No new colour of Scrips with Patch 3.2

We have finally received information to the DOL/DOH jobs.

Is it possible that you'll increase the likelihood of obtaining tier IV and V materia for gatherers and crafters?

Yoshida: If we increase that, as an example, there are already crafters and gatherers who have tier V materia melded in the forbidden slots. Even though the numerical value of those increases was not currently required, there are already more than a few people like that. Although the value of materia V has skyrocketed, I think we will be increasing the amount little by little to ensure the relative superiority remains for the time being. The chance will increase somewhat, but it won't be extreme - it will increase gradually in patch 3.2 and later.

Will you be adding any new play elements for gathering and crafting classes?

Yoshida: We're considering it for the future. It's the same reason as before, that we really don't want to upset those who have been struggling to complete their tier V melded equipment.

But tier IV and tier V materia may be easier to come by for battle classes.

Yoshida: Tier IV materia will be obtained quite often. By the way, you'll also be able to obtain the tier V materia of your choice on a weekly basis. Even if you're playing at a relaxed pace, you should be able to meld tier V materia into all of your main equipment if you continue to play.

The type of materia obtained can be selected by the player?

Yoshida: That's right. However, if you're aiming for more than one job, you'll need to do other things to obtain them.

It seems red scrips will stay (what about the cap?) and will be used for a new token in the future.
I'm not sure about Tier V crafting materia. Not very happy if it stays as rare as it is right now...

well what i read, you will become one weekly lvl V materia may from 24 man raids like that i image and thats better than nothing.
but what i also see you will need make choice use the materia for gathering/ crafting or Battle class.

The tier V materia you will gain on weekly basis is for DoWDoM only, and not for DoHDoL

And i'm glad there is no new script yet...
I have a ton of favor to do... And adding one more would have been crazy !

Plus there is new recipe in 3.2
Tons of stuff to do !!!

Well, instead of adding a new colour, they are adding a new token. Which, if I think about it, is actually the same as a new colour. I mean, the red Scrips were immediately exchanged for tokens anyway. So perhaps, we just buy different tokens with the same red Scrips now. I'm definitely looking forward to next week.:)

oh well thats just means use 3x lvl V 2x what ever materia for materia transmutation and prey to RNG god it come craftsman materia out :rolleyes:

atm i have 50+ red tokens each so it will be really annoying if they would add some new tokens :p i hope they will higher the exchange rate for the ilvl 170 stuff items which you get from Favor gathering, so i could craft more ilvl 170 gear :rolleyes:

Yeah, I have a whole stack of red crafting tokens and also about 50 gathering tokens at the moment. Still, I don't think we will be able to buy anything new with them. That is why you should start with 500/500 red Scrips on 25th (which means you should have kept 50/500 by yesterday).

Who knows, maybe we can buy those "red" tokens with blue Scrips next week (I know, doesn't make much sense colour wise). Or the Exchange rate will be lowered; say 25 red Scrips for 1 token instead of 50.

I remember in the Live Letter there was mention of adding new items to the Red Scrip store. Maybe you'll be able to buy V materia at something like 300-400 red scrips a piece and have it be a 'weekly' purchase.

Since red Scrips will stay relevant, the cap will probably remain the same. But instead of buying Red Tokens for 50 red Scrips, we will now buy Red+1 Tokens for 50 red Scrips (and the former tokens will become cheaper).
OR the cap is raised to 1'000 and the new tokens will cost 100 red Scrips (the translation refers to lower rates and not a higher cap, though).

That wouldn't be too bad.:)

I'm irritated by the continuing stubbornness in making Tier V craft/gather materia more common. Right now, crafting and gathering at the highest levels is quite feasible without even a single Tier V meld. To justify the cost of melding a Tier V materia, you need to see enough of an improvement to your success rate to justify that expense.

Basically, if you have a an average of 95% HQ success rate now, and you're planning on spending two million gil on a Tier V Materia that brings your success rate up to 96%, you're going to have to craft an awful lot of things before that Tier V has paid for itself!

And this is to say nothing of the bowel-emptying horror of forbidden-melding Tier V's... I don't doubt that there are folks out there who have done it, but I DO doubt that they'll make enough profit to justify it before higher-level gear comes out that makes the gear holding the forbidden-melded Tier V's obsolete.

I'm a big fan of future-proofing equipment by melding it beyond current necessity - but the current state of Tier V rarity pretty much eliminates any possibility of overall profit even if you do wind up at the head of the pack once new content is released.

Live Letter also did mention that mats to make the new stuff will be easier to obtain which leads me to believe it won't be as codependent with gathering as all the 2* stuff has been. I'm also thinking maybe the base mats for new stuff will be Red Scrip purchased too which would prevent gear flooding since it's scrip gated. We'll find out soon enough.

Well, there will be new ilvl 180 Equipment for DOL/DOH:
- secondary Tools
- Belt
- Accessories

They can be exchanged against the current Red Rowena Tokens. I wonder if they are strong enough (especially CP wise).
Exchange rate will still be 50 Scrips for 1 Token.

I don't see anything new that can be exchanged directly against Red Scrips. Or will we have to use our Red Scrips to buy the new master books? Hm...

The Specialist crystals will grant a bonus to Craftsmanship and Control. I wonder how high it will be.

And the new crafted DOW/DOM gear is ilvl 220. Mats seem to be farmable through gathering in new spots.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention: Purified Coke/Raziqcoat/etc. will now be found in the old 3.0 and 3.1 expert dungeons. This should finally increase the supply by a non-marginal amount.

I will stand by the fact that the red script stuff is weaker than HQ one

I think that master book IV will be red script buyable
But something like...

I'm assuming the crafted 220 will still be gated somehow. Being fully available through the new nodes seems like a stretch. I think it'll use materials from the new nodes and still utilize some of the existing 2* stuff. I noticed that there is a 'Griffin Leather Strap' item now, which is probably made from Griffin Leather and maybe used in the new 220 stuff. Also, with purified coke and all that stuff dropping in the 3.0/3.1 dungeons now, it makes me believe that we're still going to be using all of that pretty regularly. ALLLSO, no mention of new Favors so gatherers still need something to keep them viable via scrip system so yeah I still think we're gonna need the current 2* mats.

The materia story with crafters is just a complete sh#tstorm of crappy implementation. Honestly saying X people allready have teir V melded to forbidden slots, is absolutely retarded. I for one couldn't give two poops about the absolutely insane people who live inside a closet and play 24/7 on the japanese servers. These are NOT good examples of justifying bad game design.

There have not been enough tier v Materia sold on my server for someone to have stuck one into an overmeld slot, not unless that person got really lucky and succeeded on the first try.

I burned through about 700 TIV materia shortly after HW came out, and received ZERO tier V from the transmutation. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a new way besides spiritbonding 170 accessories or playing the lottery with 5 junk tier V.

the patch notes indicate new pots. Max-Pot of VIT/DEX/MIND/STR/INT. if it follows the current trend of Max-Potion/Ether. then the mats will be from diadem... yields 2 per synth. rejoice!

If by "old ones" you mean the i170 crafted ones, and have already melded them.
The offhands and accessories that are being added are the i180, unmeldable equivalents of the currently craftable i170 versions.
