I like pvp in FF14. I’m excited for the changes in pvp in 3.2. But at the same time I am skeptical devs will give pvp in ff14 the justice it deserves. I’m going to be blunt and may get hate for my following statement, but I think most will agree with me:
If the devs cannot deliver great and meaningful changes to pvp, I purpose they don’t’ waste any more development time and resources to pvp. We have great pvp gear and weapons like majority of the player base will never use. Yoshi is always stating how they want a certain percentage of ppl to play content to make the development time worth it. Does he do that in pvp? I highly doubt it. Many things players have asked for but have not been implemented due to staffing issues. Therefore to keep improving on FF14 if pvp cannot be done right by the devs for whatever reason, put a halt to it and focus on other things that make this game even better.

Remove Grand Company restrictions. Lets us play with our friends and allow the queue to pop when enough people have queued instead of potentially having an excess in one or two companies.

Because they spend a huge amount of development time on PvP as is? In reality that time would likely translate to one dungeon, if that. If we're going by percentages, then high end raiding content isn't worth developing, but as know that isn't the case since the game has to appeal to a wide audience. I for know that there's a niche audience that loves the PvP, and I wouldn't want to take that away from them. Lately it seems like there's been a large influx of "I don't like it so it should be removed" and it seems rather silly.

Changes I would like to see.
- Removal of GC restrictions for teams in PvP. They can still keep the GCs as the teams to differentiate but that shouldn't stop members from say the Flames being placed on the Maelstrom team for Seal Rock.
- Improved queueing system to go along with the removal of GC restrictions. The instance for a PvP match is generated and people zone in once the minimum number of total players, regardless of GC, is met. Upon hitting the min number and the instance popping, the pool of players is then evenly divided at random (with role distribution factoring in) amongst the three teams insuring a more even distribution of team members for each team at the start of a match. Preformed groups will of course be assigned to the same team.
- More PvP types, in particular a "Siege" type where the three teams have to destroy the opposing teams' fortresses and other fortifications to win. This mode would include the use of Magitech walkers similar to Praetorium, with the caveat that they are weak against players but very powerful against fortifications, requiring the strategic deployment and usage of them. -

Honestly, I think PvP content is lacking in some very basic, fundamental areas, and that's why it dies so quickly. There aren't any interesting mechanics in PvP...the morale system was introduced and dropped almost just as soon, and yet gear still has it as a stat.
Seize would be more fun if your fate wasn't left to such horrible RNG laws, as well. I've been in round where a team got an S-rank pop at the very beginning, and it was close to their spawn location, so they captured it immediately. This happened a total of three times within the same match, if I remember correctly. A team that communicates well could still be defeated by simple RNG bias, and being at the mercy of it means that players who do play PvP don't necessarily do it for the challenge, because you know how futile that could become. They just do it until they cap.
Add in the fact that we only have one map and oftentimes cannot play with friends, and you have a very, very limited gameplay mode. I understand PvP is lower on the devs' priorities list, but I really don't think it should be. It's run-able content that appeals to a large audience, and that's a gold mine with our current cycle of Alwaysreap, Fractal Continuum, and the two new dungeons.
