So what's the point of weekly lockouts again?

Right out of the Gate: The weekly Lockouts should be removed.
I understand why they were set in place in the first place but with things like the diadem they just don't make any sense anymore. You can get like a full i210set in a week if you're really hardcore and a bit lucky while you need MONTHS! to equip fully through Alexander Savage while that content is way harder.

After our first Try in Diadem while we didn't even knew what we were doing we already got a 210piece and we wasted a LOT of time exploring and when you get more experienced you can get that number up significantly, I'm sure.

I didn't even clear Alexander Savage fully by now and think this isn't right (to be clear I like the Diadem and it's drops but SE should just remove weekly lockouts.... if we can get gear that fast already, let us choose how we get it and put some interesting stats on it other than our typical secondaries)

How do oyu think about this situation?

Its only there so people don't finish all the content in a patch in a week then quit. But yea with the new Diadem place you can deck out in all 210 if lucky in a few weeks lol.

Diadem is a new expensive feature and they tried hard to make it popular, or it'd die again in 2 weeks like old choco races. How could they achieve that? Only with i210 gear which is not weekly locked (or people would not spam it after the first drop). That said, Void Ark weelky lockout makes no sense now indeed, it drops trash comparing to Diadem and I will run it only for i210 upgrade item once a week (assuming I'll not upgrade every eso piece I have with Hunts before that).

It's there for the sake of content pacing. It'd take me, say, several weeks to get fully geared up via esoterics for example, but some guy with a ton of free time would do it in a couple of days, then complain about how he has nothing to do while I'm still happily chipping away at my to-do list.

In the context of raiding, it's there to sort of stagger loot distribution (because of loot being obtainable once per week per boss). The alternative to this would be stupidly low drop rates (like 1-2%).

anybody read what I wrote? I already said I KNOW why it was in place. But it makes no sense whatsoever if Diadem just kills the content pacing by dropping i210 wiithout lockouts.

Right. Instead, people will farm Diadem for a week, be full i210, wonder why they'd do anything else because the rewards suck in comparison, and unsub.

Let's face it, with how Savage is scaled most people will never even get to see Living Liquid till A3S goes into DF.

Diadem is a catch-up mechanism, just like Void Ark. Nothing more and nothing less.

Honestly, my static is all doing Thordan/Void Ark/Diadem to allow us to progress further in Savage. *shrugs*

There's at least some people that still want to clear it even if we can get BiS gear from RNGesus on a skybiscuit.

i guess i'm just tired of the constant catchup. I think the game would be much more satisfying if gear would stop at a certain ilvl and instead would get dirfferent tertiary stats like "+5% damage against sahagin" so you can carry altgear for different situations (a bigger armoury chest would be a must too then)

You know what was the real sub killer?
Leaving a majority of raid population with only A1S and A2S for the whole season resulted in a lot of lost subs because people got bored/gave up on A3S.
At least you can grind Diadem till 3.2 to get all pieces with perfect stat distribution.

I def don't think they should kill the lock out and on top of that Diadem is all RNG some ppl can only run it with randoms

Sure you can get an i210 piece from a gold chest, but it can be any of the 62 different Mistbreak pieces and their secondary stats are completely RNG.

You have around 1.64% chance of getting any specific slot when a Mistbreak piece drops and the piece can have anywhere between 2 single digit and 4 maxed out secondaries. Eso and Gordian pieces are very reliable on the other hand.

Relying on the Diadem makes it so that you are completely at the whim of the RNG.

After two days into the patch, im really a bit confused on that.

Void Ark get´s to a one time a week, just for the upgrade item, only guys going in there repeadetly are hardcore glamourfreaks.
Alex normal gets a wasteland i guess, even with disabled loot lockout, who cares anymore for 190 stuff, ...
Alex Savage gets quite big question mark on it... the story don´t thrills me, the gear doesnt look as good as CoB, i don´t wear it with pride like that CoB stuff and well, you got a highly questionable PUG content that drops equal gear, that brought everything Hunts are bad for into a big instanced region.
...and with Relic around, the Alex Weapon will get obsolet soon.

And Esos are just, meh.,...

Whole Patch feels like a little filler just for bringing people to i210 on all classes (bringing back the "you can play everything on once character" mantra) for their next Patch... which feels a bit slim after waiting so long.

Somehow, the main focus of 3.1 seems to be a pokemon minigame...

I see many people leaving the game, or just coming on for the weekly raid more forced that fun.

Seems like the 2.0 Balloon looses pressure over and over... very sad...

But they could really turn this around. Diadem is a nice way to get gear, i don't question that, but stop that insane gear-spiral. get slower on ilvl increases. Invent new interesting stats for new gear instead of just boosting the ilvl that much that it's a given that it's the best gear out there and everything else obsolete i mean how much gear is out there that's basically not even worth it to keep in the code?!

Sadly, there's only 2 stats in this game...
- Item Level
- Glamour
Everything else is just 10% of illusion stats.

I totally agree, they need to do something to add some horizontal progression.

The other sad thing is the more I here about FF XI (from friend) the more it looks far better on this point (itemization)

Two things:
1. So you do not complete your objectives to fast and finish the content, before the new patch.
2. To slow you down, so you keep playing for a longer time. The longer you play, the more months you pay subscription.

This is why F2P games do not face these issues, instead there they have decreased the droprate of items and increased difficulty of the mobs. This way the player is forced to buy stuff from their cash shop to progress.

In the end the goal is to get as much money out of your bank account.

I actually don't see an insane gear spiral.
From fresh level 60 to Alex/Eso, was maybe a bit much. Starting with ~145 to 200 and with 3.15 to 210 for a small playerbase. But to be honest, 3.1 didn't raised the maximum ilvl and the Relic Weapon will surely be around 205/210. Means we will see the first Ilvl increase with 3.2 around February/March 2016, that's 8-9 month with maximum ilvl of 200-210.

Sadly this won't happen until Yoshi P stops fearing the excluded from content reason by not having xyz gear. Aren't we already excluding people by being able to set any item lvl we want in PF? Sadly this is why people are now saying glamour is real end game...... Please add reall horizontal gearing Yoshi P.


If they just added horizontal gearing they won't have to put so much new gear in every patch there by cut down on stuff there by puting it into new content.

I'm coming from a time where gear was relevant for YEARS! and we still had years of content to do... for me the 6 month gear reset is insane (yes it's 9 months this time, but it will be back to 6 months after that, as yoshi said they return to 3 months a big patch)

Maybe if they change the drop system in weekly raids a bit, so they can bring it without a lockout.
Like reducing gear in chests down to 5% chance and add dark matter 6 to the chests with 95% chance.

weekly lockout or RNG (like Diadem), choose your poison.

So you want horizontal progression? Well unfortunately for you, you'll have to find a different MMO, because the way they've made things, they're not changing it. Max iLvl or bust

They could also make the bosses A4 Savage difficult with a 1-2% drop rate and no weekly lockout.

Lockouts always been a cancer to any game. Its the most frustrating system you can have on a game because it prevents the players to play as they wish. It should have never been implemented and i hope it'll go away but sadly they wont remove it.

Sadly people chase carrots. And a certain sub group of people with plenty of time on their hands would be done with the game within a week once something is farm-able. The lockout encourages people to try different things than just focusing on improving combat ability.

I'm a little tired of the weekly lockout and caps and I am a new-ish player. Joined only a couple months ago. Forced end game content pacing as regards iLvl makes it feel more like a chore to do every day/week, instead of just logging in to play and do what I would like to. To-do lists and caps just feel tedious and restrictive. Not really enjoying it. Love playing with friends in the FC and LS though. I just feel if there were more end game raids and options caps and lockouts could be lifted and things would be so much better.
