Just a bit of wondering/griping

Since 2.0 launched there are several things that have been added and promised that have since seemed forgotten and i'm starting to wonder when if ever it'll come.

First off was two of the major promises they made with 2.0 that is still unfulfilled: 3rd party UI mods and gear complexity, for the most part im content with 14's UI but having some of the features that WoW players made with UI mods. Additionally i would like to be able to parse my own dps, i know alot of people are against DPS calculators, tends to promote elitist a-holes, but i mostly just want to push my own dps to the max.

Most of my other issues is the lack of continuation of the hunting logs for bonus exp, and how the 3 new jobs don't have a hunting log at all, dropping guild heists altogether, and that they still haven't expanded on grand company rankings.

As far as gear complexity goes, I don't recall that they ever promised it—only that it's something they might think about later down the line. For the rest...yeah, it's hard to say. I'm really surprised we don't have the add-on creation tools yet.

As Alahra said, I'm pretty sure the gear complexity thing was a "maybe later" kind of thing, add-ons would be nice for the PC population, but I can understand them holding back with it until they can figure out a way to make it available to the console crowd too, otherwise people would complain about an "uneven playing field" (that being said, as a console player, I don't care if I ever get access to them or not, personally). I do, however, agree that the game needs an option to toggle for a personal parser, where it doesn't show anyone else's dps, only your own. I think that'd be a fair middle ground for the ones that want it and the ones that don't, at least.


I too was disappointed about the lack of hunting log, though, it feels really incomplete imo not having anything for those new jobs, or a 51-60 entry for the pre-existing jobs.

This is pretty easily explained away with lore. During 3.0 series we haven't been operating through our GC at all. So giving us additional GC rank wouldn't make sense yet. As we move away from the dragonsong war and (presumably) more towards the liberation of Ala Mhigo we'll see more GC involvement and probably a new rank.

As for the hunting log I just explain it away as it being issued too classes, and HW jobs do not have them. If they did add them it'd be near pointless to even bother with the first few ranks, starting at L30, so it'd feel choppy and half-arsed at any rate.

Regardless of the story line with the new expansion i expected new ranks for the grand companies to be released. more specifically because grand company gear often offers filler pieces which is nice if you are too cheap (like me) and try and rely on dungeon drops (which is a bad idea >.<)

in the end i do somewhat agree that GC rank should probably be tied to the story line however it just feels a bit lacking that HW came out and there seems no plan current to bring out new GC ranks as it stands.

and while i agree starting a class at level 30 and either not having a 1-30 or having a 1-30 hunting log would be be awkward for the new "classes" but i don't know the lack of support of conventions that made 2.0 great and seem all but forgotten since 3.0 i find a bit annoying. Then again that tends to be the nature MMO's that older systems tend to go to the wayside however to me the hunting logs are sort of a core mechanic for leveling new classes.

The first time exp bonus from guild heists too were nice however i can understand if they want to discontinue that line of quest especially since they ended at 40 originally and seemed more geared towards teaching party mechanics, given the hq synced gear that seems less viable now as you can just steam roll them all, that and the hall of beginners sounds like its intended to take over the position that guild heist seemed to originally fill so i can understand that going by the wayside.

They didn't promise. During the liveblog at E3 2014, this is what Yoshi-P had to say about it:

Q. Will we ever see a return of unique stats and enhancements for Weapons and Armour like in 1.0 (such as Shield Bash +10 etc)?
Yoshi-P: One of the worries about doing that is everyone will want a specific weapon for a specific thing, which then means we have to design future content around the assumption that everyone will have that weapon and it reduces choice for players. However, we realize people want to see this added, so it is something we may consider. Change is nice, but we want to maintain balance - so we need to find a happy medium.

To my knowledge, that's been the only time he's addressed the issue since launch.

I believe part of GC ranks in the future will be us having our own soilders to lead into battle, and thus making the AI pretty good is why we haven't gotten it yet...unfortunately I don't have a link for this (it was something I remember from around the time 3.1 was coming/just arrived that I remember seeing it though.)

I believe the hunting logs were for the class, not the job right?

They want to wait for new GC ranks until they have GC related content.
So that ranking up will be more than just gather GC seals and buy the rank.

I would just be happy with an add on like atlas loot. Let me see and try on all available attainable gear and see where it comes from. Maybe more people would be queueing for those old raids if they could see how nice some of that gear looks. The only way now is to see someone with that gear, inspect them, and then try it on. Then you either have to ask where it comes from or look it up.
