I dunno, it may be a little cliche, but a grieving parent making a terrible choice in the heat of the moment that comes back to bite them is a fantasy storytelling staple.

So.. the impression is they said they could bring his son back for a price but is really an Ascian now, because they grabbed his soul out of the life cycle and sent it to Ascian purgatory. Where he becomes the warrior of darkness only to be eventually sent back into the life stream by our hand. Leaving the unsettling notion that the ascians can and will bring out dead allies/scions back as corrupted enemies?

I think the second one is literally just someone making a similar looking character, wearing similar gear, standing in front of the entrance to the Chrysalis that appeared in the Solar (Rising Stones) during the 2.5 main scenario quest...

First one also being a shop of one of the scenes at the end of 2.55...

The last one of the three looks horribly shopped though.

It isn't a 1:1 situation, but they've brought back what, two characters from the "dead" now? All it would be is a cheap and poorly written "plot twist" to get people to care about the storyline because some people like the character, to get a reaction out of people. That's not even mentioning the fact that they've pulled this exact same thing, except with someone who was still alive.

Yeah, I'm sure this has any chance at all of being real.

The first picture looks very photoshopped indeed.

Also, do official screenshots have that watermark at the bottom left? I know our screenshots do, but I don't think I've seen any on the dev blog or lodestone with it.
