OK maybe a bit to early for this but what would u like to see from SCH in 4.0
Personally would like to see a another fairy/pixie a dps fairy
Some skill to refresh or extend DoTs;
A cooldown or trait that allows the SCH to save a stack when using a healing skill like Lustrate or Indomitability;
A cooldown that converts already applied shields into healing, for those annoying situations when your shields don't register in time to prevent damage from the blasts.
I want a series of class quests that aren't so terrible that even my in-game character sighs forlornly when they're given.
Beyond that I wouldn't mind something more interesting for the DPS rotation. Let's face it, SCH DPS is stupidly simple. Alternatively new things to do with the fairy--it's what makes the class unique, so why not embrace it?
.../rimshot
True we have both a fairy healer and a fairy supporter would be nice to be able to switch them like the Much turrets for example salene is able to support allies with her skills why not give her a skill we're we can have her debuffs enemy's same with EOS instead of her being a str8 healer have her dps
A fourth aetherflow stack.
More fairy interaction! (MAYBE another fairy)
Eos- Fey Memento - This AOE buff would have a cast time similar to Whispering Dawn. For 10 seconds, all healing spells will form a shield, with a Galvanize-like buff that would not overwrite SCH/Astro buffs if the heal spell shield created is smaller. Lustrate nor Benediction would galvanize from this skill, because they are abilities and not spells. It would work well with Cure III and Emergency Tactics Succor. It would also turn Physick into a lower costing and more effective, adloquiem. Its range would be 15yalms. Suggested cool down: 1:00 to 1:20
Selene - Fey Explosion - This AOE would also have a cast time similar to Whispering Dawn. Fey Explosion would be a 150-250 potency AOE with damage based on the SCH's raw Mind stat, meaning that buffs such as Cleric Stance or a Mind Potion would be ignored. The Aoe would also cause Blind for 10 seconds, further making Selene a great asset to Warriors/Dark Knights in particular. Its range would be 15yalms. Suggested cool down: 1:00 to 1:20
The ability to summon Lily (Eos and Selene combined) and use all their skills at increase potency with added AoE effect.
Range extension on their AOE skills (or at least with Succor) from 15y to 20y
Responsive pets.
Although that should have been in back in 2.0.
A new fairy for sure.
Embrace- restores Hp
Fey Cuddle - Sleeps one enemy
Fey Grope - Restores mp to one target over time (like a magic goad) During this buff, target has weakness status.
Fey Molest- Party wide accuracy buff lasting 30 seconds.
New Fairy goes against lore and blah blah blah. I'd like to at least see Eos/Selene get some new abilities before they slap on another Fairy. It'd be nice to have more pet management going on, right now it's pretty simple.
Change Dissipation to an instant Fairy swap with no other benefits! I can't see this happening as it's quite a change from what Dissipation currently does, but I think a swap move as such would add a bit more decision making to our job while in combat. Though ideally this move gets changed for 3.2, we'll see. ;D
You have the ability (in lore) to summon one fairy and one fairy alone. Selene is the dusk aspect of Lily, Eos the dawn aspect, and LB3 seems to summon Lily whole on SCH.
But hey, who isnt to say that in the future they go "hey found this old Nymian text, it allows you to summon a different fairy" etc etc etc.
I wanna be able to summon two faeries at once.
As has already been mentioned, there are quite a few times where a fairy swap is good to use. That being said, my point was that it would add more of an option to our gameplay. There are definitely times where one fairy would do better than the other for a particular phase but you're not going to switch cause you use SC and lose a chunk of MP. That's why my ideal 'Dissipation' would be just that. To add a healing buff or AF stacks or something to it would make it OP.
Those are odd names very odd?
I personally would like to see some new skills an new fairy skills. Silent Dusk, while nice, is too niche, and the delay that is involved doesn't make it very good. What about a skill that increases critical hit rate, similar to battle litany, or an MP refresh skill, something. I just know Scholar needs Libra, it just does what it would do, I have no clue, they just need this skill. Another thing is it would be nice iv the fairies had some kind of Enkindle move.
No party buffs affecting stats. That's astrologian. They should have their identity in being the emergency healer.
I'd like to see no more new skills but rather traits. SCH have a skill for any situation. Adding an aetherflow trait would be nice. Quite frankly, the class should be split from smn. They can retain their dots, just give them new look and name -- or create a new dps rotation entirely for them. That way they're able to be balanced outside of smn. (Ideally, I'd just like to see classes gone. Make job crystals mandatory for starting out. You start out as whm/blm/etc. and you level those classes for their abilities, basically the way it is now but with jobs). They could also change the Int trait into Mind. Right now it's just kinda sitting there on SCH. These are changes I hope for in 4.0.
This has already been done in 3.0 with the exclusion of class abilities via levelling. They tested something out with ACN, which didn't work as intended, but so many people have played and loved SCH for a long time now so you can't simply rework the entire job for the sake of it. They've rectified it, and moving forward SCH and SMN will only drift further apart.
I agree with the party buff thing, it's quite silly it wasn't anticipated and removed at the start of 3.0.
ANNNNNNND if that is the reason sch are only limited two pets then that absolutely holds no more water than a sock with a big fat hole in it. Dusk and dawn aren't the only two components of a day there's daybreak, dawn, day, midday, twilight, dusk, night, and midnight. Lore is not reason, at most not a very good one.
A sure crit buff for the next spell done. would buff scholars a little and give them more tactical options.
a few more area spells like sacred soil. one perhaps to restore mana.
Of course it holds water.
The fairy was a familiar created through Nymian technology (or magicks). As the entire populace of Nym were infected by a disease that turned them into tonberries, whatever knowledge they possessed were lost till a certain adventurer quickly nabbed away the soulstone and became in possession of a familiar named Lily. Lily was already "constructed" with the two aspects we know today. As you completed the scholar quests, Lily reclaimed some of her memories and at the same time you helped certain tonberry recover his and he, in turn, helped other Tonberries.
But wouldn't this mean they'd be able to make more fairies with their memories reclaimed?!
Well, no. Even with their memories, there are several issues:
Whatever was used to create said familiar was made with Nymian materials, technology and/or magicks. All but what was written on tablets that has survived the erosion of time would be lost. And the known tonberries with their memories are unable to utilize aether properly to perform any magicks involved in creating a familiar.
If the ability to create more familiars was possible, why hasn't this been done or mass produced already? Alka Zolka was extremely enthusiastic about the ability of Nymian tactics and the capability of Scholars. Yet he never pursued the possibility to train and enlist more scholars to work together with Marauders. Which was the original purpose of their pursuit of Nymian tactics. It's not like he doesn't want to, but he can't.
Then they can simply teach you how to make your own fairy!
And this addresses the following:
It was never specified they remembered every single detail prior to succumbing to the green-disease. They have merely reclaimed their humanity, although they are somewhat related to memories. In particular the finer details into "crafting" a familiar. After all, they've been loitering around like green zombies for nearly five hundred years.
Modern arcanists have carbuncle, though
Here is where the "unknown" would be. What is carbuncle in the first place? It was never mentioned it is a familiar, nor is it mentioned anywhere it's actually a primal. Primals aren't limited to brain washing god-like beings. King moggle mog, Shiva and King Thordan doesn't have a band of mindless thralls that gives them their form and shape. It's very possible that Carbuncle is actually a primal. Even if it is a familiar, it's closer related to the summoner egi's.
I personally want to be able to apply instacast dots onto targets.
Basically it'll heal as much as a cure or physik but will heal that amount over 10 seconds.
Also more damage reducing spells would be nice too.
If SE wants it to happen it can. The summoning of egis isn't "exactly" like the past summoners. It's infused with the teachings of today's summoning. Example of what SE Could do:
Lilly senses that she has found a new strength within her, but can't quite understand it, like words in her soul that won't form. You ask the nymians what this could mean. Obviously he has no idea. He suggests strengthening your bonds with Lilly, by entering her aetheric core with your mind. Inside you fight dark sprites with either Eos or Selene as NPcs (summoning them doesn't work, think permanent dissapate.) Finally after defeating them you see another fairy. Selene and Eos Touch the third fairy and become Lilly and you exit her aetheric core. You report to tonberry and he explains that your own aether had been strengthening lilly this entire time allowing her to harness another aspect (such as midday.)
Where there is a will and publishing/development control, there is a way.
What I'd like to see:
- A Fairy Swap skill which gives a party boost depending on which fairy was summoned (Eos - natural health regen bonus, Selene - natural MP+TP regen bonus).
- HP or MP "bubble" spell which extends the max HP/MP pool
- "Reverse" Deployment tactics that draws all nearby shields into the target its cast on
- 100% crit chance for 5s, can be cast on others, single target/high cd
- Turns every shield into HP depending on the remaining shield potency, 15y
With that kind of thinking:
Black Mages can start resurrecting through the power of lightning
Arcanist obtaining the power of nature through tactical devices and become White Scholars, obtaining every spell and ability originally monopolized by White Mages
Every job can suddenly have magical pets because why not
Hydaelyn decides to perma echo you
Lily becomes a pokemon and starts evolving into Lillith, becoming the sexiest beast of Eorzea
There's a thing about adding story to the lore just to make things possible or adding story to the lore because it is possible. For example: Somehow Alka Zolka found another tablet that would describe how fairies are constructed. Where did that tablet come from? How did he get it? Why didn't anyone else like the Imperials get their hands on it first? It's a bit too convenient for it to suddenly appear in his hands by chance. Yes, Square-Enix could go for these kind of cheap story telling approaches. But the question is whether they want to resort to cheap story telling approaches.
Alternatively, if not the lore issue, there's balance issue. For that you can consult an older topic: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...a-third-one%29
Carbuncles are an individual's creations. Meshing their aether into a living form using the arcane. Summoning is bringing your aether with that of a primal. Scholars borrow a fairy, created by a people thousands of years ago, but posses nothing of your aether? If it ever happened, we'd just give up a new skill in place of a new fairy. The main argument against fairies isn't the lore, it's the possibility of gross imbalance and "I want something else instead."
Overall though, I'd rather they added fairy skills to further exaggerate the difference between eos and Selene instead of adding something like "helios". I'm just saying that I believe lilly could grow, she's unlike anything else that's summoned.
Yeah i want a 'next spell cast is a crit' so you can critlo tank busters or what not
Being able to summon both Eos and Selene would be cool though, and a way to separate them from the other healing classes.
Would really like to see Arcanist revised to be something more than just a DoT-class, and then for Scholar to build upon that in a different direction from Summoner. Though at the same time I don't want to drop SCH's ease of dps through DoTs and Bane...
Other than that, maybe just some faster or more frequent manipulations similar to Deployment Tactics and Emergency Tactics, or just improvements upon those two themselves, and maybe some additional types of shielding or mechanics by which to augment shields.
Changing some of the fairy skills from mere cooldowns to something more resource-based, or on which direct casts could be spent, could be interesting as well. Or even just an additional ability per pet. I can't yet imagine a third pet having enough to offer or be worth its development, but I'm sure someone else could.
I did and disregarded it because people who bring up the lore argument always throw that bit there. Just because someone goes "blah, blah, blah because lore it has to be that way....btw gonna say this to cover my butt even though it conflicts with my prior stance on the arguement, lore may be changed/retconned" doesn't mean I'm going to not call them out. If you're going to go hey 'read the second half of my post, what was the point of the first? So were you agreeing, disagreeing, posting just to throw a bag of words out there?
Lots of good ideas here... I don't really care if they add another fairy/aspect of Lily or not, but I don't think SCH needs more abilities. Fairy abilities and traits would be enough.
I do like the idea of an "Enkindle" like ability for them... Selene's could be the crit buff/insta-crit mentioned in this thread. Would pair nicely with mitigation or DPS, which in turn mesh nicely with Selene. High cooldown would ensure it's not too OP. Eos would need a super-heals Enkindle... Maybe something kind of like Collective Unconscious that contains both a shield and a regen?
An ability to refresh the fairy's cooldowns at the cost of an Aetherflow stack or three. That's really all that Scholar would actually benefit from without trivializing most of the game's content.
I like the idea of unleashing Lily as her own - and i really would love to see an "enkindle" skill of her in this form. maybe some kind of whms "Assize" skill which changes depending on your current stance: If you are in cleric make it a powerful atk-skill like the summoner-ones (aoe dmg & silent/stun) if your in healing stance make it like a great aoe heal/buff (aoe heal & esuna/shield).
Why do summoner pets have enkindle but scholars faeries not? : /
