What are they going to do with the economy in 2.0?

Currently there is too much gil in FFXIV. Cause the game spewed out gil in its early stages.

Now its almost to the point now that any player who plays off and on like myself really can't buy anything because its like 200k-2m for each piece of gear for each slot. That leaves people going around in their level 1 gear for the longest time because its pretty impossible to raise the kind of gil people are asking for gear.

During the relaunch for 2.0 it will be an even bigger problem cause more gil will be in circulation which will cause more inflation and if they do attract new players most will not be able to buy gear for sale because it will be so high they can't afford it.

So will SE wipe the gil on relaunch or not? Or what can they do realistically.

They aren't wiping anything. Also, too soon to answer.

They wouldn't go as far as wiping everything, and they probably wouldn't end up making extreme gil-syncs either. If people have a shit ton of gil from the beginning, then they rightfully deserve to have that much. Those are not the people that are selling level 20 gear for 500k, the people doing that are the derptastic fools that sell to the rich buyers. However, if the crafters can stop being craptastic and actually sell for a lower price, it can work out for everyone. People can be greedy and it only caters to the wealthy.

I can buy a full outfit of decent gear for 200-500k on cornelia

I can attest to this myself. When I see that most of the gear my level is going for 200k+ and I have to use my old gear from way back when I started it honestly doesn't make me want to play the game more.

It be fine if there were other ways to get gear, IE quests, dungeons ect. but currently the only way to get gear is crafted gear which is crazy expensive cause of inflation.

Hopefully, we will be able to put as much of our gil into Free Company estates as we want, to get the biggest, best estates around.
If the entry-level estate costs 50k, and each level of estate costs roughly double the previous, ending at a 1-billion gil castle at the top end, I think that will sink most of the old gil nicely. Sure, some misers will hold onto their gil to pay for more important things. Frugal spenders, though, aren't going to keep the prices high, no matter how much gil they can spend, when they have the option of spending less.

The situation now doesn't mean it will be the same a year from now. We can speculate all we want but that really doesn't do us much good.

As for gear prices.... That seems a bit high if you're talking about mid level gear. For lower rank gear, patch 1.19a has addressed this by lowering the vendor costs for gear.

Edit: I forgot to add that NM's drop gear for mid level players.

How odd, i daily sell 10-20 pieces of gear for around 10-30k gil per piece, easy money, and people actually buy it. i get about 5 times as it costs to make it, so its more than an ok profit to me. The reason you see stuff for 200k+ is 1) it is new, 2) noone buys it, 3) noone sells it

They are going to make gold coin the new currency and gil will go the way of dated gear, it wont be worth anything.

No. I remember when you would easily get up to 25k per leve in the beginning. Now 10 is already exceptional. Those like us (who started to play at day 1) definitely have an "unfair" advantage over newcomers; and I clearly see the problem with that.

My character has an achievement for getting over 50k from 1 leve reward and i know of atleast 1 person who has an achievement for getting over 100k for 1 leve reward.

im sorry but you got it all wrong. Making money is not- in anyway- dificult in FF14, and no you dont have to have expansive gear in order to make money. but ofc if you play "off and on" maybe you lack the time of making gils.(alot of threads around in the forum about how to make fast gil btw). but what do you want? do you want to obtain gils even faster as we do now? [10 level 30 leves give you about 45k~ e.g.] putting myself in your shoes id recommend you to find an entertaining way to make money, alot of possibilities out there, wich is why gil is cheap atm. Please stop complaining abot expansive stuff, since it is not expansive, its just on high numbers since its REALLY easy to obtain a seriouse amount of gil in this game atm!
