[Request] Please add a PvP option for step 3 of the Anima Quest

As Blubbers, members of the Japanese community, and others have mentioned, the Anima relic quest chain was a huge missed opportunity to revive PvP. As many threads have mentioned, we want more ways to spend our wolf marks, so why wasn't this a viable currency to purchase the tokens needed for step three of the relic quest chain?

Please add wolf marks as an option to purchase the items needed to buy relic materials. Or, at the very least, for two of the four materials needed.

The thing I love about this relic quest is that it's basically a do-what-you-want type quest. But the thing I love is PvP. I am getting Law from doing Seal Rock, but it would be nice if I could use Wolf Marks as well.

I had the same thought independently. When the quest seems designed to make you repeat existing content a large amount, why isn't PvP one of the methods we can use for progress? PvP can always use a shot in the arm, it's never been super popular. Above all, it would have been the most fun way to grind progress on anima, as every pvp match is different, while still allowing S-E to control how long it takes us to get the anima by requiring a huge amount of matches be played.

I did almost the entire light grind for my last relic via frontlines, it wasn't as fast as other methods but it was way more enjoyable and I basically got it for free because it didn't feel like a grind. The one issue with the light grind was people had to end the match with that weapon equipped, so people would refuse to swap jobs to whatever best suited the needs of the party. Making these tokens purchaseable with wolf marks solves that issue, and I don't think the issue of people queueing and leeching will be bad, especially in your case tsukasa where flames queues on aether are extremely long.

don't make it cheap, make it worth about 6k wolf marks for one of them (10 wins = 1). That way it forces the "I'll stand here and die 19 times for relic" and forces an incentive to get that 600 as opposed to 200

100% agreed. I hate the final step of the new relic with a burning passion, but if I could even complete a tiny bit of it by playing PvP then at least I would be having fun rather than staring at it with utter contempt and boredom.

If they really wanted to increase PvP que times, they'd make the Crafted items purchasable using 100% of your Wolf Marks. I'm pretty sure almost everyone would rather PvP they pay those greedy crafting sacks of ...gil... the obstinate prices they're asking for. The downside would be that we'd have basically a ton of Eso farmers, only farming for marks. Unless the items were locked behind a rank restricted vendor.... then people would also want to do well to rank up so they could talk to the vendor who has the goods...

Meh...happens every patch. I've kind of gotten use it by now. Oh well..back to capping things through mindless, linear, predictable monkey do-monkey see dungeons. :.<

I completely agree, this was definitely a missed opportunity to give pvp a much needed boost in participation. Folks that would otherwise not do it or haven't tried it might even end up long time players. Sure beats hour long ques....

Another kick in the face for PvPers. Another confirmation SE don't care about PvP. They just have PvP in there 'cause it would be too embarrassing not to have any PvP.

Seriously, this is probably not true, but what else is one to believe? If they really cared they would have done, you know, PvP stuff for each patch. Like making PvP relevant to relic.

SIGNED because queues for my GC were bad enough before, but this doesn't give much incentive to do anything EXCEPT other things for the relic. Whereas I just now burn my Wolf Marks on desynthesis when I cap it anyway...

As much as I dread adding relic hunters to the already bad esoteric hunter problem, I still support this completely. Should've been there to begin with.

This would make way too much sense to add in (especially since its content that some ppl enjoy doing repeatedly anyway since its not a scripted monotonous engagement like the trials and dungeons become) for SE to actually do lol. I dont think they actually intend for relic acquisition to be enjoyable just time consuming.

Yeah hi I'm one of the crazy relic grinders you guys are talking about, I did multiple ones when each step was current (went into expac with basically 6 done). You don't want us anywhere near PvP. We are locusts and will turn content on its ear to get what we need in the most efficient way possible, actual objectives be damned. Remember you're dealing with people that ran Westwind 2000 times over a few days, only stopping to eat and sleep. People that would queue up for Brayflox Hard as 3man teams and vote abandon after the 2nd boss because to hell with that 4th guy this gets us tomes 10 seconds faster.
If you put the tokens on the Wolf Mark vendors, you'd have to make them so prohibitively expensive that no one would bother, otherwise you'll end up with something awful like alliances throwing matches to each other to grind faster or whatever nonsense they math out to be most efficient. I'll take longer queues over having 23 idiots screaming at me because I want to win at pvp rather than shave 30 seconds off the relic grind.

Agreeable, though it's inside-the-box thinking. Not that I blame you; you kinda have to think around the system as it is. SE has shot themselves in the foot when it comes to PvP. If they, for instance, had implemented a rating system based on performance (like fates), it would be harder to exploit. Just give players a noob buffer (10 matches/ranks/etc) to adjust. Else, if you don't achieve gold rating NO SOUP FOR YOU!! Of course, it doesn't have to be like this, just a suggestion from the top of my head.

No, see, the suggestion isn't to make this a truly viable competitor to all the other activities in order to encourage this kind of behavior at all. From what I understand it's a "while you're at it" kind of situation. People already behave this way when they enter into a match via Roulette. "I'm only here for the Esoterics" kind of people, anyway. I don't think there would be a tremendous influx of those would rather grind PVP than PVE objectives for their relic completion. But what it WOULD do is bring back the people who have abandoned PVP in favor of hardcore grinding an Anima weapon. An incentive to actually still play a match or two and not just feel like it's a complete waste of time compared to beast tribe quests, hunts, raid spam, etc.

Pretty much this.

Keep in mind that a large portion of the Anima grind is tailored to encourage long time players to continue running old content for the sake of extending it's life a little (especially for new players who need to que in for it). Yet, for some reason, the ignore PvP. That's old content too. It also has a DF roulette. So, why was it excluded?

Seems to me that they could have implemented this multiple different ways that would have re-vitalized the que times for PvP at least a little without making it a viable alternative that hardcore grinders would flock to. Off the top of my head:

• 1. Wolf Marks system.
  
  This would have worked in an identical way to the Poetics/Law purchases for items, only they would have had to increase the cost of the items for the wolf marks because wolf marks have a higher cap than poetics/law. With an increased price per item (in Wolf Marks) no hard core grinder would find it an alternative means to spamming easy/quick dungeon runs. However, it would allow Players who enjoy PvP to actually continue to play without sacrificing too much time not doing their relic grind. It would give PvP'ers who don't want to stop PvP'ing an option to still continue their relic, albeit a little slower.
  
  
• 2. A Token system tied to roulette.
  
  This would work the same way as the Alexander token system. Do your daily roulette for Frontlines. Get one token. One full week of tokens = 1 full set that can be exchanged. Not spam-able or easily exploited (1 a day is much better than Eso Farmers), but still allows PvP'ers to continue their relic while running content they actually like to play.

How hard would something like this be to implement, honestly? Yet, instead, PvP gets the shaft... again.

As someone who has been pvping a lot since wolves den-- I really have nothing more to spend my wolf marks on. Would really like to use it for relic.
