Please remove light party restriction on FC workshop

In my FC at least, people do the FC crafting here and there in their free time, but no one actually forms a group and crafts together at the same time. People mostly just contribute materials and the officers have to assign the projects and take out the finished products.

It ends up just being a hassle to call in 3 other people to stop whatever they are doing just so I can take out the finished product and put up the next project. Sometimes I want to work on projects for a long period of time but I can't because that would require me to ask 3 other people to stand around and do nothing while I throw materials into the thing.

Long story short is, the restriction doesn't do what I think the developers intended it do (have crafters all join up and make things at the same time together), people at least in my FC do the FC crafting by throwing the materials in the FC chest when they can. The light party restriction just keeps us from getting projects done because it's a hassle to make people go out of their way. I could get a lot more projects done without this restriction.

I doubt they will do this since it's a group activity.

And I agree with the original poster's complaint. People in my FC also focus on a lot of stuff other than crafting.
It would ve great to be able to finish projects without this restriction, for example I wann create a bunch of actions through the workshop, but I can' expect my members to stay there just so I can deliver the items, finish the project and start anew over and over.

group activity ? Not quite. Everytime you need 4 crafters inside, you 'd better not be too picky.

"Please crafters needed, even a lvl 1 will do, please sign for a crafting guild, get a tool level 1 and come help"

I agree with zombiehunter and OP too. When I'm into crafting the airship, I can't ask players to stay put until I finish all crafts.

You don't have to, not exactly anyway. You can craft everything in advance (for all the stages required) and literally just feed them in/progress the stages when you have everyone in the same room. It is frustrating having to get 4 people together, but it's also not been that much hassle as even getting people from linkshells I'm in isn't hard as other people seem to feel that pain and it's not like they really have to do anything. They just need to idle as a level 1+ crafter in the workshop for ~5-10 minutes as you assemble the item.

I meant, the whole point of this feature was to "force" people into collaboration, specifically crafters from the Fc's. If we ask random people for help, or get away with crafters lvl 1, what's the point at all in implementing this restriction ?

"Group Activity" = 1 person who cares about the airship along with 3 people AFK inside the workshop that they begged or bribed to be there... I agree, this is a stupid restriction that needs to be removed.

As someone with a small FC, I agree with OP. We NEVER work collaboratively on the airship/etc at the same time. We contribute materials all separately and then finish parts all at once (because it's such a pain, waiting around while a part is made). I am usually the one putting the finishing touches on things and feel bad asking people to wait around for 10-15 minutes AFK while I click buttons...

So you all don't work on it together. That's fine. But your FC mates can't take 30 seconds to teleport to the house and be in the room to advance the project? Really?

It's not that they can't. It's that it's a nuisance to everyone involved. People generally are out, you know, playing the game. They are busy in a duty, waiting for the duty finder(which means they would have to lose their place in queue to come do the workshop), or they are otherwise occupied in a party (fates,hunts, etc.) And if they are not involved with any of the above, then they are probably AFK.

Rarely is anyone just standing around doing nothing and readily available to come to FC shop. Yes I can wait for people but the point is I shouldn't have to. Why should I have to inconvenience people in order to just finish the project. Everything is already crafted and turned into the fabricator, but for some reason I need 4 people to be there to press the "done" button ?

It's just silly and unnecessary.

I understand that SE is trying to encourage cooperation among crafters, but this restriction fails to achieve that, so just get rid of it.

I would also suggest reducing the recipes for smaller FCs (and increasing it for massive ones). We have 1 main and 2-3 sub people contributing in a FC of only around 15 total members. It's a huge strain we can't keep up with for long.

But it's so fun watching the party leader push buttons while you afk.

So far other than helping random FCs with this as asked and if I have time(besides my own), been offered gil to come afk, had someone fire of fireworks each time the button is pushed etc... hehe

Will be easier for SE implement (or more willing to ) that each of the 4th crafters needs to push a button to can advance instead :p

Yeah OP, I agree, because my FC is so small and there are literally 2 (I don't actually craft) who care about the ship, I always feel so bad and awkward when I have to randomly ask my FC members (or worse, people outside my FC) who clearly don't seem to care or have anything to do with the ship to take time out of their day to stand in a room while I press a button. Or worse, sit there and wait while the other ship crafters in the party try to frantically gather more mats for the next phase because we have no idea when we'll have enough people to push us to the next phase again. I mean that's what's friends are for I guess? But still.....

I feel that if it's a nuisance to get 3 friends to take 1 min out of their on line time to help someone complete a project.. more friends are needed. It was meant to be a group activity, so taking the group out of it is not likely to happen.

I get that it's a pain that you can't do it without friends who won't show up for a minute, but perhaps recruit some people or start a Linkshell?

also why do people have to afk while someone pushes buttons? Is there a special reason they can't pre-load the machine with everything needed before asking people to come?

The 3 steps are actually completely useless. They could just make a bigger pack of them. That would divide the number of partys needed by 3 and would save every FC a lot of time and troubles.

The only small reason would be the HQ things, which no one cares about.

I guess you are all complaining about a gateway which is just bad implementet. It should be reworked, not removed. If they remove the light party requirement there is no need of the workshop either, no reason left to put it in the workshop instead of putting it into the recipe list of specific crafters. The only reason for this gateway is that you can't do it as a single person. So they implemented it the easiest way in requireing a light party.

It should reworked in a way like crafters need to feed in the mats and processing the step as a single action and you can only feed in crafts you can craft with your actually equiped crafter. This would atomaticaly bring in the need of multiple players to participate but with a better reason than just to AFK in the workshop. Easier recipe less people needed, more difficult recipe more people needed.

The point isn't that people have to afk, it's that they don't have a real reason to be there except 'Square says so'.

Advancing production is a single button press.
So, party leader pushes the button and the other three watch. It's not too bad at first, but once the novelty has worn off, it's not something people are falling over themselves to do.

Getting four crafters together at the same time can be difficult at times (especially in a small FC) and I hate being that person nagging away in chat,
'Please, we just need one more person, any level...
You don't have to do anything, just stand there...
It'll only take a minute...
It doesn't matter if you are afk...'

Does that sound like an engaging group activity to you?
It certainly doesn't feel like one.

In my former FC, we were so few crafters that I even had to BEG and incitate players to sign in a crafting guild, get a tool lvl 1 so they could help. Most of the times, I just wouldn't get any answer, as people were busy at something else or just didn't understand why they should be there at all.

A rework that gave the other crafters a reason to be in the workshop and something to actually do would make me happy and I'm sure it would give our company's crafters a sense of accomplishment when each stage completes, which is something they don't get right now.
I'd personally prefer this to removal, but then our company is lucky enough to have four or five crafters who are in-game most days.

Here's the problem I'm running into: Not everyone /wants/ to craft. They just don't like it, don't see it as important, see it as a waste of armory space(giving how limited it is), and so on. Whatever their reason, as a FC leader I should not be in the position to either beg or attempt to force, bribe, or otherwise manipulate my members into picking up a crafting class in order to further our company crafts. And even if I did, everyone has to meet the level of the item that they're turning in or else it can't be turned in by them. Outsiders can't turn it in for you either. Everyone in the fc, regardless of class, should be able to turn in mats. We get them from maps, dungeons, leves, just about everything. So if someone has the mats, why are they barred from turning it in just because they don't enjoy crafting? If everyone can contribute, they'd feel more helpful and be more willing to participate. As it stands, forced "cooperation" only breeds resentment. So many people already hate the company workshop as it is because it's so /forced/. Light parties shouldn't be required to proceed to the next step. I'd be less irritated if it was just there to /finish/ a craft, if it has to exist at all. But right now, this is unnecessary and not fun for anyone involved.

Because square says so... is pretty much the reason for game rules for every game they make... It's a team activity, to be blunt.. just find a team to do it. There's over 5 million subscribed accounts. If your FC can't take a minute out of their day to progress something for the company, I think you're in the wrong company. Not trying to be mean, I just don't see SE changing this as it's a group activity, it's not a single person activity.

I'm lucky, our FC has crafters and we are enjoying FC crafting a lot, but the design of this is severely lacking, and even with those keen crafters, I've noticed problems getting people to group up to do this.

As to the suggestion of Specialist turn-ins, I really hope not. It's only going to exclude more people from content they might otherwise enjoy

No, I'm sorry. It is a team activity whether you want it to be or not. It just simply is.
