HQing mats with NQ mats.

How do you HQ mats, like Mythrite Rivets, with all NQ mats? I can HQ a piece of gear similar to my level with NQ mats, but not while trying to craft a mat. I can't find any videos on it because every video I see if 1, 2, 3, 4 Star crafting guides and power leveling guides. Can someone please help me? If I can HQ mats with NQ mats, it'll be easier to HQ actual items. Please and thank you.

To HQ Adamantite rivets (or nuggets), you need pretty high stats, including CP. So without knowing what yours are, it's hard to answer the question.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but hqing the components has never been an easy task unless you are higher level than it. all of the 40 durability ones suck

there is one i found that kinda works, but its by no means an actual guarantee to get the HQ

i open with all the usuals, CZ and IQ, then hit CS2 a couple times (bringing the recipe within 1-2 hits of CS2 completing the recipe) PbP can be substituted in as well. hit every ToT you possible can, the more you hit, the better the success rate of HQ

use masters mend at 10/5 durability every time
and use SH2 and HT. still priority the ToT and CZ when possible. also try to save at least 100cp for the final touch and finish

im not sure if its the exact same as his method, mainly since i been tweaking my crafting rotations to match more with what i am used to for crafting, but the basic idea is from mithrie menethil

In Chapter 46 of my crafting guide, I have listed how we can utilize Manipulation for making 40 durab or 35 durab items.

The method was similar to how we did it for our Lucis Tools in patch 2.5. We old school crafters had foreseen how Manipulation would shine for 40 durab items way back in ARR (before May 2014). And indeed, Manip came into play when 3 star 40 durab items were release for Lucis acquisition.

At the end of Chapter 46, I have also listed a few macros there. If you have sufficient stats, you can 1-button autocraft these items easily. (And those macros use ZERO HASTY TOUCHES. If you lack some stats, you may not reach 100% HQ rate, but even at 80%+ Isn't bad if you can do them with 1 or 2 buttons)

Well... that rotation in the video works, but it's rather unrefined... Master's Mend uses 92 CP. One could have used Manipulation instead, and it would save 4 CP. Notice how we actually need to use this recovery method for approximately 3 times. So it's basically 12 CP saved. Also, in the video, SH II was used for the final Byregot phase, which was unnecessary. One could have used SH instead, and it would have saved another 3 CP. So at least 15 CP could have been saved if the rotation was polished a bit more.

Just keep in mind that we rarely want to reduce durability to 10 or 5 before using Manipulation, as your next touch will consume durability before Manip replenishes it. Thus, One should usually use Manip at 20 or 15 durability.

Even if the level of the item is above your level, NQ mats is fine provided that your gear is good enough to make up for your deficiency in levels (like starred master recipes). If you're under-geared, you'll have trouble even getting 50% no matter how good your rotation is. As for a workable rotation, I've found that a hasty touch and manipulation spam works well enough.

I normally try to stay away from relying too much on CS2. It's rng free, but if you end up up having to use it 4 or more times, you'll struggle to HQ your item. For a 40 durability recipe, you really want to complete progress in 2 or 3 steps only, so I normally use RS and a single CS2 (or 2 shots of CS2 if my craftsmanship isn't high enough; alternatively ingenuity 2 can be used to reduce it to 1 CS2).

Once your craftsmanship and/or level is high enough, you can complete progress on a 40 durability item with 2 shots of CS2, eliminating the need for RS.

This, it's pure gear check really. For Mythrite, Rainbow, Archaeornis the magic number is 500 craftsmanship. That will reduce you to one CSII to complete. The rotation from 2.00 using basic touch kicks in and HQ from NQ. Higher up I don't know if you can ever break free of the RnG without over kill penta melding.

agreed. i dont understand how a company can consider RNG content, i understand they are trying to make it "lasting" content, but im sure if they actually think about it, it should be possible to do it without 15 levels of RNG

Or bust ass on your desynth level, auto synth multiple items with the nq mats, then break the items and pray to RNGesus for hq mats to drop, make rivets from said hq mats. usually I find its a 5:1 on desynths:hq mats, plus all those sweet demis for resale.

The rng involved with crafting itself is fine especially since crafts are far more forgiving than they used to be. On the other hand, desynths and especially overmelds are as aggravating as ever.

I prefer RNG over 1 scripted method to do everything. If prima or Brady games published a strategy guide that showed you how to 100% every aspect of this game is unsubscribe in a heartbeat. But that's just me, I personally don't like that way because why would I spend money to only do what every single other person does exactly how they do it? it already bites my ass how all endgame combat is like that and if you deviate even slightly from the "grand script" you can't kill stuff.

I wouldn't mind RnG if it wasn't such a long road to fail. Pick a random set of gear, scratch build it, have 2 pieces or more come out NQ and ask if its worth it to have your name on something instead of just getting someones yard sale quest reward for a tenth of what it costs you to make it.
