Thoughts for the Next diadem. Feedback thread.
Ok so it seems like the next Diadem, "Diadem 2" is going to have come changes to it.
What would you like to see or what do you want Diadem 2 to be like?
For me I would.
1. Remove flying.
Yes! I said it! Remove flying please. If it's supposed to be a open world dungeon then let us not use mounts then and explore on foot. Give us the feeling of exploration and adventure by discovering new lands caves etc. Once I unlocked flying for my 1st run I just flew around the map to see it all.
2. Discover Caves! Forests etc.
What I mean by this is certain part of the Island go linear with the odd 1 or 2 split paths that you can explore. So For example lets say you find a cave and at the end of the Cave, (end point could be random or just straight up A to B) could be a gold Treasure chest but you have to fight even harder mobs in the cave to get there safely.
So the idea of this one is where the path turns into a dungeon within a dungeon so like the caves, woodlands, mountains etc.
3. HNM less RNG conidtions.
Ok so in Diadem, you defeat mobs, adds to your NM counter and once you reach a certain amount there is a chance of a IV,V or * NM to appear. It would be nice to unlock a specific NM we need to defeat 20 Spiders or something then go to a Spider cave where a gold Treasure is but also a HNM Spider Lord is inside as well but to gain accesses to the Cave you need to clear 2 other Caves which 1st etc or if you want to spawn a Undead Spider Lord kill 10 Spiders and 15 Skeletons. You get the idea.
4. Mobs don't have a respawn timer.
To encourage moving from Island to Island in order for mobs to re spawn on Island A, all of Island B and half of Island C monsters need to be killed.
For me this is what I wouldn't mind, whats your thoughts?
Some Ideas (a trail of thought and a Wall of text)
Well first off I would say A couple preset maps would be a good idea. But make it randomize to some extent. Players start off with a blank map each time they enter form a randomized entry point into a secluded part of the map, sectioned off from other parts of the map, from there I have two ideas:
- Don't add an Mapping the Realm achievement for this map. I have a selfish reason for that but such an achievement would be impossible with the above in mind, especialy the map reset)
- Alternatively, DO add achievements for mapping out the place, or rather, the sections of the place that players are currently in. With its own rewards such as a title ("Cartographer"), some Galmour pieces and a Mount
From there I also agree with locking down flight for reasons state above.
The actual Exploration. First off there will be 8 Maps, each aspected to one of the elements, with that map's ground and some of its mobs as well as the sky Below Colored accordingly.
- Red (Fire),
- Orange (Earth),
- Light/Pure Astral (Yellow),
- Green (Wind, this one already exists in game),
- Cyan (Ice),
- Blue (Water),
- Purple (Lightning)
- and Darkness/Pure Umbral (Magenta).
In these maps players will have to similar objectives to Regular Diadem, as well as some New more dynamic ones based on the map, mostly involving debuffs. These will be administered via a Guildleve like system rather than a duty like system, allowing for more dynamic goals.
The randomized gear will be the rewards from these "Leves" rather than from regular mobs (Key word Regular. Higher ranked mobs will still give chests if they are spawned). Plus an additional chest which will give everyone one piece of gear each if they "Complete" the map. The quests will be similar to leves in other aspects, which will include pacifying feral creatures or dispelling glamours but some of these quests will have other objectives as well. In fact some DoW/M quests cannot be completes without a DoL for key items do not always drop from mobs, but must be gathered instead.
To keep everything organized, these new leves will be shared by players and assessable via a new window called "Exploration Quests", all of which will be are to the journal if completes regardless of whether or not you personality did the quest or not.
Spawning the Higher Ranked Mobs will also have its conditions changed. With some triggers being the same key items, emotes or other "unusual" objectives that the Leves needs. But there will always be two consistent conditions, you much map out your section an you mush clear a certain amount of leves total
The Lore for this is simple, your FC has been noticed by Rowena after discovering new locations and she gives the opportunity for them to become freelancers working as both adventurers (as per usual) and cartographers, the map reset being you giving the map to the clients who will also supply the leves., a bit more than the first incarnation had in terms of lore.
The Leve rewards will include ad the default a piece of randomized gear as well as options of the following:
- Dye: Primarily new hues and the occasional General-Purpose dye
- Glamour Prisms
- Crystal Shards, Crystals (yes I know, redundant) and Clusters: But their aspect is based on the map, with only the Light and darkness Maps having more than one type
- Spoils or Another randomized Gear: this one is very Rare
- Catch Up Patches will also a as options upgrade mats for whatever the current capped tome armor, the patches afterwards will add the upgrade token for weapons as well
- Tier V Materia
- Occasional Tokens such as the Proto Ultima Exoplating: These will be ependent ont the weather
- And finally Orchestration Rolls for 1.0 music: Which will also be available in the Spoils shop
- Allagan Tomestones of <insert uncapped type here>: also a guaranteed reward
However the quests themselves are tiered and tied to a new type of rank. The Voyager Rank. By completing an turning in maps an clearing these leves you get wealthier clients, which will allow more challenging and rewarding quests.
Finally there will be buffs tie to how many leves you do, which allow for increase gathering, attractions of toughener enemies and a random chest to spawn, getting more powerful as you do, more leves
So yeah, this is basically a rehashing of both Diadem, Leves AND Beast Tribe Dailies (minus the "Daily" part) but I think it can make a more interesting experience than Diadem. On the other hand a lot of these ideas are more grindly (thought the leves will always for you to go to out of your way locations for your objectives)
