Veteran Rewards kinda suck nowadays when comparing to cash shop items

just realized how veteran rewards items are not keeping up with cash shop... kinda pissed.

people that sub all the time should be given token to exchange for decent item.. like the recruit a friend event. they should prob start another "keep your friend in game" event.. LOL the fact that cash shop and recruit a friend get better unique mount while Veteran only get chocobo barding now pisses me off.

cancelled my auto-resub that's there since day 1 just now. T_T

(i guess this is one of these oops moment for me. lol. not sure where this "rage quit" came from)

got 88 days left on my sub.. I guess we will see if I change my mind.

I'd disagree, I want the cloud outfit and would pay more than what's in the cash shop for it

Veteran Rewards are different. I wish the Type-0 uniform will be put up as a Veteran Reward! I really want Rem's uniform :<.

Cash shop has more items than Veteran Rewards especially when Cash shop was only recently established.

I see your point, but disagree. There is so much content in the veteran reward system that massively outweighs the cash shop. We get the arhiman and behemoth unique mounts, 10 unique minions, cloud and firion glamours, and 3 different barding sets to name the stuff I care about. And dont forget that this stuff is FREE, you cannot argue that you are entitled to veteran rewards because you pay your sub, all you are entitled to is to play the game, the veteran rewards are simply an incentive to keep players subscribed (or more relevantly to get players to buy months in bulk)

I do see your point that there could be more though, and I would love another mount rather than focusing on firion (because for reasons thats the focus right now)

Hopefully we get something that stands out for 1080 days (3 years). I think that's a great milestone to introduce a new mount or something else other than glamour.

In any case, I don't agree with you at all. I'm looking forward to getting the next few Veteran rewards.

You couldn't pay me to wear most of what's in the cash shop.

I feel a lot of Veteran Rewards are cooler than most cash shop items.

I personally much prefer the veteran reward to the cash shop items. Clouds outfit is amazing.

I don't like any cash shop item till now. The veteran reward is much cooler than cash shop.

The veteran rewards, though, aren't in the same calibre as cash items. For one, the veteran rewards are just that, rewards. Something to celebrate a milestone. If the game didn't have them you'd still have been playing for X amount of time so a reward for something you were doing anyway isn't going to be all that extravagant. Cash items, though, are something you won't be getting anytime soon without expending some amount of cash. As such they need to make it worth dropping money on, otherwise noone will buy it. I know I haven't.

Most time in VII Cloud walk or ride a Chocobo.
Why more items are in cash shop? Because most items are from old saisonal events.
Those gears, that are not from seasonal events, are just the Scions outfits and the 2 wedding outfits (actually it's 3, but one is for free).

I waited forever for rank 5 and now kan is following me around. So I'm satisfied. :)

We even get the Behemoth Mount, wich I think it's too awesome to give it "for free"!

I think most veteran rewards are nicer than cash shop purchases, there's nothing that compares to the Behemoth or Ahriman on the cash shop. I do think it's lame they split up the Firion reward in two though, especially since they're an entire 120 days apart now.

The Firion rewards being split up bugged me too. Just got my barding and minion yesterday, and I would have much rather gotten something not tied to the last one. However, the reference in the Mogmail killed me. So that was something.

Cash shop will always have more. It was set up for different reasons and to generate additional revenue for SE and the game. I do agree however that Veteran rewards should be special and something most people would want especially for those who have subbed for quite some time. I'm not looking forward to the next one, can't remember the name of the outfit, but I suppose SE can't please everyone.

Edit: Wild Rose Attire – would definitely prefer Y'shtola's, Yda's or Minfilia's outfit in the Cash Shop to this.

Iirc Cloud rode the bike for all of one scene and a minigame. Even the broke down car and raft tiny bronco got more than that.

Anyway, I wish I could get into the rewards more, but I like looking like my own character better than cosplaying as some prior character.

I just wish that every 6 months or 1 year, they'd throw in a free retainer which we desperately need.

Well all I can say that while the barding and a minion is kinda "meh" at best, the only time I felt really angry was the 360 reward back then being Aetheryte tickets.
But I do agree that we're really due to a new vet-mount though, the last one has been at 270 days. A really cool idea would be a 4 seater car mount from either FF8 or FF15 xD or maybe a doomtrain flying mount...

Ahhhh I am still day-dreaming of a doom train primal fight! lol

I personally think the veteran rewards have been just fine. A lot of people enjoy the glamours and I can't think of anything in the Mog Station that should have been a veteran reward instead. (the red/white magitek maybe?) but then people would have complained that it was just a recolor.

They could make ground mounts travel faster, most larger mounts are painfully slow already. It doesn't exactly have to be zooming fast, just fast enough for the mount to not appear odd. Here's an example from WoW.

I think you might have missed the general equality that exists in this game. The ahriman was given the ability to fly, but there's a preceding quest that allows the company chocobo to fly. The ahriman has no distinct advantage over the company chocobo. So no, having one mount go faster than every other mount wouldn't be fair no matter how you spin it. There's no precedent, even among the veteran rewards.

But the fact it was in development and just got shit caned because of Mount speeds (which I don't even think is two times player Sprint speed) when mounts are seemingly slown any way.

Ah well. Not like it's fit lore wise until we hit at least Garlemauld.

It isn't. It's 2x player running speed. Sprint is about 1.7-1.8 player running speed and the 'permanent' speed boosts (Swiftsong, Fists of Wind, Rogue trait) are around 1.5 player running speed.

Sonbeing twice sprinting spead would make a mount nearly 3 times normal movement speed? Hmm, I can almost see where an issue would be. Mob yoinking, Extra stress from Zerg Packs, connection speed issues, ect.

For every thing we get on the player's end there's always a consequence to the server. So increasing mount speeds, especially only for specific ones, would almost certainly cause more problems than they'd be worth.

I believe the servers only updates the position of the player every 0.2 or 0.3 seconds (not entirely sure which one, or even if it's either, but the point stands regardless), even if you're traveling at 10,000x the sprinting speed it wouldn't make a difference as the server only checks your position periodically.

What I don't get is..what the actual issue is..like is it too fast? If so whats the issue of making it go the normal speed of other land mounts..I don't think people will flip out too much if it's the same speed.

This is also another of the issues with fast mounts and was also quite the problem early in 2.0 when people were trying to kill Titan Hard. Lag and the update proc would have people getting Weight or Landslid when not even in the AoE. Imagine, then, what that'd be like with a mount exceeding the current speed cap. You'd be motoring along then suddenly find yourself getting dismounted by a mob you'd passed moments ago. It's happened to me more than a few times between 1.0 and early 2.0. There's also the matter of equality, Square clearly doesn't want to force one mount to be ideal over all (except the Company chocobo, but he's meant to be special). I'm fine with that, means we can make any mount we want be our favorite and not suffer for it.
