My personal problem with fishing is how tedious it is of a gathering source for anything. The uses of -fish- for the most part are limited to culinarian, alchemist, and goldsmith, but if you're trying to harvest a larger amount of a specific item you're left fishing for hours on end trying to get even a stack of a certain catch. Botanist and Miners have it different however, Botany has Blessed Harvest I and II, Miner gets King's Yield I and II.
Miner and Botany also get a secondary weapon/tool; Where's fishing's offhand net?

Above is a comparison to the amount of skills available to fishing in comparison to miner and botany, the other gathering classes. I use this as reference to show there is plenty of room to add a netting system or skill-set.

Fishing used to do spearfishing in 1.0 and was almost on par with the other DoL classes. In 2.0 they decide to make fishing more like a hobby to enjoy and relax, more like real fishing.

Real fishing only gets you more of the same kind if you fish with a net (which you want but we only have rods) and if you get lucky enough to find a school of certain fish. I doubt we'll ever see that tho, but i'd really like a multi-hook line so i could catch 3-4 fish at a time, like yield+ on other DoL :/ -

As I said, they made fisher in 2.0 at a means to relax not to fish massive amount of fish in a short time. Also your list on fishing actions looks outdated or incomplete, we have Chum that drastically shorten the waiting time, Patience and Patience II to use the Hookset action to catch more HQ, and Fish Eye to get other "hidden fish". If you just want a skill or something to catch 3 fish at the same time with a rod you take out the real part of fish in my opinion. Although i would say that I want spearfishing back to use as an offhand.

I'm pretty sure that MNR/BOT/FSH Main hand all have identical stats now. I do not have the scrips rod yet, so that may be different but I'm pretty sure in ARR a L28 fishing rod had more stats on it than a pickaxe of the same level.
Again, if I'm wrong let me know but I almost swear that's how it was and they either forgot to up the stats for FSH MH in HW or the just reduced it down to be equal to the other DoL I assume because they lowered how much perception/gathering we need for 'unspoiled' fish to be more in line with the change to our main hands. -
