I'd like to add the Buy Back Feature to things to improve game play. After going a little crazy on inventory clean out and selling wanted items the ability to re-procure them would be a nice touch.

I would agree on this, though this has never happened to me a few LS members have raged when they accidence sold an item due to lag.
I agree a buyback function would be a nice touch i cant count how many items i have sold by accident because the interface is slow when selling items
Or even being able to lock certain items so you cant sell them untill you unlock them
:o
I have only accidentally sold something I didn't want to once, and it hasn't happened to me since. This feature isn't really necessary, in my opinion. If players are careful when selecting on things to sell, then you'll be fine. Not surprising that there aren't more replies either, out of 32 views or so.
Yep, would be good. I wouldn't define it a priority, but still good if they manage to cram it in some future patch.
There is already an open thread about this, in which I pointed out a problem with selecting items with the mouse. I'd rather have that issue fixed first. Preventing is better than healing.

If we got rid of everything that wasn't "needed" the game would be in a worse state than when it was released. This feature definitely should be implemented. The whole system of how the game deals with items is flawed anyway. Try opening a faction NM chest with a full inventory for example, or doing a quest like CRP 30 and unexpectedly getting an item reward with a full inventory. Not so much a problem now but inventory used to be a huge issue. It's all in the category of making the user experience better, something that always needs to be considered when developing a piece of software. If it isn't, people stop using it.
Now first of all let me just start by saying I agree with Lissandra. This thread has basically spoken one thing to me. Laziness. I do not see how it is the game's fault because you were too lazy in sorting your inventory? Too lazy to take the time needed to navigate through the lag? To me it sounds like a bunch of whining, and I'm truly sorry for stating my opinion. Everyone makes mistakes, but you need to learn from them instead of whining for a do-over. YOU take the first step.
It is the game's fault that when I clicked on Moko Grass and the clickie-animation occurred on the Moko Grass line item, that when the actual "Sell" confirmation came up, it registered as if the click occurred three lines lower, where my mouse happened to be hovering once it did finally come up.
Is it my fault for not ultimately confirming the item? Sure. But it's already taking me far longer than it should to sell off junk (also the game's fault), and doubling that time to verify that the box that comes up corresponds to the line that I know for a fact I clicked isn't appealing.
How about if they give *us* the buyback, and you just don't use it when the game causes you to unintentionally sell off a piece of high-level gear.
Playing wow i have to say it the best thing ever allowing you to buy a item back i agree on.
Haha! I have no problem with you, but man you're still whiney. You're talking to someone who bought stuff back on FFXI for 1,000x what they're going for. It makes no difference to me, it's not my real money. I once bought a stack of flint stones for 3,000,000 gil when they were selling for 3,000 gil. It was a mistake.....So I should blame SE for my mistake? No! My fault! Take the blame, kid, and please stop whining.
I'll also tell you a good story! I once bought 4 Hagun's for 500,000 gil each after an update, and later sold them back to the community for 3,000,000 gil each! Yay! Happy story!
The question is, will you be buying it back for the price you sold it for or not. I wouldn't mind this being implemented if you had to pay a bit more money to get it back. Yeah, you can saying something a stereotypical FFXI player would say, I wouldn't blame you lol. I just think that you should have to pay a bit more out of pocket to get your item back. Teach us to slow down and pay attention when clearing out inventory. I've sold stuff by accident on FFXI and it sucks, but I just get over it and learn from my mistakes.
Unbelievable. Haha! I tell you straight in your face that it's your fault, and you complain to me it's not? Then another one come's in, says basically what I'm saying, and also adds a consequence to the feature you want, and you agree? Funny. This thread is dead. My negativity probably is the sole cause of it staying alive.
I still don't see how this feature would hurt the game. Regardless of human error or the current buggy sale system, I can't see a valid argument for its exclusion...
Okay. Now this is just a theory. But let's say we go ahead and implement this into the game. You will go up and try to buy a certain piece of gear for 450k. Now wait a minute. You see everyone else now buying the same piece for 300k, and you want to get your many back. Is that fair to the other guy for having to put up the gear again and pay taxes because you wanted the gil back? The same can go for selling gear. A do-over for you, means more cost for others.
Also, what would happen if that guy who sold the gear for 450k ended up spending it all on some other materials. How in the hell would it look that he goes -450,000 gil? Seems awfully stupid to me. How will you get back gil that isn't in his possession anymore?
I see.
A "buyback system" is generally understood to mean NPC-only transactions. There's no way that an automated PC-to-PC buyback system would or even could be put into place.
Yup.. I sold my hermit shoes accidentally because my mouse jumped down while i was npc'ing things. i didn't notice it right away and obviously it was my own fault (felt like a fool).
I really wish they would have a buyback feature, since no one could help me get those shoes back (GM/online assistance)
Anyway, I'm super careful now :P
sold my Weevil *1 bow by accident, when cleaning inventory, was quite painfull as i used all my csh to get it. thats why i sign under buyback with both my hands, feet, and tentacles
+1 for a buyback feature!
I did this in FFXI once with my Rajas Ring.. had to wait a month to get it back. Not experienced it in FFXIV but I know how ANNOYING it is when it happens.
Would definitely be a simple, useful and awesome thing to add to the game. :)
SIGNED!!
Buy back, can i have it? yes please
This is one of those little things that would be nice to have most of the time and absolutely priceless to have when you really need it.
I'd love to see this implemented.
Ah. Now I see. I'm sorry, but I thought you were wanting this for the Market Wards as well. Forgive me for this. On that note, being able to buy back from an NPC Merchant I can totally agree with.
Also on a side note. If you want this thread taken with any consideration as far as the development team is concerned. I'd highly recommend placing a dev tag on this since it still doesn't have one.
