Shield Bash turned into an AOE attack.

Shield Bash
Delivers an attack with a potency of 120 to all enemies in a cone before you.
Additional Effect: Interrupt (Status Effect) Duration: 0.1s
Enhanced Shield Bash: Shield bash also increases enmity.

This way it is still a useful as an interrupt but also an AOE attack as well. This would be extremely useful to the Paladin's toolkit.

If you did something like this due to diminishing returns Paladin would go from having the best stun of 3 tanks to having the worst stun, and one holy would make the stun go down to resisted. This would trickle into PvP and any content like dreadknights where chain stunning is a good thing. =/

Nice thought though, just wouldn't work to change the existing shield bash.

How about this then? A new status effect that isn't effected by stun's diminishing returns?

It basicly interrupts casting.

The main point of shield bash is to be a stun though.

For interrupts, you already have Spirit Within (silence, counters casts), and Shield Swipe (granted, proc dependant. Removed from GCD though so yay) for pacification, cancelling any cast or any ability (most bosses are immunized though. meh)

Yeah, but interrupt could be made to work on bosses as well. It would give Paladins a way to survive big magical attacks. Maybe interrupting it can lesson its damage.

You "interrupt" the spell, so it still casts but its damage is reduced by 25-30%.

Paladins needing a spammable stun is cool, but questionable. What they really are starving for is a good AOE attack.

I dunno maybe it'd be better to just allow paladin to cross class overpower? I'm not sure how that would be balance wise. But it'd do basically the same as what you're asking minus the AoE spell interrupt which isn't really needed.

A more elegant solution would be to add a small damage component to Flash. Let's examine Overpower & Unleash, in comparison to Flash.

Overpower:

If a 110 Potency amount was added to Flash (for PLD only, via a trait), that would really solve PLD AoE issues.

Eh, i don't think this is a good idea honestly and I am totally in favor or altering PLD's to fix them. But the biggest issue with Shield Bash I see is that it's on our GCD. We HAVE to interrupt our combo's AND we have to wait for the cooldown if we happened to of just used something when an AoE pops up. Wouldn't mind if it added to enmity.

Shield swipe would be a good candidate for a frontal cone attack for PLD, and it already has limits on it's usage since it has to be proc'd, and doesn't interrupt combo's. Also the motion of a swipe suggests being able to clout more than one target, where as shield bash is more specifically a single target sort of action.

No thanks. I don't want to stun entire mob packs for one cast on one mob, in case the others also have casts.

This would basically be as selectively useful as half of our other skills right now.

What about a Shield Swipe front cone with a 40% chance of pacification on any target in range?

I think a trait to give flash damage for GLD/PLD only would be fine. As long as it doesn't mess with the cross classed version.
