seen it's a great cash cow (I pay for 2 retainers myself), so might as well make even more money. Don't expect any more free retainers, ever.

Unless the majority just suddenly stopped paying for retainers (good luck on that happening) and demanded for more space, it won't happen. I think its safe to say a fair amount of people, especially crafters have at least 1. Those die hard crafters are probably at max.

Its only an extra euro a month and it keeps my inventory space so freed up, might do a full clear out again soon, I have so much glamour fodder that I honestly will never use, so best to cut down.
I doubt they will give away, I could sort of see one being made available as a veteran reward, but I highly doubt that would happen. -

It's not much really and the money goes to a good cause. Thats how I look at it because I love this game so much. We have bags to keep at least 1 completely separate set of gear for everything DoW/DoM/DoH/Dol. There's the armour if i'm spelling that right that holds seasonal, promotional, quest items.
There's more of a bonus too than just more inventory space. You get to marketboard more things and you can make several million gil quickly from retainer ventures. Selling minions, materials, and materia and with the 18 hour venture they bring back 3000 or 3500 gil of allagan pieces each time.
Get 1 more and if you don't need it later or the next month. When you cancel paying for that retainer it still keeps everything, gil, items, levels, gear. So you can long term storage stuff like that if it comes to it stuff a retainer full and the next month cancel it till you need that storage stuff again.

I can't find where SE said it, but many months ago they mentioned that "if everyone had more retainers the server would crash" which is either a load of BS or they have some piss poor servers for "as much as they make" :/ Which goes to show you, they don't seem to put much back into XIV (other issues show this too, lack of a full team, very little actually added and seems to be less each update etc)

People that have max retainers pay a lot for this game, lets take a look at the base rate (not looking at ones that a legacy pricing) it is $14.99 a month plus $2 for each extra retainer so you can 6 extra retainer on top of the two the game gives you so $14.99 + $12 (6x2) = $26.99 a month person spends, or if person pays 6 months at a time they spending (cause I don't think extra retainers fees get discounted.) $77.94 for sub and $72 on just retainers fee which = $149.94 just for 6 months. So SE is making a killing off retainers and the amount of people that I hear in game that have max retainers (mainly crafters and gatherers) I don't think SE going to change their business model, because SE is pretty much getting double the money from those players then the ones that don't have extra retainers.

Merle, by comparison most other games don't have you farming so ridiculously many tokens at the same time.
Take the relic at its current stage. You farm dailies (4 tokens) to buy other tokens (another 4) which you can also buy with tomestones (not in your inventory) and parts from Alexander (another 4 tokens). If you need armor at the same time from Alexander, that's another ... what is it, 6 different armor tokens?
Inventory fills up a LOT faster from just playing the game than in most other games. -

Then for higher level items require more of them - "This item requires 5 glamour prisms" if you really want to separate grades (which I don't feel is necessary).
2. Make Dye's unlockable and once you unlock it, you can dye to your hearts content - no need to carry around dyes.
3. Make Glamours unlockabl, and once you unlock it, you can glamour to your hearts content - no need to carry around old gear for glamour.
4. Increase the number of slots in Armory Chest. It makes gear progression very frustrating. I only have a few 60's and I am constantly running low on space. Can't imagine how it is for those with more 60's and crafting jobs.
5. Move all tokens to a wallet, similar to how we already have gil/tomestones/mgp/wolf marks etc.
6. Add a separate inventory similar to our current one for crystals/shards where all crafting items can be stored.
Keep in mind, we have 450 inventory spaces, but if you have 10 jobs - that's 40 slots each. In other MMO's if you have 10 classes, you have 10 classes x all of their inventory spaces.
TLDR Copy Guild Wars 2. Cannot say it enough. -
