Thank you for Void Ark – Dev appreciation

I love the lore, design, fights, and just find Void Ark to be a lot of fun. Thank you devs! I love how we get two pieces of loot per boss. I love the cut scenes with Diablos. I know it’s a “catch up patch” ( which I think catch up should be with replaced horizontal progression) , but glad you guys didn’t skip on the quality of content with this 24 man raid. Could we get a 24 man roulette, please?
Anyways , thanks for Void Ark, keep up the great work and look forward to where we will be going to next.

I like the void ark well enough. I appreciate that it's lore is dealing with a civilization other than the Allagan Empire (I'm tired of hearing about those guys!), but the gear and boss design I felt was a step back from The World of Darkness. Cuchulainn being the exception. Still, I'm interested to see where the story goes from here.

Always nice to see an appreciation thread. I like the 24-man series too although I must say its difficulty gets toned down every new dungeon so it seems which in my opinion makes me sad. That's the mindset when maming this content: it has to be casual friendly and it seems like that equates to 1st time in 1st clear unfortunately..

Just out of curiosity, how do you find 25-mans horizontal progressive especially when the timing of implementation is questionable?

im saying that 24-mans should be horizontally progressive going forward not just catch up.

well i looked at ppl's comments about how easy Void ARk was.........I felt it was easier as a Tank, as a DPS not so much cuz more dps checks imo. Wasn't as easy as i thought cuz as we all know ppl through Df don't always like to play as a group .

Void ark was really good, I like the fact that the 24 mans are going to take place in diff areas this time instead of all crystal tower. I wish the mechanics were a lil more difficult though. Its basically a 24 man dungeon at this point.

What's funny is when entire alliances get wrecked by Cuchulainn's bile then proceed to blame the tank. You know, for losing aggro on a random targeted ability.

I don't think they need to be more difficult, but I think the word you are looking for is "interesting", remember how cool fighting Cerberus was? or needing to move around and interact with things as part of the fight? (behemoth, archon, scylla etc.) I don't think that difficulty is a problem, but some of the fights (especially then 2nd boss of VA) are a little disappointing when we look at how cool they could have been. I think the devs need to step this up, especially as this round of raids doesnt have the FFIII nostalgia and hype.

Having said that, this is an appreciation thread, and that is a critique, not a critisism, I still like Void Ark, especially the lore, and can't wait for more.

Agreed! Void Ark is a hell of a lot of fun, in my opinion.

Also, props to them on making fights that are coordination checks rather than DPS checks. Chuchulainn is an excellent example of a hard fight that doesn't need a DPS check to be challenging. Very interesting and complex mechanics, and I really hope that A5-8 have more on those lines (and less of "you died for not killing it fast enough").

I will admit that having a "Savage" mode that removes some of the hand-holding mechanics would be nice (like auto-hate on tanks in given circumstances, moving parties around, etc.), but I can see why they wouldn't have time for it.

I also agree about the 24M roulette. Would very much like to see that, to get some more traffic through the 2.x instances as well.

for everyone saying its too easy or not interesting- please Remember this is the 1st 24-man in the trilogy in 3.0. Remember all how easy LAB was............ so im sure they will deliver..its only going to get better

Void Ark is easily my favorite of the 24-man raids since the original CT (which is far and away still my favorite, though).

But the Labyrinth of the Ancients was the hardest of the three relative to when they first came out.

Void Ark is probably my second-favorite thing to come out of this patch (the first being MSQ-related). The atmosphere, the music, the art...I get serious Rapture vibes from the whole place, as it was supposed to be a place of salvation, but ended up going horribly wrong. Places like Azys Lla or the Crystal Tower feel like remnants of an ancient, highly advanced civilization. The Void Ark feels like a remnant from a genuine apocalypse. Which is good because all the Allegan places, while impressive, don't really give off the vibe that the civilization they belonged to went through a Calamity of their own.

Chuchulainn is an awesome fight, pretty much requiring the DPS to focus-target the boss and keep on their toes. 99% of the time when I'm dropped into an in-progress VA as a DPS, its because the DPS that left/were kicked were incompetent. That said, it leaves just enough room for error that it still passes muster as 'casual.' Kinda. You certainly can't argue that its a faceroll, which is something I really appreciate. Hopefully we get more fights like that in the future.

As a fan of H. R. Giger, Void Ark speaks to me on an aesthetic level. Plus I found the fights fun, and the music a superb combination of enchanting, adventurous, and eerie.

I dont like Void Ark, i usually liked to run raids multiple times but this is not the case, i just pray every week to get my loot and never get in there again.

The boss fights are too easy, i dont like the "everything is a damn coffin" design, the trash fights are nothing compared to the old raids.

Agreed! I do believe they were still figuring out how to implement 24 mans back at LotA(I'm glad they dropped 3 tanks, that was overkill even for LotA's mechanics at i70) but the fights were interesting, I just hope that the ARK trilogy leans more towards diverse and interesting mechanics like the CT trilogy (Cerburus and Iron Giant come to mind) and steer away from mindless 24 player zergs where mechanics can be ignored due to inflated ilvl, sorta "push through the pain" to clear content xD.

I agree, I do like the design/aesthetics of the Void Ark. I am happy that we're not dealing with the Allagans this time around and we're finally learning more about the War of Magi.

While cliche, I do find myself liking Leofard and his crew .... a shame his HQ isn't a zone we can't explore :(

Here's hoping they'll make better-looking gear design rather than the what we had. Echidna is pretty easy for a last boss fight; Chucalain was/is more difficult than her

I actually felt some sympathy towards the voidsent, too. They were all bound in coffins and used a fuel for the Void Ark.

The unfinished Dune Production Artwork is inspirational, and I would be surprised if Void Ark was not a tip of the hat to Giger

maybe when it was initially released but most ppl find 2nd and 3rd........personally feel the 2nd was the hardest

Probably my favourite 24 man raid so far, yeah it gets old after the 20th time, but I still enjoy my weekly excursion into Void Ark, helps that the music is lavish as fuck.

Hope the next raid delivers just as well as this one.

Best thing in retrospect, far far less (if any) trolls in Void Ark than compared to LotA :X

I like the whole atmosphere of Void Ark and the designs of the whole interior. The lore behind it is pretty interesting as well.

If there's anything wrong with Void Ark... it's the Drop Rate for the Coffin Lid and Minion (as well as the Triple Triad card for Echidna)... but apart from that, I admit, I am interested in what happens next and what/where the next location is going to be.

I have to give props to void ark simply because every time i go in there and i reach Cuchulainn I can't help but be completely and utterly disgusted. If I happen to be in TS during that fight, I can't help but say every time how it is my most hated boss BY FAR in this entire game, not only because he is repulsive beyond belief, but he can be a total douchebag to heal if people aren't paying attention and decide to get 5 stacks of vomit nastiness all over them

He's the best Boss there!
His fight is the only fight that is not a snoozefest.

It's a love hate relationship, I hate him for all the reasons above yet... I love how much I hate him. :P

i prefer 24 man dungeons over 4 and 8 man 1s.. more fun hope in the future we have alot more

Labyrinth is the hardest 24 man raid, I stlll remember countless vote abandons after multiple wipes against king behemoth, it just got a lot easier since it's item level 50 dungeon.

Lol Syrcus Tower was the easiest one from me. LotA was the most difficult, you could even wipe on trash like atomos and the trash before behemoth, and wipe in behemoth or in bone dragon. And don't forget about the first boss of WoD Angra Manyu, by itself was more difficult than all Void Ark (Echidna is just a dumbed down version of Angra Manyu).

I enjoy Void Ark, even if the 3rd boss gets me somewhat sick over the rather realistic looking vomit. I do wonder where the second and third installments will take place.

I really love Echidna's BGM. Always hyped up when this BGM plays.
