Company Seal acquisition rate

Hi,

After depleting a good chunk of my Grand Company seals I have been working to boost the level that I have. Currently the cap is set to 10,000, but you can only acquire 30 at a time [now that foundation event is done] per GC levequest.

I need about 7000 seals, after already spending a good chunk of time acquiring some so: 15min[7000gc/30gc]
60min

Comes out to about 60 hours.

This seems to go against the "guildleve centric" gameplay, and it also seems to be an anti-casual mechanic, when it has constantly been stated that leves are intended to be a casual mechanic.

It is true that I don't necessarily need to get to 10,000 points, but if the cost of an item of 2500 points, the getting that item means 20 hours of playing in the exact same spot, doing the exact same levequests, and killing the exact same monsters over and over. It is neither a fun game mechanic for a hardcore player, nor for a casual player.

I'd urge the development team to reconsider this masochistic and repetitive method of player advancement, and adjusting the seal rate so players who partake in these Grand Company leves don't find themselves hating themselves as much as hating the leves. Thank you.

I definitely agree that the current seal acquisition rate is wayyyyy too low.

Devs need to reprice some of the items available, if they're going to make seals cheaper; for example, Dark matters...

not to mention that u are limited by how many leve slots u have left...it'll take even longer

The current rate of seal acquisition is absolutely terrible, yes. Admittedly there's not much to buy -with- the seals right now, but I'd like a full set of Lominsan patriotic garb, for example, but to get that would take... far more time than I'm remotely willing to take. Really hope they buff this soon.

considering that i have 9k marks, and can still get more from my into the dark quest...i cant agree with how hard it is to get them

why would I when crafted gear is better then all of it right now

Going to throw in my support for upping the number of seals rewarded, or a steep reduction in item costs.

I recognize that not all the rewards for seals should be freebies, and that some exclusively high priced items are acceptable, but I don't want to continue doing company leves or caravans over and over and over. Imagine what this would do to a new player, who not only has to do guild leves to level, but also company leves to get enough to rank up in the company.

Leves should probably reward close to 150 seals, and a run through Darkhold should reward roughly 200-300. Putting seal rewards on Darkhold would also encourage reruns for people who need it.

yeah, I got 60 notes from a company leve and I'm like "this is all i get?" and then I notice that 60 was double the normal amount.

should be at least 100 base

They have said already: next rank in gc = higher seal rate. Meaning that we will get more seals per caravan and leve etc after the next titles are coming.

The quests give a nice amount, but those are one time only. There should be a way that you can get some proper amount of seals that you can repeat.

I am a pretty much hardcore minded player, but 30 seals is really crazy when some nice items are 1000 seals. Especially the lower level items (around 25) are impossible to get since by the time you have enough seals you will already be too high of a level to use them.

Maybe they meant it to be like this, but I doubt it.

Lower the price of the items or higher the rewards.

you read it wrong

they said we can store more seals, not that we get more per event

they said we can store more AND that higher officers attain more seals per leve etc.

(after having done the gc quests 3 times, i kinda remember it.)

Perhaps they could give you the option to sell mob drops to company NPCs for seals instead of gil?

I'm really feeling this one at the moment. I want my chocobo, and I can't get one unless I spend more free time than I currently have on the low reward GC quests, or get a party together to complete Darkhold. Since 1.19, killing the ogre seems to be significantly more difficult, and I've not been able to complete it, despite partying with some great players.

my poor cousin didn't know you get your personal chocobo from GC seals (putting the licence at the bottom of the materials page seems to be hiding it to me) so she spent all her seals from the one of quests. now it will take her forever to get 3000 seals from leve's and caravans. wonder if this has happened much?

Yes I think a signet would work pretty well here.

They plan to diversify the ways to acquire seals in the future ( more GC quests and content), so I'm not sure upping the seal reward for company leves would be a good idea; it could have the opposite effect that OP wishes to avoid, i-e it would centralize seals acquisition toward leve completion.

Yup, I would welcome more ways to acquire seals, but I don't think they should increase the amount gained with current content.

That said... In my mind, FFXI started so suffer near the end from having a different currency for each expansion. FFXIV is starting to head in the same direction.

I wouldn't mind so long as there was some currency exchange rate. But beyond a certain point, it starts feeling more like you're winning tickets in an arcade to trade for a prize rather than "paying" for something. In the real world, the accepted currency is used for virtually all transactions, and has been since the invention of money. We aren't a barter society, and neither is Eorzea.

As long as there's only gil, guild marks, and company seals, there's an acceptable number of currency types. But I worry we'll end up with 10+ like XI... (gil, conquest points, imperial standing, allied notes, cruor, tabs, ballista points, guild points, zeni, plus a few tradable ones like imperial coins, ancient currency, and beastcoins. not sure whether to count beast seals)

By themselves, more currency types aren't really a problem. And so far in XIV, there aren't any areas where you might end up SOL if you run out of currency the way you might have in XI (like how if you aren't earning allied notes in XI by doing the related content, you might not be able to rent a chocobo even though you're filthy rich). But it makes me uneasy to see the same thing creeping in.

Just because there's new content doesn't mean a new currency is necessary. And if you're going to keep adding currencies, then please, make them all tradable between players!
