Your most ridicilous FFXIV Job ideas

It's winter, the cold is here, and many sit indoors with darkness outside. Amusement is needed. What ridiculous Job could you imagine to have or exist in-game? It could be something mundane, or something else re-imagined as DOW, DOM, DOL, or DOH. Maybe a Pacifist Tank Job? Manderville Man Job? Battle Cook? What could the abilities, skills, spells, traits, and/or Limit Break be?

What about a battle version of Weaver, similar to the Mascot dressphere from FFX-2? Or how about something like the Festivalist? What would they be like in FFXIV?

Make up. Mash up. Be weird. Go wild. Expand on each others ideas.

You could do something short, like:

Dreamer/Pacifist:
Abilities:

• Sleep: Consume MP to regenerate HP of self.
• Meditate: Regenerate MP of self.

Or, be vague:

Puzzler:
Ability:

• Cait's Cradle: (Cat's cradle) Different forms produce different spells.

Limit Break:

• Gordian Knot: Cutting string.

Or take it out completely:

Folklorist/Recorder Job

• Main weapon: Book with inkwell and quill.
  
• Book: Hit target with a book.
  
• Big Book: Hit target with a bigger book.
  
• Library Avalanche: Hit target with all the books.
  
• Pass note: Passes an effect to a target, friendly or foe.
  
• Table flip: Stuns target.
  
• Bookmark: Throw a bookmark at target to damage it.
  
• Paperweight: Apply Heavy to target.
  
• Happy ending: Resurrect target.
  
• Children's Song: Gives random effect to target.
  
• Blanket Fortress: Hide and reduce enmity.
  
• Change ink: Apply ink to pen.
  
• Record: Attempt to record an effect or attack.
  
• Recall: Apply recorded effect to target.
  
• Re-Write: Change recorded effect or attack to a different one.
  
• Erase: Remove detrimental effect.
  
• Fiery Eyes: Your soul is set ablaze with inspiration! Increases skill-speed for a time.
  
• Writer's Block: ... (Fail a recording.)

Trait:

• Recycle: Ink need not be applied as often.

Limit Break:

• Burning ink: Write in the air with burning ink, and fire it toward an enemy.

Mathemagician.

You fight evil.

With numbers.

Tank Job: Sheep Herder.
Summon up to 10 sheep and herd towards your enemies and foes.
Season your sheep to increase enmity.
Breed them to reduce the Summon cooldown.
Consume a sheep to regain health.
Wolf's Skin mimic the look of a predator, lowing your enmity by half.

Limit Break: The Great Flockening.

Alright, so they use geometric patterns rather than numbers, but it is mathematics nonetheless.

But with a possibility to enhanced DPS by giving them "weapon"

Like "take something in the bag" > a staff > use on Blm to enhanced magic potency
If no Blm... Then throw it on the ennemy to deal some dmg

...

Limite break would be drowning the ennemy under millions of gils !

The Designer:
Transform into Yoshi-P, challenge based on having people shout random things at you. Kinda like Simon.

Red Mage... Except this is a Job focused on their debonair charm than magic prowess.

Increase the affection of various npcs and then send them to battle like Pets! Will you use the tanky Aymeric? Maybe some magic damage with Y'shtola? Will you sacrifice Minfilia to Edda so you can resurrect and buddy up with a ghostly Hauchefant? The love interest and dating sim mini-game is yours to choose!

Note: Wide-brimmed, feathered AF hat does not necessarily come in hot pink.

Sage. Let's just say it functions like it does in a few other FF games. It's like a Red Mage, but it's a pure mage. My ideas for it were... ridiculous, and rather stupid. It's be a lot of work to go into.

It's been said earlier, but imo the most oddball job out there is Arithmetician. It's crazy broken if used correctly.

Gambler, your chance to hit, guess what, its random, chance of dying, also random, you could one shot the boss, or the level 5 mouse could one shot you. All the fun of raiding, but with atma level RNG :D

Also you are trained by a man who looks like setzer by playing GS minigames.

Berserker, you have no control over your character in battle. The first arc takes place in Tailfeather. By watching the enemies they teach you Howling Moon. That gives you haste, but lowers defense. And as the arc goes on you get more passives. The second arc kicks off with you going to Moghome after hearing about a Moogle of Unusual size. This leads you to the caves of Coerthas Western Highlands where you meet a Moogle and his "little" brother Umaro and they teach you the second Berserk stance, Yeti Stance. It's a little slower, but hits harder and as the arc goes on you learn to throw your party member, other enemies, and eventually yourself at the opponent. Naturally you can't change stances in battle. And both stances get stronger the less HP you have.

Except that we really do have the distinct possibility of seeing an Arithmetician in the future.

Mimic.

Select one teammate to copy their movements to your hotkey bars and have a cooldown timer so you can swap teammate classes in the dungeon. Also has their own skills like reflect and illusions etc.

Cryomancer
A Healer that usses ice and water magick.Uses Ice magic to fortify defenses and creates and barriers to support allies and uses water magic to heal allies. Share skills like Blizzard 1,2, 3 and Freeze from BLM and Fluid aura from WHM.

There was a thread a while agoin which everyone was discussing the lack of water magic. Turns out all Cure spells are water. You can tell the element of a spell by the Aura around the caster while they are casting.

Blue Mage Job

I thought they are wind.

Red Mage...from 8-bit theater. Somethin about being able to change his stats at will.

Dunno if it's ridiculous or not, but I did think of a possible way to implement blue mage. From my understanding it seems the biggest issue with the job is how learning spells and abilities wouldn't work well with the way the current system is, and also where would it fit in as a role due to the fact a true hybrid job wouldn't really work well. So here's my idea:

As for where the job would fit in it would be able to be all 3 roles in a manner of speaking. How this would be accomplished would a be a sort of role lock system, perhaps the soul crystal for blue mage is divided into 3 pieces, each piece representing a specific role: tank blu, dps blu, and healer blu.

How spells would work is there would be 3 classes of spells and each class of spells would only be usable by it's specific role: tank spells, dps spells, and healer spells. This would essentially lock spells out of being able to be used with roles outside their own role category, and prevent over inflation of actions necessary to the job overall, while still giving the job multitudes of diversity and adaptability (at least as far as being able to change roles outside of combat and instances)

As for how spells would be learned (from my understanding this is one of the bigger issues due to how abilities and spells are already handled) you would learn spells much in a similar way to how they are handled in other final fantasy titles, watch the move/spell activate with a chance to learn (albeit not nearly as bad as FFXI). Many people think this wouldn't be feasible due to how we already learn spells, however I would suggest that blu should take a different approach to this as well.

For class quests and leveling gains in general I would have blu learn spell boosting abilities and additional passive traits instead of acquiring new spells. This could give the job an even more unique method of playstyle as each ability could work differently based on the current role that the blu is locked into.

Now some of the issues with a system like this for blu are pretty obvious, like would you have to level each role or would it all be tied together, or how the job would play before learning spells, or even what weapon type they would use. Questions like those would likely have to be decided by SE and what direction they would want to take, however I think this method could possibly work well and could even devise a whole new expansion in which to include the job to fit in with the lore of said expansion (similar to how blu was in Treasures of Aht Urgan for FFXI).

Now this is a odd idea but why not make a blue image like quina from ff9. You could have the PC eat the enemy to learn the Blue Mage spell. There are many tribes around the world that believe by eating a certain animal u gain their strength. Could be funny if the Culinary guild gave the job quest.

Make it a mage tank. No, not a 'magic tank' like the Dark Knight, but a mage tank.

Gets baseline abilities. Blue magic abilities would revolve around taking hits and slinging them back.

(I imagine that bosses still use a potency system, or a base potency can be added to the ability that scales depending on the damage you take.)

I have to admit, I'm not too fond of the idea of locking abilities out, even for an otherwise possibly somewhat OP hybrid. Largely that comes down to the meta, where provoke is about the only thing a job might degrade itself to a class for, for certain 8-man speedruns and any other damage lost is just absolute waste. The other part is simply that I wish we did in fact have a bit more hybridization, in the sense of jobs taken 'for the job', and less 'for the role'. I don't really see there being anything wrong with a BLU being able to take exactly which and how many of each ability role he wants. Our tanks and healers each spend about as many ability slots, or more, on dps than they do on their respective 'roles'. The only thing that shouldn't happen, in my opinion, is that there should be enough different abilities out there that a BLU tank could feasibly trade out his arsenal before a given fight to perfectly match incoming attacks above and beyond the capacity of other tanks or healers to do so, or be able to go for such an outlandishly powerful nuke (e.g. Self-destruct) that s/he can cheese certain dps-check mechanics. In the current state of game, hybrids just aren't quite powerful enough to warrant limiting the versatility aspect of a BLU. The issue, as almost always, lies within each separate role.
