So I just reached Sworn with the Vath Beast Tribe quests, and have come to absolutely adore the Vath Deftarm. During the quests the Deftarm has expressed his desire to explore and see the world beyond the Forelands borders, and even said numerous times his wish to explore with his mentor (us) on our adventures.
Can we get an option to allow the Deftarm to accompany us as a Companion, much like we do our Chocobo? It would make far more sense, as the Deftarm has already shown he has some combat skills (which we could help him level up and improve upon), and an actual personality rather than our horsebird which is simply a combat steed.
Also let use queue into dungeons with our Companions. For the love of god, why can't we do this yet.

AH i misunderstood, my bad. Yes that is very annoying (although i'm new so my queue times aren't that long), same with some quests/dutys, i don't know why the companion is just not disbanded when starting them.

Stupid question but why do people love Deftarm so much? I'm personally kinda neutral on the guy. His story was fun but he isn't any more prominant than any other NPC.

They should let us recruit 1 NPC (and be able to select which class we want) from each beast-tribe and that way we can form our own parties to do content with and then level them up to where they can turn the classes into jobs (save the vath mch) :3

Amalj'aa = pug/blm/arc/lnc
Ixali = gld/mrd/arc/thm

I'm in for the Chocobo and queuing, and ever better if we can have him as a partner inside easy 4-man dungeons, to replace those who can stay AFK waiting to be kicked, trolling, etc..
Perhaps when Grand Companies Mercenaries will be there in patch 6.0, they'll allow it yay! ^^
and for that NPC as companion.. I'd rather have the option to choose, and so far having Thancred improved version as DPS and Y'shtola as healer.

I was also really surprised by this... I went into the Vath tribes thinking they would all be pretty gross/deal a lot more with bug behaviors but from the first quest, I was like "Oh no, it's cute!" Even some of the daily quests (just got the one about chasing after the baby dragon) are adorable too. One thing I think helps make them more likable (to me at least) is their speech. A lot of the other races have the affected speech patterns that get irritating to read after a while. Even the Amal'jaa text is so peppered with "proud warrior race guy" talk that it's hard to find them that relateable, but other than the small <click><click> effect for the Vath, the Deftarm just kind of reads like a normal, over-eager kid who wants to become an adventurer. Reminds me of the Doman children from an earlier patch who wanted to become adventurers too. Cute. XD

He looks up to the WOL as a master and a companion instead of a tool. He actually stands up for himself when confronted with danger and conflict. Edit: Considering the Vaths already seem to like Gysahl greens, we don't even need a new item to be able to summon him. :D
Just achieve max rank and bam you get to choose which companion to summon upon every green use and play with it exactly like if it was a chocobo ( level his Tank/DPS/WHM skills or simply share levels).
And who knows we could even have the ability to unlock costumes or weapons / armors for him from various ways, pretty much like bardings.
