So...

First, you're taking away one of the bigger parts of what little OT utility Paladins have by putting the Strength debuff on an ability that requires being MT to be accessible.

Second, you're adding an arbitrary AoE component to Rage of Halone.

Nah.

Paladins need more AoE DPS, I'll admit, but this isn't the way to do it.

Why not? Its a unique way to do it and its different. It gives them some aoe aggression and doesn't really give them an AOE pump damage skill.

I do hope you realize the technological nightmare involved in coding an ability to proc on someone else's random proc. It also doesn't fit with the theme of the action, which is essentially using your shield to counter when it's been hit.

What Paladins are lacking is the ability to truly break ahead and do burst AoE. What you're suggesting is a small sustained AoE boost, with 50 potency/9sec max uptime per enemy. When you compare that to the potency a SMN, BLM, or MNK will be able to put out during that time, there's no way it would make up the difference. Paladins would still have to tab target and flash often to keep hate in AoE heavy groups.

Here is one for why not to change Rage of Halone like you are: While it may not matter to primarily magical attackers, that Str debuff is reliable BECAUSE its on RoH, and one RoH combo every 20 secs as OT isn't going to pull hate off of the MT, and naturally it'll pretty much always be up as MT. On Shield Swipe its too unreliable similar to DRK's Reprisal, and THAT one does a damage debuff instead of just strength.

Also if they were to change Shield Swipe that way, they probably would remove the Pacification effect.

This is now officially a thread about Peanut Butter Brownies!

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup (115g) salted butter1
• 8 ounces (228g) coarsely chopped quality semi-sweet chocolate2
• 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
• 1/4 cup (50g) packed light brown sugar
• 3 large Eggland's Best eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup + 2 Tablespoons (80g) all-purpose flour (measure this accurately)
• 2 Tablespoons (11g) unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt

PEANUT BUTTER FILLING

• 3/4 cup (185g) creamy peanut butter
• 1 cup (120g) confectioners' sugar
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 2 Tablespoons (30ml) milk
• 2 Tablespoons each chocolate chips and peanut butter chips

Directions:

1. Melt the butter and chopped chocolate in a medium saucepan on medium heat, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes. Or melt in a medium microwave safe bowl in 20 second increments, stirring after each, in the microwave. Remove from the heat, pour into a large mixing bowl, and allow to slightly cool for 10 minutes.

2. While the chocolate mixture is cooling, make the peanut butter filling. In a medium bowl using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the peanut butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and milk together on medium-high speed until combined. The mixture will be very thick - like a crumbly cookie dough. Set aside.

3. Adjust the oven rack to the lower third position and preheat oven to 350F degrees. Line the bottom and sides of a 9x9 inch square baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving an overhand on all sides. Set aside.

4. Whisk the granulated and brown sugars into the cooled chocolate/butter mixture. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking until smooth after each addition. Whisk in the vanilla. Gently fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.

5. Pour/spread half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan. Take large chunks of the peanut butter filling and flatten with your hands. Place flat pieces in an even layer on top of the brownie layer, as shown in the photo above. Pour/spread the remaining brownie batter on top. Top with the chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. Using the back of a spatula, gently press the chips into the brownie batter.

6. Bake for 35-36 minutes or until the brownies begin to pull away from the edges of the pan. (The brownies may slightly crack in the center - that's because air in between the peanut butter layers is trying to escape. That's normal!) A toothpick inserted in the center should come out with only a few moist crumbs when the brownies are done. All ovens are different, so keep an eye on them after 30 minutes and use the toothpick test to see when yours are finished.

7. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan set on a wire rack. Once cooled, lift the foil out of the pan using the overhang on the sides and cut into squares. For neat squares, I use a very sharp knife and wipe it clean with a paper towel after each cut.

8. Make ahead tip: Brownies stay fresh in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 week. You can freeze the brownies for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving and glazing.

Just make paladins a healer and we'll fix these paladin issues once and for all. Have a tank and a healer? Now that's micro managing.

Tired of those pesky White mages stealing your LB? Well fear no more! Paladins LB will cause shields AND rezzes for raids, why bring healers when paladins can heal and be the most supreme healer and tank? That's what we need more of Riot Blade can refill your mana in 1 swing it's the META ability that allows paladins to tank and heal without a healer.

Shield oath? What's that piece of crap I want Swor- I mean MAN OATH you know where you go and increase your tankiness and dmg and healing for the low cost of a GCD now that's a bang for your buck right there! This ability is taught at 35 so you know you got the best deal compared to the other tanks who get their "tank" stance we get "man" stance where paladins are unstoppable!

Cross class Cure immediately after hitting lvl 30 why you may ask? The healing threat caused by Cure overshadows Flash it's insane just how effective it is and your healers and DPS will praise you and bring you to their child's show and tell for science class you'll be praised that much!

Upon successfully clearing Seph EX solo (I mean it's not hard as a paladin especially with Cure) Yoshi-P will email directly and give you free Midas Savage gear and say to you upon reading the email you'll see the tag as "Pld working as intended" which you know it's not as plds OP as all hell.

TLDR; stop making these threads and get a clue about tanking I just posted this because it's almost as much of a wasted forum post as all yours put together.

Agree on giving pld more aoe damage but I don't think this is the solution. Honestly (and I know I've posted this a lot before but I'm going to say it again) I think pld needs an MP using damage aoe, a non-high threat one with a high potency on the gcd that costs a little bit more than flash. Pld's mp as a whole is (I believe) grossly underutilized.

I agree with all this. Rage of halone should cleave in front of the paladin, since its a huge blue wave of energy. Just like overpower does. I also think The str debuff should apply to all targets touched by the cleave.

Actually if they changed Goring blade to be a frontal cone attack with a reduction in DoT damage, I would be really happy.

I would rather keep rage of halone/shield swipe as they are with the one change above. It would make Goring blade useful on trash...

Why not have Royal Authority be an AoE/AoE DoT w/Enmity generation? The move already has you spinning when using it (Kind of like a jumping Link Spin Slash.)

Also I would like something done with Shield Swipe. There should be some action/thing that happens to reset the Cool Down of the Ability... We have Sheltron that is on a 30s Cool Down that lasts 10s guaranteed to block and Bulwark on a 180s Cool Down that lasts 15s increases block chance by 60%. Yet Shield Swipe is on a 30 Second Cool Down that can only be used after blocking... We have 25s of potential blocking, but after that first block it is 24s of just mildly reduced damage (20% I think) and only 1 Shield Swipe. Just seems like a wasted ability.

Maybe reset the ability on Parry or Dodge even... Something to get more utility out of Shield Swipe.

adjust eminity modifier to be same as warriors overpower.

Give RoH a short range line attack effect giving targets affected (other than the targeted mob) 50% of the damage inflicted and the strength debuff. RoH already looks like a short range line or narrow cone of effect anyway. Range should be limited to something just beyond normal melee range.

Give Shield Swipe a melee range 120 degree frontal arc with targets other than the targeted mob taking only 50% of the damage, but still getting the pacification debuff. A swiping action carries through an arc, the action is shield swipe, not shield slap, so let the swipe be a swipe.

The RoH modification could be linked via a trait to Sword Oath, and the Shield Swipe change tied to Shield Oath in the same manner. Make it a level 60 trait if you want to include it in HW, or make it a level 61 trait if you want to include it in the 4.X expansion.

Also, let's drop the recast time for SS from 15s to 10s, and proc it on a successful block or parry.

Ya'll are making some really complex and not so great solutions when you could just give flash damage.

Putting an AoE at the end of a 3 hit combo as a tank would be incredibly annoying to use effectively.

It depends on the range. If it had slightly higher range then the other abilities it wouldn't be that hard to use.

Imo pld just needs 2 small tweaks that are both incredibly simple to implement.

1. Enhanced Flash trait.. a simple Increase in enmity would be great.

2. Oath swaps. Shield Oath at 30 Sword at 40. Be more beneficial in lower level content. Especially between 30&40 where dps are getting the final combo hits.

I would perhaps give Flash a small aoe damage instead, 10 or 20, removing blind in the process since 1: blind has a short time, and 2: it has diminishing return.
This plus sheltron = blocks next attack. Now it only blocks physical, making it yet another def cooldown that is rather useless against magic enemies.

Your second point I am all for, WAR and I think DRK get their tank stances at lvl30 so why not PLD?

If you just use the cleave portion from OP's suggestion, it's not bad.
-Shield Swipe pacifies the main target; and cleaves on nearby targets.
No change for Rage of Halone.

Or they could just add a trait to flash to make it better... or greatly increase the damage of Circle of Scorn.

I also like the brownie idea.

So man I was reading this thread and was pretty ready to just write it off.
