So now that a certain NPC's VA has changed...

It looks like Ser Aymeric reigns King Supreme as the sexiest voice in Eorzea.

Who changed? Aymerics has been the same I know.

But Aymeric's is the same, that is the point. His voice is now the sexiest.

I nominate 2.0 Lahabrea for Males and 2.0 Merlwyb for females as sexiest voice in Eorzea and Gideon Emery as sexiest overall.

The ARR voices for Lahabrea and Merlwyb were very good, I agree.

You see, this thread is pointless. Everyone knows that the WoL has the sexiest voice. That's the reason they never actually talk. If they did, the pure glory of it would cause time to stop forever simply so that all those who could hear them would get to live in that moment for all eternity.......

Well, if it's any consolation, the Japanese voices appear to be the same. It's regrettable but with the English actors not on contract they're going to be cycling voices... alot. It's probably why...

Like, if you want to build a consistant character that people can feel any kind of bond to, it would probably help to not change the voice entirely with every single patch o.O

I can't even imagine having to deal with that. I always had Japanese audio on and I think the voices are pretty much the same since day one.
My immersion would be so broken by constant re-casting of VAs.

Was never keen on his old voice to be honest. New one is ok but still meeeeh. I adore some of new voices though, totally love

Might be a stupid question, how would changing his voice to what it is currently appeal to a male audience?

Edit: looks like I misread that, his entire appearance and not just his voice. I think they were trying to "mature" him in a way though.

All these voice changes are a concern, I like that they got rid of some of the downright bad actors of 2.0, but now that we've got some decent ones will they continue on this? Are we going to get a new voice for Alphinaud every expansion pack now? I don't like Y'shtola new voice, sounds too stiff, but I'm sure the VA will improve given enough time. There was one scene where she sounded pretty good in the latest MSQ quests.

I can see your point in this regard, but as a man myself, he just comes off as more generic now, and less appealing as a character. If I was forming a party in a game, I'd take the old version over the new one without a second thought. I'm not saying the change from how he was before to how he is now can't be done, or can't be done well, but it needs to be something that happens a little more gradually. I will accept SE's reasons for why he changed, as they would understandably change anyone over time, but I think it could have been handled more smoothly.....

Thancred is a workaholic and Cid isn't. Thancred ran himself ragged trying to fill in for Lusiaux while Cid never shows up for work at his own business.

the only voices that weren't changed in 3.0 I think were Ser Aymeric, Lucia, Yugiri, and Hauchefant.

He reminds me of a dirty-faced hobo with ratty hair and ill-fitting mismatched clothing. that said, I wouldn't mind so much if the new voice actor wasn't so bland. he's taken all the appeal out of my favorite character.

Odd, the VA did an interview a while back on Gamer Escape and he said he knew about the HW plot which seemed to imply that he was still around.

He was probably on his way out. Actors who aren't vested in a project anymore have a tendency to be rather loose-lipped about what they worked on.

To be fair, Cid is usually neglecting his business because he's working on some pet project. It isn't like he's kicking up his heels waiting for us to come to him with another world saving project.

Though yes, Thancred has a history of working WAY too hard.

Have to say I was very disappointed hearing Raubahn with a new VA. The old one really did his character justice and made you fear him. New one just really doesn't do him justice.

I was wondering about this too - at one point in the interview, when asked about his favorite lines, he says most of his favorites were in the expansion so he couldn't talk about them, which would imply that they had him voice his lines and still had someone else come in and replace him later on.
