Whoever thought it was a good idea to remove ranks after most of us grinded our butts to get ranked gear
=
This is the virtual equivalent of being kicked in the nutz. It's disgusting, and shows an alarming lack of integrity and foresight. The one good thing that I can still hold onto is that the scrubs who will benefit off of this will almost certainly never get the diamond exclusive gear.
TBH, I'd care more if all the new gear wasn't so ugly.
Enjoy the old gear, I guess. Glad you learned to sit and wait and be patient for 8 months instead of whining petulantly on the forums about it. ;)
I have a feeling that the diamond PvP gear will be unique to each season, and likely never obtainable again, and the next season will have a new diamond set to obtain.
On a side note, I think SE made this rank-less gear choice to allow all players (in particular, new ones that wish to dive into PvP) a variety of gear to choose from for Feast. Having a maxed out PvP Rank shouldn't be taken as a prestigious achievement anymore, the new goal will be Feast rankings, which will obviously be based on skill and not just a long grind. Sure, it might suck for veterans who took the time to climb to rank 50 to wear gear, but at least these players will have an AP advantage and hopefully more PvP experience over newer players, which will help with obtaining the unique diamond gear.
It's possible but highly doubtful. Given that SE has locked that gear behind a completely different ranking system that actually requires wins (as opposed to lengthy farm in which you could, technically, lose ever single match), it seems unlikely that SE would simply hand them out for free. They also implied during their announcement that new diamond league gear would be made available as time went on, and that the purpose of the gear was to make diamond league players readily identifiable by appearance. If that's the case, its seems counter-intuitive to just let anyone wear it.
Regardless, even if SE does eventually make it available for scrubs who don't actually play the game-mode, it most likely be after the gear has been replaced with something new and better. Hardcore PvP'ers will (hopefully) always have something that they can constantly strive for, a reward that keeps them competitive and actively aiming to be diamond rank.
Honestly guys all this hate about rank removal... seems strange to me cause it wont' impact on any mechanics and it is just a free gift to the ones that doesn't pvp so much.
It's just a vanity and you had the "exclusive" on it for more thant 3 month, you will enven get the super-exclusive gear with diamond rank for the one that really like to play a lot of pvp and has a good output...
I hated a lot more the 2.1 and so on when people just trading victories to get high rank or sometimes you had to face random people in pvp that wasn't interested at all on the match result :/
SE needs to use their brain, this issue could have been so easily obviously avoided. Just make pvp synced modes so new players can get into pvp and rank up and then have at least one unsynced BG and one unsynced Arena. I will never understand why they made EVERY SINGLE MODE synced. That is the dumbest decision they could have possibly thought up.
Honestly, SE needs to do a better job of balancing out its rewards in order to give incentive to players actually interested in pvp without drawing in an excess of those clearly just there for the glamour/tome grab.
Im worried this will be an issue with the feast too. We'll likely see a lot of players just looking for a carry and a shot at the fenrir pup minion or whatever... that and that "ranked" anything thus far in the game has been dominated by cheaters, win traders and exploiters. Suppose that's a different topic tho.
It's part of the problem. There really were no incentives for pvp-by which I mean seal rock-other than obtaining ranks for wolf mark gear. They never fully supported Frontlines the way they will support Feast.
So, on that note I definitely understand why Februs and others are upset by the removal of rank restrictions on gear.
Also I'm still rather disappointed that pvp balance will probably be centered around Feast-some changes for the health of Feast will probably end up hurting Frontlines. Case in point the nerf to tank dps. Probably needed for pve and feast, but 2k fell cleaves makes me want to cry.
I hope Feast will be fun, because zero dps, zero mobility, zero ways of snaring enemies in seal rock is mind numbing.
Well Frontlines is pretty much the Crystal Tower of PvP. Easier to balance for smaller groups, plus looking at the patch notes it feels like Tanks will have a valuable role in Feast as a Tank which I never thought could be pulled off properly. The fact that the game forces you to have equal number of healers makes me want to PvP again.
I'm still holding a candle that they merge servers for PvP. They said during one of their live letters that they were considering implementing a cross server Party Finder to make finding Raid and Ex Trial groups easier, so SE seems to acknowledge that limited populations and different demographics (since certain servers have a smaller fan base for certain content) is a problem for queues. They said they didn't want anyone to feel that they had to migrate to a different server just to play the content that they want to play.
Now, during this conversation, they never once mentioned PvP, but I'm really hoping that they come to this realization as things progress.
