the card can sell for MGP
But yes, I also don't know why they put the card into a chest. I find it better how it was before, where everyone had the chance to get the card.
While I agree you shouldn't be able to roll on cards you have, the treasure table is fine.
True itd be nice if players that alredy have the card in there deck cant roll on it, but you can sell cards you have duplicates of for mgp so in a way it fair game for any to roll on it. Even thou Its not that great of a pay out of mgp as cards basicly sell for nothing.
But its alot better to be able to try and roll on it than it just going stright into one randoms bag.
Yes, the fabled 4th chest that now only serves to further annoy the player-base, because now we get excited hoping for a minion/coffin lid to drop, only to find this trash. It's kind of insulting in a way?
At least back in 3.1 we could make a smidgen of MGP for our failed chances at hunting the chest by having the card randomly drop to us, but now we have to endure a lie and roll on a card which everyone use to had better odds of obtaining from just doing the dungeon to this.
I really don't get it?
Except with a random bagdrop, several people in the same run, even the same party, can get it. With a chest roll, one person can get it =/
Unless they for some reason had coded Void Ark card bagdrops differently than they did normal trial/dungeon card drops... Which I doubt.
Well I rolled on it without thinking as I thought it was a new card. I won it, but nope I already had it.
It won't let you roll if you already have one in your inventory, but it doesn't check what you already have unlocked in your deck.
If I were to guess why they implemented this: the card is now a guaranteed drop from the chest which means you're no longer rolling behind the scenes to have the card drop, but rather rolling against anyone else who wants it. In theory this would mean you have better odds of getting the card and it's less frustrating than going run after run without seeing it. The fact people with the card already unlocked can roll on it though completely screws it up.
I recall SE saying they were working on some means of checking what cards, mounts and minions players have unlocked when it comes to rolling need but I can't remember how long ago that was or if it's still on the cards (no pun intended).
I feel like this is an unnecessary change that will result in fewer people getting the card overall.
At the very least I can confirm that the card doesn't interfere with the minion drop as I saw both in the Void Ark run I did last night (rolled a 60 on the minion :( ).
Saw the 4th chest today for the first time ever in void. Was so excited.... Minion or lid......nope stupid trolling card.
Yep =) It was more like "there's a certain chance it'll drop to you", but everyone got that same chance. With chest, it's "there's a certain chance it'll be in this chest", and if that occurs, everyone has a chance to get that one card =/
TBH, when I first read about this, I thought they'd added the chance for it to drop in the chest. You know, in addition to having the chance for a bagdrop. Not that they'd changed the method completely =/
Have any other cards been changed to chest drops? I don't really like this change. I won the card last night, then later discovered that I already had the card. I assumed that it was a new card in 3.2 because it was in the chest and hadn't been before, hence why I rolled on it at all. Guess I'll just turn it in for MGP now and pass on it in the future.
Why is a meager 3* card something that 24 people have to fight over now? That's what I want to know. I don't understand why it was changed.
A simple solution is to do what they did with the mounts and make it so you can't roll if you have one. Obviously the 50mgp is a very small amount, but people are going to roll to get their 10th one if they have the option. It's just like how some of the mounts would vendor for 5k gil and people would take them to vendor (I was in groups with people who did this... it sucked).
I mean there really is no reason to let someone have more than one. I assume they will eventually make a change on this, but changes come out slowly for quality of life fixes, since so many can be made and they have to choose what to spend their time on.
Oh come off it. Everyone has equal rights to roll for something. Want the card guaranteed for you? Ask your mates to join your party and have them pass. This is no different from the complaints I seen from people that get upset whenever someone rolls on gear they "don't need", despite the fact that you can use gear in more than just wearing it.
Yeah, except that 50 MGP is almost nothing. It would be more akin to people rolling on gear they don't need and then turning around and selling it for the 350 gil you can get. They really should change it -- they likely assumed that people who already have the card just wouldn't roll except by mistake.
Also, they did in fact implement the system to check if you already poses a particular minion (and mount I think) which will then block you from rolling. I had forgotten whether or not I had one of those Manderville trial minions just a couple days ago and when I tried to roll I got an error that told me that you can't roll on minions you already poses. They just need to include cards in that system (unless they decide selling highly sought after cards for almost nothing is the way they want the system to work).
Everyone does have equal rights to roll on the card, whether it's only worth 50 MGP or not. This shouldn't be the issue here.
The bigger problem is that this was a change that ultimately benefits no one in the end. If there were issues with people actually obtaining the card before, then adding the card to the loot list just promotes the idea that the card is even rarer. It puts a distaste in everyone's mouth, dangling a carrot in front of everyone... which isn't entirely welcome when the card is nowhere near as effective as the Onion Knight's card.
The Echidna card is 50 MGP if I recall correctly. And you're assuming everyone actually plays TT and would have a chance at winning against that imperial.
(Though on that note, it's... one or two games of 'Out on a limb', so yeah.)
Still, it's free MGP obtained without actively hunting for it. Personally, I tend to Greed on it (just so it's not lost if for some reason everyone else passes on it), but meh. I'm mostly annoyed at their decision to make it "loot chest only" instead of "loot chest in addition to chance of bagdrop". I'm hoping it's just them trying new things out, and that they'll realize it's not a good idea and decide not to do it in later instances ^^;
Do people even play Triple Triad? It's widely discussed that most people that win the triple triad tournament just buy their wins. I got like 40/40 wins against a NPC and I wasn't even like remotely close to being on the board... meanwhile I see in party finder people offering to sell wins right about when a tournament ends....soo... And it's not like people are asking around for people to actually compete against.... I'd gladly play against other people to try to get wins that way but no one wants to play...well for "free" that is. They'd sell me wins but they aren't going to just play me normally when they could get money. I'm not going to cheat to win... It's just lame cause I actually think the game is fun.
So why do people need cards again? They can cheat easily without having a good deck so...
I'm not sure what's worse. This dumbass rule preventing actual Triple Triad players from getting a card, or the people who think a measly 50 MGP is worth taking something from another player who may have farmed endlessly to get it.
Just wonder why they just don't make Echidna's card loot in the inventory with the same drop rate as the 3 CT cards.
(And BTW, farming WoD, with like 80%-90% drop rate of CoD card which sell for 600GSP <3)
To me the main point of playing TT is to collect all of the cards.
I was lucky enough to get the Echidna card before it was added to the chest but I know I'd be upset if I was farming Void Ark for the card and people who already had it were rolling on it for a paltry amount of MGP.
I myself will only greed on things like that I already have just to prevent it from hitting the floor if everyone passes.
