How come this isn't a thing?
Honestly, untill SE fixes tournaments, i'll skip on this. TT is fixed, Someone offered me 1kk yesterday to lose in the new vermillion thingy? Not sure how that works not even touched it yet, told him to f' off in any case.
But if its indeed the same as TT and they just threw it in like that.
I'll pass for sure.
It'd be more difficult to implement since everyone's chocobos have various levels and there'd be some cases of unfair matches.
It would have to be incredibly incentivized to get eight people in there at once without long queues. That's really the only way it would work because anything less than eight people and it's TT/LoV cheat-fest.
I just figured since it's DF based it would be harder to win trade than say TT.
I honestly don't care if it will be abused or not. Anything to encourage playing against other players and not just CPU opponents is a plus I think. I think maybe during the tournaments duration, there is some set times for races. You queue up for the tournament with a separate queue and all that make it race together (Or multiple races if we get like 12 people in the tournament race). Even if people buy wins, this shouldn't give anything amazing like rare chocobo skills or something, just more MGP for those at the top. So say something like this.
Chocobo Tornament Race Times:
Wednesday: 08:00, 08:07, 08:14
Thursday: 13:30, 13:37, 13:44
Friday: 08:00, 08:07, 08:14, 19:30, 19:37, 19:44, 22:00, 22:07
Saturday: 08:00, 08:07, 08:14, 08:21, 08:28, 13:30, 13:37, 13:44, 13:51, 13:58, 19:30, 19:37, 19:44, 19:51, 19:58, 22:00, 22:07, 22:14, 22:21, 22:28
Sunday: 08:00, 08:07, 08:14, 08:21, 08:28, 13:30, 13:37, 13:44, 13:51, 13:58, 19:30, 19:37, 19:44, 19:51, 19:58
I listed 49 different times, it should have the 30 races limit like other tournaments I think so you can't just no life and win because you were able to meet every race time. And maybe more times for those people between 22:00 and 08:00. But something like that would be great I think.
it's not really duty finder based. only people of your own server are matched with you. and it gets worse: you have to be at the chocobo square. so... you can take a look around. and if there is nobody else than you and your win trading partner there will be nobody else than you in the race too.
but it will be harder because of the NPC racers x)
x_x what would be the point of leveling the darn thing if you can't use it where it matters?
...I want a legitmate excuse for why I spent close to 1mil mgp on my racing chocobos... ..Please make a tourney, I am tempted to set up my own in the pf "100k to whoever can beat me in a chocobo race"
My chocobo is a max stat, pedigree 9, 300 rating chocobo... And it means nothing because there's no player racers D:
Thanks for the suggestion! We're looking into ways to adjust existing features such as chocobo racing, and breeding, as well as adding new features based on your feedback. So please keep it coming!
I lost interest in chocobo racing because leveling your chocobo was just such a grind for no reward. Just getting your first rank 40 chocobo takes weeks of grind. Could something be added to hasten this? Something like having racing chocobo exp added to the chocobo racing Challenge Log entries?
New courses would be awesome, on a somewhat regular basis...but they need to focus on fixing participation as well (new courses would help with that, of course). A real DF might help, tourneys might help, new achievement rewards might help...something to give it a purpose beyond, well...what there is now...
i want new courses too but...
the problem is: nobody will use that new course if it takes longer to finish the race than a race on sagolii. they have to change the reward depending on the lenght of the course. and also we need a new system wich remembers the last course you choosed. sagolii is not only the shortest, is also the course in the top place in the list where you choose the course. but not only that: many chocobos are not even able to finish a race on the longer courses because they don't have enough stamina for it.
the new course have to be shorter or the same lenght like sagolii or it will be dead on release...
I'm not sure you're using your chocobo correctly if you're running out of stamina regularly, on any course. I'm not trying to insult you, it's just that as far as I'm aware, that's not a common problem. I've raced a lot, by the way, on all three courses on all the difficulties.
That said...variation in any potential courses is a must, yes. Length, obstacles, item placement (and possibly item drop rate)...anything to spice it up. But in the end, they've kind of bound their hands with how the whole system works as it is. A complete rehaul might work, but...whether that's necessary is not for me to decide, though I don't think it is necessary. I wasn't saying that providing new courses would be the only solution, just to be clear, but rather an idea for the devs to think about among others.
i have an R300 chocobo with Headstart, Increased Stamina 3, 455 Speed (still one training lesson left, so i can bring him to 470), 500 Acceleration, 500 Stamina, 500 Endurance and uhm... Cunning is really bad xD i have just enough speed and stamina to stay on first place against the NPC's if i sprint from start to finish and just enough stamina to reach the finish line on tranquil paths if nothing bad happens and the weather is not against me. if i ever release the sprint button someone will overtake me... so, more speed? more speed leads to more stamina consumption.... and also less of any other stat if i go for 500 speed. exchange headstart for chocobo cure 3? i am noooot sure... xD

i also startet a topic on the german board about updates for the chocobo race, new courses, items, skills.... http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...m-Chocobrennen
and got an answer from one of the devs:
Lallalingo said they are working on adjustments for the chocobo-race and breeding and new features based on the feedback from the community.
and it will not take a long time.
Ah, I know just enough German to get the gist of that. Looking forward to seeing what they come out with.
