Please consider adding FF11's level 30 race specific gear
-
Well, the thing is, there is no actual gameplay reason for RSE in FFXIV, as in FFXI each player race had both statistical strengths and weaknesses (tarutaru had the highest INT and MP but lowest HP, elvaan had the highest MND and STR but low INT, galka had the highest HP and def but lowest MP etc etc), and so the stats on RSE was specifically designed to compensate for those weaknesses (tarutaru RSE for instance had massive HP boosts), so it was the gear of choice for those who wanted to play 'unorthodox' characters (as in, Jobs that race was not really suited for stat wise, like a taru tank). Because humes had balanced stats (not excelling in anything but having no real weakness either), each piece of RSE had both stat boosts and stat reductions - equipping the whole set balanced out the reductions and gave only minimal boosts to compensate.
As the stat differences between the races in FFXIV however are trivial at best and virtually non existent by level 60, all hypothetical RSE would be good for in FFXIV would be glamour, and given it's just pallete swapped starting armour, a better option would be to make the existing starting gear dyeable.
So basically, RSE is one of those FFXI-peculiar things that due to FFXIV's design has no real need to be added here.
EDIT: Annnnd, I really should not skim read - I just realized the OP actually wants the appearence of FFXI's RSE to be added to FFXIV - which, as much as I liked my skimpy 'savage' gear, again it wouldn't work here, for one simple reason. FFXIV now has six races not five, and two races would not have any attire for one gender (male miqo'te and female roegadyn would miss out). As we're already seeing players complaining about gender-specific gear in the game, I really don't see FFXI's RSE being added.
Instead, I'd love to see more general FFXI gear designs added - Koenig's set (the wootz gear) and that Aht Uhrgan piece that I can't remember the name for showed this is indeed a possibility. :p
-
Can't hit the like button enough. The "starter" gear in this game is way to simplistic/the same to be racial gear, Au Ra aside, and not to mention unable to be dyed. I'd be down with having these again for my Elezen and Miqo'te.
-
-
That elvaan male terrified me
-
I'm for anything race specific. It's nice to see some varied outfits.
-
These all look terrible and race-specific clothes are always annoying (not to mention completely illogical since there's absolutely no reason any pc's clothes couldn't be fitted for someone of a different build since they're all humanoids as demonstrated with most armor in the game).
-
I'm fine with it if they aren't race locked in this game. I'd love to be able to wear the Elvaan F RSE on my highlander!
-
Aww man I miss my elvaan RSE. It was stylish.

Haha. Just for glamour and nostalgia purposes. But I would like them to maintain the race specific part. Come on, aren't we tired of looking like everyone else? Almost everyone with money is wearing the company tabard. And it's bad enough they're giving the Elezen sit pose to Miqote men. Can't we have a little distinction?
-
I'm all for more race-specific gear (among other things). I feel like it adds a nice tiny bit of much needed flavor to the game in place of something like separate cities for each race . I get why people aren't fans of it, but there is literally hundreds upon hundreds of universallly available items to equip. A handful of race-specific items is harmless in the grand scheme of things.

Honestly I've never had anyone wear the same outfit as me, and I'm not exactly the pinnacle of creativity.
Why does anyone care what other people are wearing?
-
You would have to make few more sets for other races but hey would be pretty cool.
add it to the treasure hunts and it would give me something to do.

Because glamour is true endgame

SE should just make the default RSE dyeable and call it a day.

I want race specific gear for lore reasons. Your race generally grows up in the area 14 specifies, so seeing different outfits that reflect those areas would be a nice touch. Think of it like Grand Company gear, I like stuff along those lines :X

the cultures and designs could easily vary between races....and they do in FFXIV...race specific gear in this game is not at all illogical.

"Can I have this Roegadyn style clothing fitted for me? I like the design."
"Absolutely not! Impossible! Unthinkable!"
"oh...okay. Well, can you fit this thousand year old armor clearly made for a male elezen for me?" (DRG and tank sets from the Aery if you're wondering)
"Easy!"
Yes, so logical. Makes perfect sense.

The outfits existing would be one thing but them being race-locked is still incongruous because of what I said above. Also in my case, Miqo'te are spread around quite a bit and there's a major settlement in southern Thanalan for Seekers, but there are also quite a few in La Noscea. Keepers are scattered around quite a bit, too, even if the Shroud has several. So I'm not sure what "the area 14 specifies" is supposed to mean. Furthermore, the game implies that your character comes from outside Eorzea in the beginning, so I question that notion in its entirety.

I'm with the first person that responded to this thread. RSE served a purpose - to counteract your racial penalties. Those don't exist. But! How about not just race specific gear (glamour purposes) but race and...what do they call it... species-specific gear? Like how there are highland hyur and...lowland hyur. And miqote of the sun and moon? How about ones specific to each race/gender/type?
-
Not the cheerleader set again....
-
Can we just have the RSE sets that we have that are dye-able. Since racial stats mean nest to nothing none of that would really matter.
-
Yes please! I miss my mithra loincloth \( ; _ ; )/
-
Apparently the starting LV1 gears exactly are the Race sets in FF11.
Maybe in ARR they are too much beautiful so you don't regonise it anymore.
Btw, or you just want to fight with the whole server camping the specific mobs for the low drop rate key,
then waiting for the date and the time slot for your race, then run over the dungeon to camp the 30min pop treasure chest, ofcoz, with the whole server running around in this dungeon. And it was just for one piece of the set. ^^;
