It's my falt? Yes. But please, make unique, or important itens go to key itens, or make them unique. using the same skin as a fucking shipped bone is low. Now I requested a item restoration, that can be only used once... :(

What they could do is for important relic items like this, have a blue or green background on the icon. That way its easily distinguishable from a bone chip or a wyvern obsidian or whatnot.
I did the same thing :/ so you're not alone.
The unidentifiable bone looks like a trash item called Bone Chip which if I find one I toss it usually...
I won't make the same mistake again but yeah I don't know why they didn't have a more valuable looking icon or a unique one.
Better yet, the devs could have thrown these items into the quest/key items pouch. I'm not sure why they need to be in standard inventory space.
Considering that you can also sell the items, it wouldn't be a key item and key items are usually obtained through quests rather than random drops. Making it "unique" means you could only have just one and not the 20 you need.
Isnt there a confirmation pop up for these ?
If not they should add one. GG problem solved.
Well everybody asking them to alleviate the disaster that inventory item is, and after what? years? they still didnt. no clue why, must be a very hard thing to do, maybe they need more developers on their team just for this. Im sure Yoshi will address this on next live letter if he is not that busy answering about new glamours.
Since inventory space is already lacking for many players it just makes sense to make items involved in the relic quest into key items. I'm usually pretty careful when it comes to deleting items but I can totally sympathise with people who regularly have to clear out their inventory.
no, they're not.

Same reason crafting mats can not have their own tab i guess...to much character data or that rubbish excuse..Guild wars 2 can do it...and if a bank is not loaded with a character why can i not have a mats storage....same with quest based items should be a bank tab for them.
Am I the only one who move them to the retainer shortly after obtaining them?
Guild Wars 2 uses an entirely different engine and architecture. Your comparing an airplane and a submarine and saying 'why cant the submarine fly? The plane can.'
That said, FF14's set up seems rather restrictive and behind the times. The problem is its hard, time consuming and costly usually to retrofit what is part of the foundation of a system like this when the system is already built.
We already have background color for some items like rare paint...
They really should consider starting to make these kind of important items "blue" or "green" items to begin with.
I also put mine on my retainer as soon as I get them. Though mine is cause my inventory is full as is, I didn't need more to fill it up.
This is why I dispose items by selling to vendors, it's faster and in case of a mistake, can just buyback.
whats even better is you cant sell things like precision bolts, but the UI objects arent protected at all.
What Miles is saying is that you can sell the item to a vendor.
@OP, I don't really see the harm in making these a key item, or even just a confirmation message. Sorry to hear you accidentally discarded :(
From a technical standpoint there is a reason that these items aren't key items. Just as in the previous relic quest series, many of the items you get to progress the quest aren't actually a part of the quest itself. It's entirely possible to farm up all the unidentified items you need for this stage of the relic before you even reach it. This is how people are able to farm up multiple sets of atma and such as the items aren't tied to the quest. You need them to finish the quest but there are no quest updates for obtaining them.
The key items section of your inventory is for items that are part of quest progression; as in the quest specifies that you obtain, possess or use those exact items and you will only ever possess a specifc amount. If you abandon the quest, the related key items are automatically discarded. Since the unidentified items aren't technically quest items (you can get them and turn them in without the quest) they can't go in key items. If they were key items you could basically stack them forever and it would just function like a new currency instead...
I do agree that the items could use a purple icon background and a confirmation on selling/discarding though.
Yup, I accidentally sold 2 to a vendor as I was getting rid of some trash. LUCKILY I noticed and got them back... but having the exact same icon as bone chips was a horrible decision.
Ok, you might be able to actually get them without the quest. But what do you turn them in for? You can sell them, which is on one hand not the same as turning them in and on the other hand a huge design oversight. These items aren't for anything else, they can only be used in this one quest - they are items that are part of quest progression, as you yourself put it. You can't progress in the quest without these items, that's the quest itself, to have the item and turn them in.
Keep saying (and hearing) this, but they should really turn all the damn tokens into actual currencies. Such a fancy currency window we have now, and such glaring and major issues we've had with item storage, yet they continue to do the same thing over and over, making the same "mistake" time and time again, with flooding our inventories with tokens that shouldn't be there in the first place, and definitely shouldn't be sellable at all............................. it's funny in a sad way, seeing this same phenomenon occurring with such frequency.
They just announced in the live letter that they will fix the issue that makes it possible to sell them.
A Submarine technically "Flies" under water. They both do the same sort of job, but have different coding, what im getting at is we have A GC chest, why can we not have a player based version for mats? It will act like a retainer with more space and has to be either bought from the cash shop with im fine with or built ingame.
They claim reason we have so many retainer is that it doesnt cost the server anything as its only loaded when the player calls for the retainer, so why can we not simply get more retainer like items...for free?
Let them keep the same icons, just give them the green shade or something like rare fish. That would make a world of difference.
I'm sorry for anyone who has accidentally tossed the Unidentifiable item :/ Its absolutely ridiculous that they aren't key items or marked differently, they look EXACTLY like other icons!! I always put them right into my main retainers inventory so I don't accidentally toss them. I can't imagine the frustration of accidentally dumping one after ALL the effort that goes into getting one.
And you will not be able to buy them from vendor NPCs before activating the quest and wasting Law tomes and Poetry tomes on something else instead of buying those items in advance.
If I have to choose between them to be key items or buying them outside of the quest to prepare for the next anima the moment the first one passed that step and don't have to waste tomes on something else, I choose the last one.
just give those icons another background color
