So, we(Famfrit) ran into issue of handful wanting out of the novice network and the only way we found was to turn off channel or even have them kick. Is there another way we are not seeing or?

I would assume they could simply leave of their own accord?
The issue is don't know how to leave it, even had someone switch to alt and couldn't figure it out
Open that window, and try right clicking on yourself? If that doesn't work then I honestly don't know.Quote:
Viewing Novice Network Participants
Selecting the sprout icon next to the log window will display a list of all mentors and new adventurers currently participating in the Novice Network.
Either kick them, or use /beginnerstatusoff which I would imagine would remove them from the network.
Turn the leaf off removes them from the channel.
/boff is what other mentors told me they should use.
Turning the leaf off is pretty drastic though, especially since they can't turn it back on again!
It's worth noting that /bstatusoff is permanent.
The strange thing to me is that when I was "invited" I was automatically added. There was no chance to refuse the "invitation". Where I come from the word invitation comes with the connotation of being an option you can turn down if you want.
I'm not trying to complain about the new feature, you understand, I'm just laughing at SE's definition of an invitation.
I was actually on an alt I made for RP purposes and I got "invited". I had no idea you could turn off the newbie status until a friend of mine who just happened to be on the chat as a mentor mentioned it. I did so immediately because no reason not to for me, but it was kind of obnoxious. It even automatically changed the channel I was typing INTO as the novice network, as I was typing a message to a linkshell. :/ "You have been invited to" and "you have been forcibly placed into" are a bit different.
All you need to do to leave the chat is type "/nastatus off" in the chat and it should do the trick.
So this is an older topic, brought back from limbo. I'mma post anyway.
/nastatus off is now reversible with /nastatus on, which is an awesome change. Don't know if that would automatically place said sprout back into NN without needing to be invited again, though.
Secondly... I'm not sure I'm too keen on the last patch's "Mentors are encouraged to search for new adventurers through this new interface and invite them to the NN" part. Especially since there doesn't seem to be any way to decline such an invite. That makes it less of an invitation and more of a kidnapping, really.
It doesn't place them back in. They get the sprout back but need to be reinvited.
I tried the commands, and /nastatus off brings up the message "Unable to change New Adventurer status." I have tried turning off the leaf, but that doesn't remove me from the network. What I really hate is that the network is now my default chat that shows up every time I log in, and I have to change it back to "say." There is no way to leave the network. I don't mind having this available as an option, but I hate having it mandatory.
Luckily, I wasn't in any Linkshells during my time as a sprout. I quickly created a new tab in my chat window, called it "Madness Network" and left it to rot there.
Almost every time I peeked inside I saw mentors insulting each other for kicking people and other toxic behaviors. Definitely not worth to be part of this chat, especially if you found a FC that can help you out / answer your questions.
I wish SE wouldn't force it upon new players so much.
I just wish we could get to say NO to decline the invite when someone invites us. Or have some config to prevent being invited. Also, I really really hate that it forces Novice Network to become default chat channel.
I've only ever kicked one person from the channel, and it was because they were spamming the channel with rap lyrics that included the N word. The other mentors STILL took me to task, saying "there's no rules against it" but I really don't think that belongs in the newbie help channel.
Most of the time the chat on my server is pretty tame and mostly centered around answering questions, as it should be.
Novice network will always have trolls due to players being bored. Until SE changes and servers are no longer one big lobby with very little to do in between it will remain.
Yes you can do FATES, crafts, beast tribe etc but they have been exhausted to death.
Novice Network's issues stem from the fact it's treated like a server wide general chat, and is self-monitored by a group without established rules to follow.
So, someone spamming rap lyrics with R rated language may be questionable to one mentor, but another may be singing along. There really isn't a right or wrong in a case like that unless majority rules one way or another.
Unless SE makes mentors act to a certain set of rules and makes breaking them punishable (as we've requested time and again), the Madness Network will continue.
All u need to do to leave Novice betwork is click on Novice Network symbol below of your chat window and then click "LEAVE", thats all
I read through this thread. Not a single "Mentor" mentioned that you can simply hide the novice network itself.
Go to setting, look for the chat logs tab, Under "General" there is a box, and you can unclick it to hide novice network from your Chat box.
No need to remove Novice status.
