is there a dsp that is especially welcome? are there any dps jobs that people wouldn't mind have two of the same?
It depends for what purpose...?
Like BRD/MCH is always needed for progression raid parties, but I doubt you'd want two of them in a party
For normal stuff? It doesn't matter (though for roulettes, I'd say NO DPS is needed, it's tanks that are, haha).
What are you looking to do and which DPS class do you like the most?
well... it's kinda true. Since both DRK and WAR can sub as DPS, one can go 4-man with all 3 tanks and a SCH and still manage to finish a level 60 dungeon.
No one hates double SMNs in dungeons now.
Depends on the situation really. For most things outside of savage it really doesn't matter, though early on in heavensward a lot of people didn't want more than one brd/mch fro dps heavy fights like Bismarck...but that was mostly down to them having more of a stigma at expansion launch from minuet controversy and MCH being generally a bit underpowered. And pug unreliability :P
For savage itself - Bards and Machinists seem to be in very high demand right now, slightly followed by the melees, in my experience. As for doubling up, I don't think people would mind having 2 of the same melee, or even 2 blms for something like A1 - although most statics would try and avoid doubling up. It does slow down the limit break buildup. I'm sure it can and has been done though, especially now we've had a good couple of months of eso gear.
2ninjas or 2smn in a savage group I can see working out. But for 4man stuff I really wish to get those 2 epic monks I had in one go. 15min clear on continuum with a pug party. Though I've heard smn's are even more beast on 4man content. Too bad the good ones seem to be very scarce.
Depends on what you are doing. Like what was said Bard/mach are always good to have, dragoon also and warrior. Monks i do not see around as much as they used to be.
Many variables as to the choice
I still call it Double Flare even if the spell itself isn't as popular as it used to be, but BLM+BLM is always a one way ticket to a good time.
As a Bard, the one thing you never want to see when entering roulette is a second Bard. Or a Machinist. We do not compliment each other well at all. D:
I love coming across a BLM or SMN, though. Gives me a chance to spam Foes, and you'll never see me complaining about that. Love you BLM/SMNs~<3
At least now bard has a DPS LB. I remember getting double bard all the time back when they had healer LB and it was just *drags hands down face*. I still really prefer not to have two BRDs even post HW but its not near as disappointing. It just feels like they still do the least damage of any other doubled up DPS in 4 mans and god forbid one or both of them is only a mediocre BRD to begin with. Suddenly fights drag on forever.
Every job has its niche really.
DRG brings battle litany and piercing debuff for the ranged DPS.
NIN brings slashing debuff for tanks, WAR in particular.
MNK can save DRK from wasting Potency by applying INT debuff.
SMN is just great utility and DPS all around.
The only job I find doesn't bring much to the table is BLM. Even back when flare was still relevant.
As a MNK I love having a SMN as the other DPS in dungeons (Expert roulette ones). Had some very fast clears that way. MNK+SMN power combo! :D
Double SMN would be really good too, I'm guessing.
In general, I don't think there's any DPS that -isn't- welcome, as long as it's played well. Double BRD/MCH in a dungeon will be a bit slower, but I had it multiple times levelling my MCH and it wasn't all that bad.
Nin brings trick attack, a smart nin will ask war to keep slashing debuff up so they can do more dps, also agro transfer skill is really nice to allow tank to go full dps mode on bosses.
MNK/DRK thing, delirium is our strongest potency attack when we don't have mp for dark arts, other than the first 45 or so seconds of a fight where we have a ton of mp to spare there is 0 issue keeping delirium applied to a boss for any drk.
And I would have to agree about the BLM thing but only because good BLMs seem so rare nowadays you are much more likely to find ones pulling sub 500 dps
Well black mage brings major destruction, that is enough no? :)
I've done that, 3 war and one healer (I think it was whm but don't remember exactly). Certainly possible, but it took as long as having 2 subpar dps lol
Also did a 3 smn A2, fastest run I've ever experienced. I've been thinking about leveling smn up to have as ranged dps, and then I can tell the monk to get his ass in the gobwalker xD
@ OP - all dps jobs are desired right now. If I had to single out which would probably be the most acceptable duplicate I would vote double monk or double smn. Leaning toward smn overall, since there's less overlap in their abilities if you have 2.
Run with 2 skilled Mnk.Its like you're watching Kung Fu movie.
You're*
:/:/:/:/:/:/:/:/:/
The OP is asking who is "your most welcome", not saying you are welcome.
It took me a few minutes to figure that out. XD
Higher single-target DPS? High burst? Support abilities?
BLM brings Apoc which is stronger for one target than Supervirus with a longer cooldown (useful for tank busters, prey and the like).
BLM has manaward which although has been nerfed since 2.0 makes them easier to heal than other ranged dps for certain mechanics like prey, handling adds, etc.
Similarly, manawall, when used properly adds to their survivability while other ranged classes simply don't have a comparable ability (Second Wind would be most comparable and not even all physical dps can cross-class it).
Regular Virus is also available for physical tank busters and raid-wide attacks.
And movement in all fights, at least up to A3S IMExp, is overrated and mostly unneeded.
The problem is *most* BLMs don't use any of these abilities at all.
