From the blog looks like there are weapons and a hairstyle too ?
I can definitely use some of those pieces, considering that they're dyable.
I don't know if it would go that far. I honestly love a lot of the gear designs in XIV. But we've got a lack of Japanese-style gear compared to FFXI (there were a ton of MNK/SAM/NIN sets there), so I'm always ecstatic when we get some. I would kill for them to bring the Arhat's set over to FFXI as a crafted set (as they did with Koenig and...whatever the DRG one was, in the i110 gear).
Hopefully these are dyable, I foresee getting a lot of use out of them if they are.

=( It looks good but I was expecting a more iconic gear (from other NPC and no a new one).
I wasn't the biggest fan of Iroha, but the armor is nice looking. I also agree that I was expecting one of the more iconic armors. Or even something like a manteel, that style Naja Salaheem wears. That would fit decently in with the lore as well.
As a person that plays mages as their preferred main, I am happy that I'll finally have armored gear to glamour.
Here's hoping they'll be a bit more adventurous in the mage gear department rather than robes
A headband!
*fanfare*
that ribbon kills it D:
Many traditional Japanese coats have ties in the front like that.

On topic, I really hope the set is dyeable.
This event gonna make me cry, I played ff11 for 7 years only quit due to my second 360 dieing. ; ;
I miss the the characters on there Like Nana mhigo and the star oinion brigade, the star syball, what thwey should do is make all the hairstyles from all the big npc and put them in this game (i could kill to have shantatto hair or even nana mhigo, id love to see prince trions hair on a few guys) Or bring over some gear sets like the ff11 monk af, or even the rangers af. Id also kill for the ff11 rdm af.
The gear looks great! I really hope we can get that hairstyle too! :o /drool
Maybe the headband but other then that don't seem me using the gear that much if at all.
What's wrong with a headband? I mean, people complain about hairstyles with headwear as part of the style. Here we are with headwear not part of a style and complaints?... I don't get it.
Pretty cool! Will we get this event in NA and EU long after Japan?

I wouldn't take the JP Blog's early post as an indication of availability. It takes them a while to get the blog updated for other languages. This is an international MMO so it will launch worldwide (outside of China and South Korea due to their versions being actual different versions).
You mean this ?

Iroha has descended from the future where the world has been consumed, and she is on a mission to save Vana'diel from its current path to destruction - naturally, with the help of adventurers!
YOU HAD ONE JOB, TENZEN.Quote:
The equipment definitely has a very eastern feel to it
ONE JOB.
He's just one man, ONE MAN! One MORTAL man! There's no telling if he's even alive in Iroha's time!
So, thats what yoshida have ment with "Samurai"...
Does that mean the rumors about new job was not real?
Then what about red mage and blue mage he have said??
I doubt it is dye-able because that is how Iroha looks.
I hope we can store the gear in the chest cause my retainers are so full.
I'm not understanding what you're asking. This is just a special crossover event to celebrate the end of FFXI and the armor is just vanity gear based on something a character from the game wore. It has nothing to do with whether or not we get Samurai here in FFXIV or any other new class in the future, including both Red and Blue Mage.
Yes, it is just a crossover, but the character it's featuring IS a Samurai. In XI Samurai can use katana (or great katana in English), longbows and certain spears. That does leave the red and blue mage reference hanging, but nothing in the anniversary event promised new classes so for all we know red and blue mage could be another reference to a future event. We just don't know.
Really, IMO this looks quite boring to me..
exept blue mage was never mentioned that player that talk of it, Samurai and Red mage are the only jobs Yoshida did talk of it.
one as a job he want to bring (red mage) and the other as a jobs they had to choose between it and dark knight (samurai)
the thing, is they was thinking people will not want Samurai, but he was amazed by the reaction of the community accross the world about the samurai we can easily guess that it did make them decide to add it sooner than thinking.
Actually, while Yoshida did allude to Samurai, two non-interactable dev NPCs talking to eachother were discussing about colors with one favoring red and the other blue. This is where the Red Mage and Blue Mage speculation stems from. Noone specifically said Red Mage nor Blue Mage. It's all just speculation, but word of mouth tends to evolve as it passes on until it ultimately becomes nothing like was originally said.
Append: Okay, another handy thread corrected me. Yoshida did mention Red mage. Though there's still the two talking about red and blue so there's still that.
Actually, the Yoshida NPC mentioned specifically Samurai and Red Mage as possible future jobs. Blue Mage however was speculated from what you said

It wasnt from that event, but true, there he said it too...
I am not sure if it was on a live letter or just in an interview, i guess it was from an interview...
There he talked about new jobs but he did not go into details...
Well that sucks... I get that Iroha is like the last important NPC in the story, but there are a LOT more important and memorable NPCs in FFXI that had much more interesting outfits. I'm hoping there's a more proper FFXI crossover event somewhere down the line that would incorporate more of the iconic elements of FFXI, because otherwise, this is a really lackluster crossover for what should be a big event/ending.
