SE we forgive you.
I'll forgive them when it's nerfed, till then I'll hold from typing that sentence.
SE I forgive you. But you're not having any more of my money until you prove you're worth it again.
They didn't do anything wrong to begin with.
In the words of Anonymous "We do not forgive, we do not forget"
Words i live by.
Honestly, I am displeased, and have no intention of forgiving.
Since SE gives us no exit survey to determine why we have cancelled our subscriptions they leave us with no choice but to tell them on these forums. Judging by the state that reddit is in at the moment I'm far from the only one either. Your attitude is only going to harm your own enjoyment of the game when enough people quit for SE to not be able to afford to give you more 'content'.
IDK SE seems pretty bent on not helping the XIV team much at all atm so not sure how I should feel.
I don't even want forgive before they add bunny ears for males
I like it. I don't want it to change. My attitude is putting me exactly in the position I want to be. You assume most people share your opinion when it's incredibly common on patch weeks in every MMO to have waves of negativity. You aren't the army you think you are.
Others ARE allowed to enjoy grindy content. Your wave of angry people will die down like it always does, in every game.
Let me simplify it a bit:
Remember when they admitted they over did it with the moogle side quests, based on the player's feedback?
SE, you've overdone it with the rehashed relic grind. Maybe not all of us feel this way, but a large majority do. . . Just like we did the first time. Do NOT do this again.
I won't forgive them unless they find a way to fix the whole issue of the craftable bit.
You wouldn't rather they included some form of story to go along with it? You wouldn't want any new content, like the chimera or hydra they did in the first one? Your totally happy with them using the same models as the eso weapons, not even new things for glamour? Over the top excited at the prospect of 600 or so Alex NM runs? Totally satisfied that the first two portions appear to be something they could have released months ago with no detrimental impact on the game, but instead waited 6 months to release, in what appears to be a ploy to keep people subbed till 3.2, rather than producing meaningful quests and content?
At this point I'm convinced that the dev team is doing everything to the best of their abilities, but are severly limited by the SE top brass concerning staff and/or funding, since they consider the game "saved" and have now pulled off all the extra help the team got. That's why updates since HW are so slow and not exactly rich in content. And since I stick to this theory until proven wrong, I won't forgive SE as a whole yet :P
See now in every MMO, whenever there is outrage on the forums there is always a small group that brands them the 'vocal minority'. For the most part they are usually right, they are a vocal minority. But think on this: for every MMO that died a death there was one moment of outrage on the forums that actually DID spell the doom of the game.
I've been playing this game since launch and been pretty active on the forums the whole time. I'm used to the forum negativity and I know what 'normal' looks like on here.
I have NEVER seen the forums in the state they're in today. This is not your usual patch criticism.
I for one was really looking forward to the new relic quests...but once I started the fate grind I quickly realized that there is no way I am going to grind fates again. So after I got my 1st lucky crystal drop from a fate (2+ hours of non stop fate grinding with 50+ in the area banging them out) I stopped to check my seal count (capped) then warped over to my GC city to buy some more ventures. When I reached the GC area I saw someone with their new i200 BLM Anima Relic (Lunaris rod awoken) and realized at that moment this is all SE could come up with? The i200 relic weapon is nothing more than a rehashed Esoteric BlM weapon. The only difference is that there is glow around the weapon...
At this moment I realized that SE is no longer about bringing quality to the table... nope they would rather spend their time rehashing old content and laugh at us while we hand them cash.
Fates - Really SE? You know how much people hated doing fate grinds for the atmas.... of all the things you could have done you had to add fates into the grind.... this is nothing more than mind numbing crap... HOW IS THIS FUN? I love the grind for the i80 relic weapon back in 2.0.... that was something worth doing.
So after this month is over I will be dropping sub till 3.2... hopefully by then SE will bring out some quality stuff.... but I wont be holding my breath.
I am very unhappy with this game....
Fact of the matter is they screwed up hard with it. Yoshi-P was saying Anima Relic would be a different more accessible experience from the Zodiac Relic, but it's the exact same thing cranked up a notch. There's going to be outrage, and honestly I think it SHOULD happen.
Question, though. Just because it survived does that mean they should go out of their way to draw ire? I mean, they had to know the reaction they would be getting.
Hmm lets see... rehashed ideas but cranked up on steroids, and oh the relice weapons themselves are rehashed esoteric weapons with pretty little glow. Ummmmmm we all waited 5+ months for this new relic and all they gave us was a rehashed glamour with different stats.... not cool in a P2P MMO especially with the title of Final Fantasy
lol.... the i80 relic was completely different from any other weapon in the game. 3.0 i170 relic looks exactly like the esoteric weapon and all you get is a nice glow at i200.... Who ever is in charge of creating these weapons are being extremely lazy. Relic weapons are so suppose to be a one of a kind not some replica of another weapon.
Hmmm guess we can call the 3.0 relics the ESO Replica... because that's exactly what it is.
Even if there are only 10 people working between expansions and cant afford to create any new content, they still could choose some better material for the new relic questline than what we've got now. I think most of all people are disappointed by lack of any new ideas involved in that grind and no money can fix that.
They didn't. It's simply a step in between, the finished weapon does look different, like you already noticed.
If you remember the original relic quest, this is basically like the grey, washed-out unfinished relic weapon you got during the quest and had to fight with. Sure, they could have done that again and given us the ugly version of the finished weapon, but at least to me, it feels a lot more "halfway there!" to have a regular weapon that already looks good with some really pretty glow instead of a dull, grey thing that merely has the shape of what the finished product is.
Also, getting the finished weapon will be a lot greater this way than what it would feel like if I had carried it around with me all the time already, and only gaining the color and glow upon finish.
We? I don't. All this grind for daggers that are worse than eso, gordian and thordan in every ways, not even worth doing, I'll wait.
They're not ny friends so I am not sure why I should forgive them... serves me no purpose unless the product they're selling will change, and it won't.
I'm disappointed about the string of poorly planned content post-HW launch.
Maybe the FFXIV team, but not SE themselves. I understand why people are so upset and disenchanted with the game lately, but I feel indifferent myself.
People expected too much from such a small team, and from a company still recovering from their losses. They're working on so many games lately too so that may factor the recent conditions of this one.
I don't agree with this in regards to expectations.
With the amount of publicity, hype and promoting they've poured into this game from various fan fests, developer interviews, and live letters I expected them to deliver something more substantial especially considering the relic questline was pushed back not once but twice, under the assumption that it was being seriously worked on.
If you look at the amount of new content actually involved in the quest (which is virtually none) I do not feel it justifies the length of time it took to release this from a design standpoint. The majority of the stages involve players doing content that was added in late 2.0 / early 3.0 so I see little reason (outside of subscription padding) that this or at least part of this quest line could not have been added earlier for what we've gotten, especially when you consider the fact that they didn't even create any unique trials this time around (Hydra, Chimera). Some of these steps should have come long before now even if it meant adding the first 2 stages of the weapon quest up to ilvl 200 and holding off to release the upgrades when they could be balanced around other content.
The conditions of SE's other games (FFXV, FFVII remake, etc) pay no factor to me in my decision to subscribe for and play FFXIV, additionally with 3 MMOs on the market (FFXIV, FFXI, DQX) I would expect them to know at this point exactly what happens when you over hype features and do not deliver I mean it's not even the first time they've done this in FFXIV (see: Housing).
Myself and many others who have voiced similar sentiments may not have been expecting the most amazing and inspired quest for relic but personally speaking I did expect them to listen to the massive amount of feedback they received for many stages of the first questline, the state current relic however leads me to believe that they haven't.
For the record I don't even think the new relic quest is difficult, overly grindy, or unreasonable. But I do not see this as a positive investment for the over 6 months of subscription fees paid nor do i see it as a positive indicator of things to come for the game, this in addition to many of the other complaints and feedback posted to the entirety of the Heavensward expansion thus far.
I'll remain subbed for now because i enjoy playing with the people i play with and i'd like to see what they say about 3.2+ but that's not by any doing of SE's.
Oh, I understand and completely agree with your points.
I never gave the relic any mind though, since I'm not really interested in it but I may try it to gear up some Jobs. I understand why people are highly upset over it but I honestly expected it to be the way it is as of now since I myself have been disenchanted with their decisions lately, but at the same time feel indifferent.
I didn't expect anything new or engaging from a minor patch, too.
Sadly, I believe SE is investing FFXIV's profits on their other projects *cough* FFXV, FFVII remake, Kingdom Hearts 3 *cough* and not giving enough on this one, so I mentioned. I may be wrong though.
For me, I'm still having fun with the game. I'm playing on a slow pace and I have plenty more things to do, but I may reach the point of considering unsubscribing if 3.2 does not have anything different or great to offer, or the next major patch.
Diadem was a start, but it was poorly thought of in my opinion.
I'm actually kinda sad that there was no cutscene where I could see my Last Resort Zeta one last time... Seriously... that was kinda heartbreaking...
That's fair, and I completely agree on Diadem as it felt like a good step forward but one that just didn't go far enough for whatever reason (small team? development costs?) hopefully 3.2 is the start of things turning around for the expansion that was supposed to "take risks" as they put it.
Nothing to forgive.
People asked grind, SE gave grind.
People asked more raid difficulty, SE provided more difficulty.
What will you ask next?
