What has S.E. said about the suggestion of adding right-click > Report system?

I'm sure it has been suggested multiple times but I want to know what's S.E.'s stance on introducing another entry to the right click menu on players to report them and state what they are reporting the players for? Wouldn't it make things a lot easier for them to find the bots?

would help ps players it is way cumbersum to report rmt spam, botters etc.

I haven't seen anything said, but put my hat in agreement for it.

I don't think it's been directly responded to at all, other than telling us to just use the help desk>report feature, which isn't really responding to the NEED for this sort of basic client function at all

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it's been put in the 'too hard' pile, like a lot of other seemingly simple QoL fixes and requests. (Chocobos with DF, TP display for a long time etc)

That kinda sucks if it's put on the "too hard to implement" list. I've already made a template that I just fill up with the player's name and spam but having the right click option would make things a lot easier and save people the time of copying and pasting.

Its probably more that right now, with it being more then just a few clicks means that people who use it are almost positive it is something reportable. After all if you find it too much of a hassle to report it, it probably isn't something that should be reported right now.

Again I still think they should change it to right click --> report anyways.

A part of me can't even understand how an old MMO like Runescape, of all things, can have a right click report system but Final Fantasy XIV cannot. (Even though I heard Runescape got rid of it, but that's another can of worms I'd rather not open)

I think it would be a waste of time to add that function.

I would much rather have a better filter and options to shut off friends list like the invisible mode like in ffxi this would prevent them from sending friends request.

Something really needs to be done about this.

We need that reporting system as an option, yes, but we also really need a "Tells from Friends Only" to stop the abuse as well. It's gotten really bad again with what appears to be the holiday push by these losers.

They report, that RMT gets banned, they make a new character and spam some more, the report button would do jack squat. The only way to stop them is to hinder their ability to message people and send invites.

Reporting them isn't stopping the issue, we have a report button people have used it and problem still exist. Tell me how great it would be? Cause I am not seeing it working.

Friend, Ls and Fc private messaging should only work this should be a option by checking a box. this way its optional.

Same with the friends invites option by box click on or off if you want a friends invite.

What can a RMT do then? I shut /tells off in game I don't get a single message but also I cannot see others tells anymore which sometimes is a problem but better than getting spammed 100+ times a day.

Its funny cousin said FFXI setup a filter a long time ago and FFXI is a old game and FFXIV cannot catch up in standards to a old game is pretty laughable.

I remember hearing something how Squenix is afraid it would cause accidental reporting, but I'm not too sure about the source on that one.

It would be nice if it did the following:

1. Send the message that was sent to you as a report
2. Block this user from sending you any new messages for 24 hours (or some appropriate time frame)

I've been having to clear out my black list, which was just full of these gil sellers.

At least putting a block on them, and sending a report with the text of the message they sent should be good. On SE's side, reviews could be prioritized based off the number of reports for a given username.

This won't stop them, but hopefully slow them down, and we wouldn't have to fill out blacklist up with people who no longer will exist after SE investigates.

It may not be too much of a hassle the 1st and 2nd time, but this is something that happens often enough to become a hassle to go through that process every time you get a RMT tell.

You aren't seeing reports working for 2 reasons: 1) The current report system is a royal pain to use so most people either just ignore or blacklist and never bother to spend the time to report them (seriously, if it takes even 2 minutes to report them then it only takes 15 messages to waste a half hour of your time, and you can get more than that in a shorter span of time). 2) The investigation processes SE uses doesn't target the sellers but the 'bank' characters, so it takes longer for things to get done since they have to track them down.

This option would actually go a long way to solve the problem. When it takes just as long to report and block an RMT as it does for them to shout/tell their ads, then more people will report and more accounts will be tracked down. When LotRO launched the RMT spam was horrendous, a month later they introduced the 'Report as gold seller' option on right click and within a few months... blissful peace and quiet, so it does work... If it's done right.

A lot of RMT bots aren't being reported enough to rank high on the priorities list. I've personally seen the same bots sitting below a bridge in New Gridania for weeks straight without action being taken. I try to report each and every bot I see, but when the RMT really picks up, it's nigh impossible. Being that I'm on PS4, it's harder for me to copy and paste a name if my chat log is scrolling due to having so many RMT messages come in at once. I feel that reporting is sort of useful, but it's just putting bandaids on a wound that's far too big. What we need is a filter system. I hate having to block all tells because I do receive a good number of them from legitimate players who aren't in my FC and aren't on my friends list. And I really don't want to miss out on having a good run with a new player just because Wsgtrsnu Gnujiewsl wouldn't leave me alone.

I tend to think the FFXIV Dev Team is probably actually pretty small compared to most AAA titles', which honestly might not be a bad thing: the end product is smoother and stronger, but they only have so many resources they can devote to a given project. So say something like right-click to report takes 40 man-hours of dev time. A bigger dev team can devote five developers to that and get it knocked out in a single work day (40/5/8 = 1). But a smaller dev team might could only devote two developers, which would take two and a half work days (40/2/8 = 2.5). Now, when you look at it, something like this is a relatively simple thing. It probably wouldn't take that much work to develop and test. But if they have a small team (with a lot of requirements), then it may be a lower-priority task, as they need to be very conscious of how they're budgeting their time.

So in the end, if it's a small dev team, then it makes a lot of sense why it takes so long for seemingly simple things like this to be implemented.

I also wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they're being held back by the PS3 dev kit.

I know they are creating new accounts all the time, so it wouldn't solve the problem, but this would cause them to burn through accounts faster at least.

Have it when you blacklist someone, blacklist their entire account rather then just a single character.

Ignoring the fact that there is more to report than just RMT.

Controlling who you receive tells from AND getting a right click->Report functionality would effectively neuter RMT in this game. The former would just annihilate /tell RMT spam entirely (especially if that setting had a few options like Everyone/Friends List/Free Company/Linkshell), and the latter when combined with blacklist would suck all power away from the annoying wastes of space who park their lv1 characters by market boards and spam in /say. Only real concern then would be friend requests.

To my knowledge, SE's only response has been copy pasta about what the STF does.

Really because if I am ignoring that fact, then you are ignoring the fact that there are only 3 STF members working on banning the RMT and even if you do report them, they aren't going to ban them faster than they can create.

You are still going to see spam regardless of the report button and just like the old report button its gonna get old fast.

Because by the time 3 of them check out the details of that RMT to ban them and go to the next 3 those 3 have already made 3 more characters.

Best option is what I said earlier if you can silence them they will vanish its the only way.

People say that report button will work, it didn't work in FFXI and we had more GM support there it kept going until SE made a filter and even region blocked, A lot of people reported back in FFXI and still couldn't get them to vanish is my point.

When you people say oh this will work no its not gonna work you guys go for a temp fix and not a solution and silencing them is better the filter in ffxi silenced them and guess what they vanished I hardly even seen them.

What was left of the RMT bot groups were slowly dying off and eventually were gone.

its gonna turn like league of legends community, you'll get reported for anything and most stupid reasons :p

Yeah invisible was great, nobody could see if you were on friends list, nobody could send you invites.

Nobody would know you were on unless you sent them a tell or seen you in the LS.
