A3S timing difference between JP and NA?

Recently my group has been pushing to try to compete with the fastest A3S kill time. On more than one recorded attempt I noticed that the time of the fight and where we were at as far as mechanics was different. The fight is supposed to be completely time based with no forced phase pushes. So my question, is there a difference in timings because of the JP vs NA data centers or is there something else behind this? You have a summoner, they not. Maybe the slow effect of Shadow flare? I think the Scholar did not pop it during debuff up.

Yep, adds phase has no set duration (maybe some enrage if too long, but you'll be most likely will be killed by add reaching water). If you kill last 4 adds faster, last phase starts earlier.

I had both videos side by side and their mechanics just happen faster. It's not just the add phase and it wasn't just their video. When I compare to any JP kill vid of A3S the mechanics happen faster for them. When I compare to Elysium's kill vid our mechanics happen at the exact same time. It's not just the add phase. Same thing has happened when we've brought a BLM.

It seems off at first until you notice lucrezia's clock and the timer on the other video are out of sync, with the non lucrezia one being 4 seconds behind by the time the add phase starts. I dunno if that means the lucrezia one is being run at more than 100% speed or that the other one is at less than 100% though

They are both at normal speed. You can check the settings in the same place as the quality options. The only occasion of the times being really off is when nothing is happening because my timer stops. But when they are both going they're less than a second apart.

Just throwing this out there, but I don't think that TheMax1087 meant that YouTube wasn't playing at 100%. What if both videos were simply recorded differently? For example, if the frame rate was different for one of the recordings, it might end up being faster or slower when YouTube converts and optimises it. This happens all the time in the real world when 'NTSC' footage is converted to 'PAL' frame rates for European DVDs, resulting in video which gradually goes further and further out of sync with audio/subtitles unless those elements are adjusted too. The fact that you specifically noticed that they start off the same and gradually desync makes me think this is what could be happening here.

If everyone uses the exact same software and settings then this doesn't apply, but I'd guess some software packages default to different recording settings and it's not implausible some people would configure them differently.

I'll shut up now as I don't know the fight in question.

Wth are you looking at? The timers in ACT and Lucrezia's match. It's so obvious that the timers for abilities are getting farther apart the more you go into the fight. What are you even looking at?

I mean, even looking at my first picture shows how off the timings are for each instance. Our Cascade happens at that point 15 seconds after there's does.

Someone already explained that. While the first two and the last phase are on timers, the add phase isn't. You start your add phases at 3:05 and 3:06 respectively, and your group kills its first set of adds at 3:26, while lucrezia kills there's at 3:22. You kill your second set at 3:36 while lucrezia kills there's at 3:31, each set is killed slower than theirs, until there's a 15 second gap between you. The one thing I will say is that their first set of tethers spawned before yours, but that seems to imply the tether spawns when the first add dies rather than the first set.

Edit: looking at some other clears, it seems that last thing was correct, killing one of the first two adds causes the next set and the tethers to spawn earlier.

Clocks on the viewsync look the same with hax's stopping during downtime, which is just something ACT does. I wanna say lag, but mechanics are server-side so there shouldn't be anything like that.

Your transition into add phase happened at 3:03, theirs at 2:59. It looked like mechanics became more spread out over time. Add phase isn't as scripted and you can push it faster. You both had 14-15 seconds in between transition and cascade. They just pushed add phase faster to create the larger discrepancy. Some discrepancy was there before adds, though. I dunno. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I asked around about this yesterday. Some people say they've pushed the entire add phase faster. Some people say its just the last wave. What I know is last night we downed the last wave very quickly and sat waiting for transition. So no idea. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Whether or not it's a bug or lag that pushes it faster, it's definitely not rooted in dps.
